This is legitmately the best game Ska Studios has made. It kicks SO much ass. The combo game in this is unbelievably fun, its gritty aesthetic is perfect for the atmosphere, and the music gets the blood pumping. Reminds me a lot of Ninja Gaiden, with way more air combos.

Ignore my playtime, I played a huge amount of the demo first. Magenta Horizon is easily one of the most fun 2D character action games I've played, I think it's easily up there with games like The Dishwasher.

Coupled with really cool sprawling levels, and it's a real treat! :D

Devil Daggers is a game of obscene breakneck pace, however, it usually takes a bit to get up to that pace. Devil Daggers takes time to ramp up, but when it gets there the adrenaline rush you'll get from it is unparalleled. It makes a single second feel like an hour. Everything falls into place and it becomes a ballet of chaos. The biggest issue of Devil Daggers is that initial 40 seconds that it takes for things to ramp up.

Hyper Demon asks the question, what if that obscene break neck pace was x10 and then the DEFAULT PACE of the game. Hyper Demon skips all preamble and makes even getting a few seconds absurd. Helped by the fact that you're not timed anymore. Not traditionally, it makes you have a timer that ticks down instead of up. And the only way to make the timer go up is by killing enemies. And it's only a boost of 3 seconds at a time. So the game requires you to do as many crazy combos as possible to even hope getting a decent score. This is greatly helped by the quadrupled moveset, your movement options are actually unhinged.

Needless to say, Hyper Demon is probably the most perfect follow up to Devil Daggers anyone could ask for. The game is actually astounding. And they somehow managed to make this chaotic mess coherent. There's a lot of subtle layers of communication to the player, such as red outlines showing enemies that are behind you. Enemies have very brief slowdown when getting near you, you have a lot of tools to outmanuever anything. Yet it still kicks your ass. It is ROUGH, but it's sooo fun. Sorath is actually a god.

This is a fun cozy game that I love messing around in. It's fun to just mess around with random stuff and change colours of streetlights, or break the game in hilarious fun ways.
