An absolutely fantastic game; the good ol' S.T.A.L.K.E.R. atmosphere is definitely here. Needs a lot of patching, optimization, etc. as one might have anticipated.

In time, this piece of media will be one for the ages. Here's hoping! Really enjoying my time with this one.

First things first here in the PC gaming world, running this game on:

- RTX 3080 Ti
- Ryzen 3800x
- 64 GB DDR4
- M2. SSD
- "2560x1440"

Such a shame. God d*mn. Just as the series finished its first run on HBO, and most likely hyped up and primed this release for great sales, somehow Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy managed to ruin a great game with poor optimization and a plethora of technical issues. I just cannot fathom how on Earth this game was released in this state, and furthermore, I am even more baffled by the fact that they had the decency to do this if you take into consideration The Last of Us' cult status in gaming.

Never ever hire these guys to do anything related to your products, please. Their track record is horrendous. I truly believe in the game itself and the story and everything inside it is amazing, but I cannot recommend getting this technical disaster AT ALL. Will change this review IF they are ever able to fix this piece of disaster.

Frames cannot keep constant, even if some areas work fine and look beautiful. Stuttering is very much present. Mouse worked like sh*t when I first booted the game. The requirements (especially regarding VRAM) are an absolute joke, even if I can run this game on ultra / high. The overall performance from this game is laughable.

This was that "one game" they should never, ever have released until it was absolutely ready and somehow in a working state.

Never pre-ordering anything from ND again, cheers for this.

EA really needed to succeed with this one; if they had sullied the name of Dead Space, there would really not be any way of crawling back from that. Gladly, they actually hit this remake out of the park. Surprisingly, Dead Space is back better than ever after many years of silence.

Core gameplay and mechanics remain the same, but there are a lot of improvements (graphics, extra side-missions, extra rooms, backtracking on the Ishimura due to more free level design and ability to travel back and forth between sections...), and overall the game also works brilliantly on my RTX 3080 Ti, everything on Ultra and DLSS on Quality. Capped my FPS at 90 in 1440p, what a work of art the game is to look at. Definitely recommend playing this and supporting this release, in high hopes of maybe getting Dead Space 2 remake as well down the line.

Long live Dead Space. I missed you.

EDIT/ 06.12.2022:
After the stutter / shader patches, the game is now at least running fine on my rig. Having finished the game 100 % now, I would recommend buying this when it's on some kind of a sale. The game has good atmosphere from time to time, the story has some intrigue to it, but the game could have been so much more. I mean, SO so so much more. A good ride, nonetheless. Expect the game to get even better performance-wise with the coming patches.
___________________________________________________________________

Before the EDIT:
With a rig of the following MAIN specifications:

RTX 3080Ti,
32 GB DDR4,
Ryzen 7 3800X,
and the game installed on a M.2 SSD (PCIe 4.0 x 4):

The game just cannot, at times, handle the fog / steam / lighting even with extreme fiddling of the settings. Sometimes the game can keep at a steady 80 FPS (that I have the game capped at), but sometimes for no reason it dips into the 30s when there is fog / steam in the game scenes, and the stuttering / lag / uneven frames are abysmal. There is no real difference running the game with DX11 or DX12, and do not use RAY TRACING, that will make Callisto unplayable.

The story seems pretty decent and when the game works, it is scratching that Dead Space itch that I have had for quite some time. However, in its current state and price I just cannot recommend it - the release is a technical abomination, and that is unacceptable. Should not have released the game just yet, no one can enjoy any aspects of the game when it runs like absolute garbage even on the mightiest / most expensive setups.

Shame on you, developers. Shame. On. You. For ruining this experience.

Note! I will update this review if / when the game becomes more optimized in the future. In its current state; do not waste your money on this. Developers should have learned by now that unfinished junk is not welcome in this space.

Everything I wanted from the PC-version; the fidelity, good performance, and all the DLC. This is a winner.

The game is absolutely stunning; Elden Ring does so much right and for me, personally, it feels like they combine the best parts of open-worlds (e.g. The Witcher III, Skyrim) while still having that wholesome Soulsborne-feeling to the whole game.

There are, at launch, however weird frame drops even on very high-end PCs (RTX 3080 OC, i7-high-end-models, Ryzen 3800X) that need to be taken care of. Also, the FPS is locked to 60 for me.

What a game; if you are a fan of the Witcher-series, or an adult fan of RPGs, you will absolutely need to play this gem.

With PC comes the common perks; high-fidelity graphics, amazing customization, and so forth.

One of the best experiences in a while, and feels like a complete new experience in spite of the 90 hours I put into this game on the PS4.

A must buy for everyone.

Firstly, I have played through this game before on my PlayStation 3. Not only does this game run way better on my Personal Computer, but it works like a charm with smoother edges and sharper textures, giving this piece of art even more pushing power with stunning visuals and exemplary mechanical decisions.

Note: You DO NOT need a controller for this game, but it is recommended, as it states on the Store-page. I played through this game with a DualShock 4 with a program called InputMapper.

I could write a longer review, but quite frankly, you should only watch this:

No matter what you think of this "reviewer", he has some astonishingly good points, if you can get past the emotional package he has for this game.

A 100% recommendation from me. Experience this game at least once!

10/10.

With the modding community, this game is still (5 years after its initial release) such a great experience. Highly recommended.

An absolutely fantastic experience. The developers screamed "Have fun with this great island we created!", and oh, I have had so much fun it is unbelievable. Vaas is probably the best villain in a game this year, on the same level as Comstock and Handsome Jack in my books; he seems like a genuinely crazy person, with full control of his insanity. You really learn to be afraid of him, and he can be truly intimidating, in a different way than most of the modern villains we see in movies and games, respectively. A must-buy for everyone. Just a little notion: I recommend you have at least a GTX 460 or the AMD equivalent, since you will want to experience this game in its (near-)fullest glory; the world does so many wonders to the story, so enjoy it all by having a decent PC! The game is really well optimized as well, so you can pull amazing graphics on older systems as well, so give it a go no matter what! Truly one of my recommendations I can be really happy about.
