a fun experience, level design is pretty decent but has a lot of nuts.wad moments, and the music is really loud in a good way.

some of the worst physics i've seen in a game like this. You're glued to walls and the grappling hook can't decide whether it wants to push or pull you.

Game is very cheap thrills for an OK 2 hour experience. It's also poorly optimized sadly. If you want a game that's just a goofy horror, this might be worth picking up. However if you want even the most basic of a mystery/thriller/crime story, skip this. No thought was put into it and none of the plot threads are resolved by the end. The end is really bad in that regard. However as a cheap thriller it works.

you don't have to resolve all of these obviously, but there's no foundation to enjoy or talk about the story in any meaningful way if you resolve none of it. You're meant to play as a detective and yet you don't even answer the most fundamental question of why the victims are even being targeted.

I want to believe that there is some secret organization that hires assassins, maybe government-affiliated, and that's how he got his silencer and the C4 from the balloon contact. That explains the MIB sightings in the carnival, near the basketball scene, and near the police station. They use the Entity to warp people's minds and turn them into assassins. However this doesn't really explain much of anything. We still don't know why the Detective started to hallucinate (while no one else did), nor why the MIB were trying to contact him, nor who the neighbor was, nor what the 'gift' was all about (maybe Jeff sending it to himself?), nor why the contact on the radio turned him from killing solo targets to going on a rampage spree, and most importantly of all, why the victims were targeted to begin with. I don't think anyone can explain any of these details either. It also doesn't explain why we didn't see the killer in the VHS tapes. I guess you can explain all this away with "it's all spooky entity" which I find incredibly lazy.[/spolier]

just seems like a presentation of the cities and models and not an actual game. There's no story here or really anything to do, there's two NPCs you can interact with in the entire map. The levels don't actually do anything.

You no longer can play this game -- even singleplayer -- without installing a kernel-level driver "anti-cheat" software. This not only is a huge security and privacy risk, it also prevents it from being played on Linux and is also just a huge ask to install such software for a single-player experience.

Despite having some good artwork and music, it's way too short and you don't even get many dialogue options. The majority of times you are either just watching cutscenes play out or are pigeonholed into only 1 dialogue option - it's the biggest issue with the game for the current asking price. Replaying is far too tedious, you are unable to skip already seen dialogue. The lack of subtlety on any topic was the final nail in the coffin for me; the game bashes you over the head with its 'metaphors.'

It's possible the overwhelmingly positive reviews soured my experience with the game as I was expecting quite a bit more. Overall you'll only enjoy if you get parasocially attached to a mentally ill MC.

I liked the game overall, it's a good text-adventure/point & click entry. I was a little disappointed in how straight-forward the story was, there aren't any twists & turns. The story, setting, plot and characters are all overtly simple.

The game is not hard to finish, but if you want to 100% it there are a few easy things to miss. You could walk into the dining room and forcibly advance the 'plot', now having missed any sort of necessary cut-scenes in other rooms, which is actually a pretty annoying game mechanic. I wish the game didn't advance in such a way without prompt.

I recommend playing using the shortcuts listed in 'help' menu to alleviate quite a few tedious actions. Anyway, there are a large number of dialogue options you can have with each character, it's actually a bit surprising how you can ask them about so many different topics and they often will have a response. Though, sometimes they say things that don't make sense in the current context.

There are a few moments where the prompt gets really irritating to work with. E.g. throwing a work into a doorway took a lot of rewording attempts to work. Doing any one-time action was a bit tedious. Some others just would ask "be more specific" to the point that I couldn't even be more specific. Specifically the salt in the cup thing completely mystifies me. You get only one chance in the whole game to dump salted-water, and if you miss it then you have no other chance. Even though there is another fireplace in evan's room that is lit, the game just repeats "be more specific.". Just expect it going in.

Took me quite a few hours to beat it with 100% completion, with a lot of replays and loading since it was so easy to miss one-time opportunities. Got both endings where you choose to keep the 'secret' or expose the 'secret.' I think I prefer the 'bad' ending honestly. Ah well, the good ending at least adds some bonus content.

The game has input and performance issues, I'm not sure if it's with the analysis or the paint, but it's sometimes completely unusable. I'd also like key rebinds, since some of the keys aren't very convenient to press on my keyboard.

It's not fully finished, in fact it only gets to drawing curves, but it's an okay start. Also there are these very weird "games" that you have to draw and play, I can kind of understand the concept but personally I'm not a fan. I just want to learn how to draw pixel art, all this extra fluff isn't necessary and is just never going to feel rewarding like I think it's trying to be. I understand what the dev is trying to do, but I think it's a bit distracting from everything else. Honestly, there's a PICO simulator in the game, if you allow the user to create PICO games with a simple PICO text editor and allow them to draw artwork for their game, and provide that as-is, I think that's already decent. The pinball machine was just... too much for me personally.

The rest is pretty enjoyable and I would like to see the direction it takes

Can't recommend. Why give us a terminal if it doesn't work? It says to use "open Document.doc" to open the document but that doesn't work, in fact you can't use open on any file. Nor do any of the other commands work (good luck using ssh or call). Besides my personal grievances with providing a broken "terminal", and a notepad that selects-all any time you click on it, the entire game is heavily rail-roaded and you're forced to almost immediately betray the FDI for muh plot. If you are even the tiniest bit discerning when examining the evidence, you will uncover things that the game will later scold you for "not uncovering." So detective and investigation game this is not.
