Torchlight 2 improves on this in every way, and adds co-op and Workshop mods, but TL1 is still a solid game. Smaller in scale, focused, doing everything it tries to do really well. The combat, looting, skills, etc. are all excellent. It has NG+ also. (Plenty of mods too, but you'll have to install them manually.)

Great value for the price. Torchlight 1 was a lot of fun, and TL 2 is a sequel done right, improving on all aspects. Along with online co-op, LAN and offline singleplayer, plus a rich modding scene, this is a solid offering.

The combat is so much fun, as is the looting. Mmmm loot, so much loot. Pets are great. Skill trees and all the different kinds of weapons. And it's so gibby and gory, just as it should be.

If you're looking for an action RPG, this is the one for you. You can't go wrong with it.

I wanted to like this game. I like the retro art, the sound design (very spooky atmosphere) the little details like how your character and her dog sit and rest if you idle.

I can't comment on the story because I didn't get far into it. Why am I stopping playing after one hour? Because the gameplay is frustrating, confusing and tedious. I'm not sure what they were thinking, trying to simulate a maze-like structure in a 1d (just left and right) series of corridors. It's nothing but an interminable series of corridors, confusingly laid out. Oh there's a map, but it is no help at all. Not to menion buggy, with markers either misplaced or missing.

You spend your time moving left or right, opening hundreds, thousands, millions of doors, and occasionally sprinting away from a monster. And that's it. I can't emphasise how tedious and boring the corridor after corridor gets, and how confusing it is trying to navigate massive levels in that way. It completely deflated my will to continue playing.

Sweaty hands, dying over and over again, the need for perfect precision and rhythm, a big smile on your face... no, this isn't Dark Souls or Hotline Miami, it's 140, a colourful, rhythm-based platformer with an amazing soundtrack that's an integral part of the experience.

It's short, and you'll probably never play it again once you complete it. But it is SO much fun while you're playing.

Are you good enough to get all 6 achievements? I'm not.

Don't wait for a discount, get it at the 5$ price, it's worth it. Quality over quantity, this game.

My playtime shows as short, but I already had this game installed from itch.io and have played it several times.

Why several times? I'm not sure. I mean it's a very short experience, very linear. And yet it seems to have a struck a chord with me and evidently, most of its Steam reviewers. I think it's that it tells a story quite well in a compact way. And it's fun to come back to it and try and find more meaning, or hidden clues, or whatnot. But there aren't any. But how cool would it be if there were? (But there isn't.)

It leaves you rather sad at seeing the extreme effects that depression and obsession are able to lead to. Hurting not just oneself, but others as well.

I bought the soundtrack right after finishing the game. The game wasn't much, but the soundtrack is lovely.

(I haven't played To The Moon so I didn't have any expectations of this.)

I don't mind that it's a long cutscene with no gameplay

I don't mind that there's no dialogue. In fact I think it's great how all sorts of subtle stuff (like a bird saying "thank you") was communicated with just motion.

I don't mind the slow meandering pace... well okay, it can get tedious, but it's no big deal

I don't mind the pixel art, I think it looks great and so do the more painterly backgrounds

The music is excellent, and I'm buying the soundtrack DLC right after I finish this review

Why am I giving this a thumbs down then? Because it's hollow sentimentality. It's trying to tug at your heartstrings without substance. There's few things I dislike more than sensationalism and emotional manipulation.

From the Steam reviews I can tell it worked on most people. "Moving", they call it. I'm really not seeing that. Yes I got the metaphors, the music is really lovely, and yes an isolated kid and an injured bird are sad things. But that doesn't make an engaging story.

I like playing it in short bursts, around 15 minutes per day. Any more than that and I get tired / bored.

But those 15 minutes per day are a lot of fun. I enjoy using the keyboard to quickly and efficiently put together the various food items, and I like that each item has its own quirks and method of preparation.

The gameplay is mainly this sort of frantic mix of speed and accuracy. The management side of the game is secondary, I think, but also well developed with enough room for you to decide your own menu and upgrades.

The game is playable with mouse or keyboard or controller or even touchscreen, but I highly recommend playing it with a keyboard - nothing else will give you the same edge as keyboard shortcuts.

My review will say the same as all the others: Short, sweet, charming little game that's perfectly priced and very much worth the 3 bucks you'll spend on it.

It's a light snack, which everyone can 100% in an hour. (I was afk for a while, so my playtime is longer.)

In short, you jump and walljump from one platform to another, turning their concrete surface to grass (an easy and effective way to track your progress). You reach a checkpoint, and more platforms appear in the distance for you to reach and convert to grass. And on and on. Plus some items to collect. That's about it and it sounds boring to read, but it's so well done, relaxing and that muuuuuuuusic, that you enjoy it throughout.

I definitely recommend it. So very simple, so very enjoyable. The music, again, is utterly lovely. I'd pay for the soundtrack. The two endings (you can see both, one for reaching the final platform and one for 100% completion) are cute and will make you smile.

PS. As a totally absolutely amateur game designer / developer, this game also makes me happy because it's such a great example of a "first game" that's well done, keeping things simple and managing a great job of it. Coming up with a very simple concept, developing it very well and wrapping everything in a refined package. Definitely going to pay attention to this developer's next games.

This was one of the very earliest "physics drawing" games to come out, and I'm sure many others were inspired by it.

Nowadays its strict 1024x768 resolution is unfortunate, but don't let that keep you from getting it.

Simple gameplay that rewards experimentation, as you draw shapes over and over to try and fulfill the objective.

You can find this on mobile devices (iPad I think?) and I guess it makes more sense to play it there.

I definitely recommend this, lots of fun and a game anyone can play regardless of age or gaming experience.
