Not until the game-play and difficulty gets adjusted to be more reasonable, preferably Cruelty Squad's level of difficulty. It was easy to die, and you paid a punishment accordingly to how easily your life is lost, which is to say, a reasonable punishment. 500 bucks and lost humanity, simple resources.

This game just rapes you LMAO not messing with it
It doesn't respect your time, doesn't reward you for exploring, and doesn't feel any better to 'get gud' at. There's nothing to get gud at. You hide in a corner and pray, waiting for them to come, the pray AGAIN that their AI is a few milli-seconds slower this time so they don't detonate you on the spot.

Darksouls' "money drop" system actually works because its much harder to die in Darksouls in the first place. As said about cruelty squad, your life's worth is equal to the punishment of death, and if you're careful and reasonably trying, you can easily get back to where you was with knowledge and retrieve your money. (souls)
Here, you simply pray and hope you don't die. If you dropped your money, fat flippin' chance. Save-scum it.
Forgot to mention. It costs money directly to fire guns. Okay then!
Sadly, it took me 2 hours to have fun learning how to interact with the world, so I can't even refund. My friend has successfully been scammed. Otherwise I would've refunded then pirated to give it another go, simply at a 0 dollar net-loss.

Don't waste your time unless you like disrespectful sadistic slop. When it comes to enjoyment, it carries not even a tenth of Cruelty Squad's impact.

The initial fun and spookage of the game quickly fades, even with friends.
It then just becomes instant, frustrating deaths and scuffed gameplay.
Only good if you're willing to pay its price for a short lived, all-be-it very fun experience, which I am not.
Im lucky it was free.

It's half-life 2. Nuff said. Evolutionary 2004 game. Not everyone will enjoy it, but i really suggest playing it.
Its opened way to hundreds of other games.

I generally just dont think its fun near end-game. Not a good use of my time.
Update
1 - It just pissed me off and I needed to try it again with a mod that fixes issues.
2 - You're supposed to play until you're bored because this game prettymuch doesnt end. Give it a shot if there's a sale if you're into big battles

sandford is a massive handsome hunk and i'd smooch on him all day

Jokes aside, I'll go through the game and what I experienced. I played through Arena mode 2 times and am currently playing as 'The Massive', and I've beat the base game all on normal, and am yet to play it on tough.

This is my real first review, so i'll break it into segments. In order, Story, Arena, and Playground. This is the order you SHOULD play the game, or at least in parts.

Story : In the story, you play through a long and grueling journey as Hank and his buds, and you make new friends along the way on your conquest to take down Project Nexus. The story, i binged through and completed in 3 days, but if you take your time, you'll complete it in a balanced span of time. There are unique, fun to fight factions, many bosses fit for each faction and event, neatly designed levels and segments the game is played through, and many show-casings of scripting, unique weapons, and story building. It's strong and fun, and satisfying to replay on higher difficulties. The added outfit system to allow you to replay levels with different setups is great fun. Some bits may be found strange or frustrating to fight through, but as me, a medium skill player, I always eventually prevailed. It's definitely the main focus of the game. I rate it 8.5/10, it satisfied my Madness Combat itch!

Arena : In the arena mode, you play as a lone nobody with a set of choosable origins, and a strange objective to build a sort of strange powerful engine, with the secondary objective to create a mercenary empire, with unique wave-based missions to do, mercenaries to hire to help you on your mission, a complex XP and leveling system, and fully customizable weapons, armor, and your afformentioned mercenaries. Quite fun to do when you finished the game, and want a further sense of progression, which is achieved through the XP system and a loopable system to allow it to be fully replayable. You can unlock new, unique and strange origins through this loopable system, called 'imprints'. I rate it 8/10, some flaws and balance issues here and there, but a fun blast!

Playground : An experimental mode that lets you play as any unit in the game, and use any weapon in the game that's accessable. You are able to spawn any unit you want to fight, and pair them in squads of any size or uniqueness. This mode is very buggy, unstable, and strange, as its the third, and last focus of the game as of now. Best to do this when you get mega bored or have done everything else. 7/10, not big enough or functional enough yet to determine a fully workable gamemode.

Overview: 7 years worth the wait, a blast of nostalga and fun, and good balancing and skill ceiling. I'm impressed! Blessings to the friend who gave this to me for free. thanks sploopa!!!

It's a free co-op experience, with the originality and greatness of half-life, you should try it with your friends!
