Yeah, it's got a lot of grinding. I hate grinding. But DAMN do I love this game. Almost 1,500 hours on record. The gameplay is so buttery smooth, the gunplay so tight and fun, the melee slick and gory, the parkour and jumping and sliding and gliding and backflipping, all of these merge into an incredibly fun experience that keeps me coming back even after months of hiatus.

It's also a rather generous game in terms of free-to-play. Few things are locked behind a paywall - most can be obtained if you are patient enough. And you can get currency by trading items with other players. It's very fair and logical, even if it takes time.

This is the only free-to-play game I've invested substantial amounts of money into, and I don't regret it at all. They keep adding stuff and improving things. Not just more items to grind (although there are plenty of those) but I'm talking new maps, game modes, refinements to mechanics like melee and stuff, even entire sub-games in the game (do you like Strike Suit Zero space combat? cause you can do that in Warframe now.)

There are dozens, hundreds of ways you can customise your loadout and play style, from your choice of suit (warframe) and its abilities to your main, secondary and melee weapons, to the attributes of all those, and more and more details.

The graphics are gorgeous, the music and sound effects excellent, and the gameplay, oh man. Like butter.

Take a look at the other Steam reviews. Everyone is aware how grindy the game is, and we don't care because it plays so, so very well.

I love how good I am at this game.

I've only played the single player campaign (twice) so I can only comment on that. I thought it was pretty enjoyable. The gunplay very tight and satisfying, the vehicles fun to drive, and lots of weapons to discover and switch around.

The COD games and BF games all have the same approach to their single player campaigns where you feel like your hand is being held and you're moving from setpiece to setpiece. Everything is so staged, linear and orchestrated. But as long as you choose to accept that, this game is pretty fun. You can up the difficulty if you feel it's too accomodating.

the Bad Company games are beloved offshoot of Battlefield because the characters that accompany you during the campaign are fun to listen to, and the story is sometimes funny. I like the idle conversations that take place if you stand around with them, too.

In short, definitely worth getting for the single player, if you don't mind the "theme park ride" campaign.

I don't usually like tower defense games, but this one combines it with third person action and has a great selection of weapons and traps to use, along with two player co-op. The enemies are likewise varied and you must use different tactics against them. Lots of fun in short bursts, can get tiring/tedious if played for too long.

This is one of those games I always keep installed.

Steam says I have around 30 hours logged, but I've played dozens and dozens of hours before getting this on Steam.

Another fun, excellently made PopCap game. Combining Scrabble with turn-based RPG combat, you find yourself defeating enemies by spelling words. There are additional touches such as passive buffs and inventory items like health potions.

In the later stages, you get conditional buffs that work if you use certain letters. Enemies are sometimes weak to certain word categories, like "colours" or "metals". Certain enemies can disable some of your tiles for a number of turns, or stun you. All of which adds to the enjoyment of the game.

The visuals and sounds and plot are the usual light-hearted PopCap cutesy ware, which is to say is looks and sounds great and feels warm and nice and happy.

There is room for strategy too. Should I spell the biggest word I can get with the tiles right now, or should I avoid using certain letters because I can allllmost spell this amazing word but I need one or two more letters that will hopefully drop soon? And when they do, and you *whomp* (as seen in the store page screenshots) your enemy with a mega-hit, it's really worth it.

Also it's really worth it downing your enemy with a word like "STRAWBERRIES".

I really wanted to like this game. I'm level 50+ and I'm still not sure about it. So much grinding. Didn't I pay for this game? And for all those weapons? Why am I grinding so much?

The gameplay is okay. Lately most of the players I join just rush everything, doing the bare minimum to get the cash and XP. Grind grind grind. That's how I'm over level 50 and I'm still pretty much a noobmeister. "Stay here. I'll be done in two minutes."

Oh look, more DLC.

MARGIN FOR ERROR: ZERO.
This is all about the perfect run.

Every death is a learning experience.

QWE[worn off key]TYUIOP.

But the boss fights suck.

The only reason I haven't finished this game is because I'm too much of a ♥♥♥♥♥.

Adorable exploding fuzzballs, squeaking as they poof away by slide-matching them.

This is not as elaborate an offering as Bejeweled 3, but it's pretty close. It's certainly as well-made, offering that perfect combination of visuals, music and sound effects, but where Bejeweled goes for fancy, clinkity gems, Chuzzle goes for the cute factor and delivers in spades.

The gameplay is a bit different too. Here you slide entire rows or columns back and forth or up and down, to form clumps of three of more. With that, you have classic, timed mode, zen, and puzzle.

