NSA without all the juicy lewdness. A tongue kind of passes directly through the cheek. Purely UI based story telling with a beginner's tale. Wait for massive discount or gift.

I spent far too long in gaming without playing Blood and Wine / Hearts of Stone. Okay internet. You were right about this. Probably the greatest DLC ever created.

Although not nearly as terrible as the fanbois lead you to believe - it's a Final Fantasy (for first timers, along with FF7R) with shallow storyline and gameplay, but with action backbone. Only worth playing if you have a standing interest in Square Enix games and/or have played a few games in the series.

You see where they created the bones of a universe that was never fully fleshed out - simple as that. Development issues and direction issues abound. It could have been fixed and refocused but nay, Square Enix management ♥♥♥♥♥♥ everyone here over at the time.

You can read online (and in the "Dawn of the Future") the ending but long story short, Noctis Ardyn and Luna reunite and destroy Bahamut and effectively break the cycle that the game hints at heavily.

I hate that Square has gotten desperate enough to do this to their flagship, but it's likely one of the reasons the game ended up being a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It has never fully recovered, but the final DLCs showed a remarkable focus in direction.

Shame we'll never see it to fruition.

Ninja Gaiden Souls staring the Irish Witcher - it's just such a shame the 'second half' of the game becomes a bit of a grind/lootfest whose challenge becomes more "2+ bosses at once get gud LAWL" or DMC level instadeath.

Weirdly my first Steam "inbetwen rating": Stay away unless weaboo or Soulsbourne fanatic - this is definitely a positive rating if you enjoy one of the previous two statements (you'll get plenty of hours and about 4 NG+s worth of challenge) and don't mind treading the same ground over and over.

The true underappreciated dark horse of the series - divisive at it's time - now truly glorious given the travesty that is XIII.

ITS NOT THE DARK SOULS OF PLATFORMING, it's Mickey Mouse meets Contra.

Unlike the review of the base game, this is NOT a sarcastic review.

You're granted some changes to the operations in the game but not too much if you've played the game in vanilla - the new classes are already existing classes modified to new purposes (Sniper/Support/Ranger) without really adding too much minus exceptional perks (shoot twice in a turn, "shadow" concealment) with the exception of the Templar, who feels extremely powerful if utilized correctly. The Chosen do add a substantial amount of stress with their rivalry system, the only flaw I see is that after dealing with (any)one of the Chosen (see black text below) the end game mission(s) feel vastly underpowered.

The Lost make a great addition but are given barely any context and never really amount or add to anything after the first few encounters minus a slightly more substantial health bar and a new concept of "if you make this shot, you get another action" for both sides to clear things out a little bit and can cause some good chaos in concealment, but is otherwise not too notable.

"Integrate DLC" from what I've seen on others' playthroughs is sacrificing other DLC missions to have the content just automatically featured in the game without the same context. Sort of a shame but sort of a blessing considering the reactions I remember to these aforementioned sprawls, but the concept of "Alien Rulers" from the one DLC seriously could have added more meat and bones to this system.

Just for the sake of black bar text and the Avatars/covert action: Avatar fights involve you killing the boss, killing mobs and an inanimate object, and then killing the boss again. Not really thought provoking or too fun in any way. You're eventually not even thrilled you killed them because only one person gets the weapont they drop and the difficulty of random missions drops substantially. Also, maybe I didn't see a tutorial pop up regarding this, but they can get some utterly ridiculous strengths and weaknesses in the system and there doesn't seem to be a way to clear or change them. You'd think one of the covert operations would be involving researching the chosen or sabotaging their activities, but that's another short reward system.

So, three avatar fights. Then, for the final bout, you fight three 'avatars' (enemy class) and a bunch of mobs.

I don't know. It just could have been handled better or at least have integrated something more to it. Maybe not the Alien Rulers as bosses but more of a leader presence, especially since the Avatars are obviously in the image of SOMETHING. But no more is established but the entrance of the Chosen as these elite forces... Meh. Just a weird taste in my mouth. Wait for a sale or just a GOTY edition that includes every DLC, because as it stands now, only the base is recommended.

It's the best stand alone DLC (should have been $30 or less), but not the ONLY DLC. Unfortunately.

Recreated painfully with less than modern technology. Story feels like someone played Shadowrun and read the first few chapters of Neuromancer and wrote a high school paper.

Ori and the Symphony of the Dark Souls, in the best ways, and earns that reference. The soundtrack specifically is somewhere between Silent Hill 2 those aforementioned games, quickly rising to one of my favorite indie soundtracks.

Any negativity I've seen has to do with spikes regarding bosses and specific platforming sections that are rather optional; the game does find ways to challenge you with it's mechanics and yes, welcome to Metroidvania games, you will backtrack to older sections in order to unlock new possibilities.

EDIT AFTER FULL COMPLETION OF DLC: My only true complaint is Godhome feels like a requirement rather than a feat of strength and a rather annoying one at that. The game is good at what it does and could have added more than a hall of "boss rushes" where you can (and are required to, if you wanna unlock the true ending and more stuff) gimp yourself in various ways and fight a gauntlet. Also, there's a room of challenges where bosses go from "normal" to "souped up" to "everything is a one hit kill for you" - the final gauntlet being an "every boss in the game and introduce a new one at the end where, if you fail, you start over" gauntlet. I did it, and let me tell you, go watch a video. The final boss is fun but almost not worth the grind.

I got to come back and experience this game again for it's first time and it's worth even more now.

Best Summer Sale Choice 2017 without question.