I like the little touches. If you grab a row or column and shake it violently this way and that, the chuzzles get disoriented and dizzy. Or if you click on any chuzzle, they emit a note. The note is higher from top-left to bottom-right, letting you basically play a tune by clicking on different chuzzles. This is entirely unnecessary, just a nice little touch. Or if you hover your mouse on a chuzzle and leave it there, after a while they frown and shake it off, moving the mouse cursor away. Adorable game, fun to play.

Before Candy Crush Saga, before all the "match-3" games, there was Bejeweled. (Or Diamond Mine, as it was originally named.)

Bejeweled 3, to me, is PopCap at their best. Masterfully made visuals, music and sound effects combine into a mesmerising, entracing, addicting whole. I can spend hours in the groove, sliding gems into plac, hearing the satisfying clacking and tinkling as they fall on top of each other, setting off chain explosions, planning the perfect hypercube a dozen moves in advance.

Steam says I have 66.9 hrs logged, but I've played this game for hundreds of hours before I ever had it on Steam.

None of the modern free-to-play junk. Here's a full-fledged relaxation game, with several fleshed out modes all based on the simple mechanic of matching gems.

Did I say relaxing? Not all of them are. Some modes leave you with sweaty palms and twitching eyes, searching for that next match, visualising its effect on the whole board, before the timer runs out.

On the other side of the spectrum, you have Zen mode, where you can't lose or run out of time, just accruing more and more points and leveling up, while a talisman gets perpetually crafted with each new level. Seriously, every time I think it can't look any more elaborate the game adds more gems to it. I wonder how far it can go.
This zen endless mode even comes with optional binaural beats and ambient sound (like forest or rain or beach) for maximum relaxation.

Then there's modes like Poker, where you're not on a time limit but you need to think before each move, to get the best hand possible and stay ahead of the increasing restrictions.

Bejeweled 3 falls into the "casual games" genre. And this means a lot of gamers will overlook it or dismiss it as another "game for soccer moms." I mean, it is. But only because it's a game for everyone. It's as casual or as "core" as you want it to be.

(Check my Steam videos for a tiny clip about matching two hypercubes together, a very rare move.)

My first instinct is to put a NO on recommending this game. That's because it's so often infuriating.

The racing here is all about physics and destruction. You can crash into the scenery and your fellow racers, resulting in detailed and wild destruction.

This is what makes the game both fun and frustrating. More often than not, finishing in first place is a matter of blind luck, thanks to all the scattered debris all over the tracks. I mean ALL over everywhere. The slightest bump will send you careening off into the side of the track. Same if you get bumped by a fellow racer.

That's basically my only gripe with the game. Otherwise it's tons of fun. The damage model on the cars and environment is pretty great (I know, I was just complaining about them!) The career mode is nice and simple, varied, with a great selection of tracks and game modes and cars.

Each car can also be upgraded in various ways. You could focus on speed and just go for the finish. You could focus on strength and make your car a high powered ram rod, disabling the competition.

There's also the stunt levels where the already-filmsy realism is flung out through the windshield, just like your driver will be, flying into bowling pins or a velcro wall for points. Very silly, very difficult (at least for me), very fun.

I haven't played other FlatOut games. People say this one is the best of the series. Check out the spiritual sequel, "Wreckfest / Next Car Game", here on Steam.

This isn't yet another shovelware, mediocre "simulation" game. ETS2 is an accurate and advanced truck driving sim, with licenced trucks and cars and a beautiful (if very scaled down) version of European roads.

Start without your own truck, take quick jobs, buy your first truck and garage, then buy more trucks and hire drivers and grow little trucking enterprise. Unlock better upgrades and skills for you and your team.

All of these aspects are great, but for me - and it seems for a lot of people - the best part of the game is just the experience of driving. Discovering all the roads and locations, enjoying the views, navigating the long wide turns and tight corners, pulling off that perfect braking at the red light.

Driving at night in the game (and in the real world), listening to European radios online, or your own music collection, both accessible through the in-game music player.

There's something soothing and special about driving at night, in the rain, listening to oldies and talk shows on a Czech radio. To me, that's the real joy of ETS2.

Even with the next game in the series announces (American Truck Simulator), the developers are still upgrading ETS2 and releasing new content. I'm looking forward to the Scandinavian DLC. It's a good sign when you look forward to a game's DLC.

PS. Try with a controller / steering wheel and face tracking. (you can use FaceTrakNoIR, free)
