Playable newgrounds flash animation :)

Really fun beat 'em up game! Like I said, I really just feels like you're playing an episode of Madness Combat, probably a cliche thing to say but it really does haha. Only about 2 hours in, only complaints so far are sometimes bosses can be a bit vague on what you're supposed to do, but it's not that bad once you figure out their gimmicks.

TLDR:Once I seperated it from expecting more of Xrd, the game started being fun. It's very very different to the other Guilty Gear games, and that's fine. Modding is super cool too, you can make the UI a bit more stylish with it! If you haven't played a Guilty Gear game, but think they look cool, play this. If you're a Guilty Gear veteran, it might off-put you a bit, but underneath it's deeper issues there's an amazing game.

Overall the game is fun! I do still have some standalone issues though.

Full Complaints here:

The presentation is cool, but it's squarely in the territory of going a bit TOO hard on the visuals. Supers take entirely too long for their own good, the growing combo meter is obnoxious, and i've dropped counter combos countless times because of the giant slow down. It's just something I have to get used to because I don't think they'll be changing it, but it's entirely too much. By having everything absurdly over the top, it has the issue of desensitizing you to it, and making everything seem bland.

The music is excellent, but we are in 2022, and we still somehow don't have the ability to change stage and music on rematch. No instant-rematch either. Music is great, but listening to the same track for 3 matches in a row is grating. Ideally if the stage/music is set to random, it'd be amazing if it would change per match.

Insta-Kill moves are gone, which were a really awesome part of the previous games, but I sorta understand it since you have access to an insta-kill at all times. That being doing any sort of combo.

Damage values in this game are a tiny bit absurd, and I really think they need to be toned down. I shouldn't be able to take half of someone's HP with a 4 hit combo. Comebacks aren't impressive in this game, they're common and very likely. It leads a lot of matches to feeling boring because they end from two or so interactions. I might just be scrub-quoting here, but when I feel dissatisfied with winning?? I think something is up.

Air-dashes feel awful in this game. There's like, half a second or so of startup when you air-dash, making IADs feel anything but instant. It's probably my second biggest issue with the game.

The online experience in this game is actually horrendous, everything that isn't the netplay itself is abysmal. What I mean is, when you're actually playing a match? That feels amazing, the rollback is implemented amazingly and I never think about wifi, internet, or anything like that affecting the match. Everything else however, is terrible, and seriously needs fixing. Even starting up the game still takes at least 2 minutes, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it feels awful for seemingly no reason. If it did this when choosing an online mode, that'd be one thing, but getting into the main menu is horrendous. I've straight up changed my mind about playing for the day multiple times just because of this startup. Yeah, that's probably absurd but it's bad. Outside of that, the lobby system is once again terrible, it seems almost every Arc Systems game arbitrarily has this terrible chibi/pixel lobby system that just makes navigating unfun and tedious. It isn't cute, it isn't funny. Please stop putting in these lobby systems into fighting games, I'm begging you. Just give me a simple list, I don't want to walk around a lobby before a match. It's not just for public stuff, it's the private lobbies too. And then all of these issues make starting a match tedious for no gain. And yet, that's if you can even get INTO a match. Because it seems you have to answer to the game's whims on whether or not you can even play someone. I've seen entire public lobbies softlock before, but luckily it seems that issue is signficantly less common now. At launch it was horrendous. Somehow, these issues seem to extend to private lobbies too, where actually playing a match with a friend is a coin toss on whether or not we actually get to play.

With that out of the way...the game itself, when you're actually playing it, is a blast. Despite the gameplay issues I have, the game is really fun to play. I wasn't big on the base roster, I really only enjoyed Zato, once the DLC characters dropped I really started playing properly. The DLC cast is amazing, every single one of them is really fun. I really wish they weren't DLC...hey who knows maybe a majority of my gameplay issues will be fixed in Strive Revelator or whatever. All in all, solid and fun fighting game, just not a particularly good Guilty Gear game. In terms of music and character design though? Really great, I love all of the new designs for the characters, and the full english voice acting. Though I wish the voice acting languages could be toggled per character. Not hearing Baiken in Japanese is kinda...odd. But yeah, if you haven't played a Guilty Gear game, but think they look cool, play this.

Amazing port, probably the best version of FF1 out there right now. Disregard the other negative reviews, they're complaining about stuff that doesn't really matter. This is my new personal pick of an FF1 version.

TLDR: Easily the best version of Nocturne, if you have never played Nocturne before, definitely pick this one up! My new favourite version of the game.

This is more of a port than a remaster, but it's a pretty good port! There's a few minor issues, but it's SMT3 on PC, which is really all I wanted haha. I was worried when I heard about framerate drops on the Switch but on PC this thing runs flawlessly.

30FPS cap is kind of a bummer, but it's not that big of a deal, it doesn't bother me that much. Same with the compressed music. While those may be deal breakers for some, everything about this is a direct improvement over playing the PS2 version!

Update: There's actually a 60fps mod now! So that makes it even better! The modding scene has taken off a lot recently.

I do wish they didn't advertise it as a remaster...that I think has contributed to a lot of negative impressions of it for some. The price tag doesn't help either. Dante being DLC is also kinda lame haha. I picked up the deluxe edition so I'm good, but for others that's annoying. I feel if they launched this without VA for 30$, it would've been much more appealing.

Despite that, the voice acting is really nice, I like the direction they took a lot of it. However, I feel its a little sparse, and I would've preferred they keep non-fully voice acted characters silent, rather than using voice quips. The biggest issue I have is that shop voices are obnoxious.

I adore the new script, it flows so much better than the original script in my opinion, and feels much better written. I'm sure some people are livid over the script change though, haha.

My main hope for this port was to have a souped up version on PC that's better than the PS2 version, and yeah there's no way I'm gonna play the PS2 version after this. I used to play exclusively on a real PS2, but this is gonna be my version of choice from now on.

Incredible port if you use the Atma Weapon mod.

Probably my favourite turn-based FF game too, so this is probably the definitive way to play it, provided you get the Atma Weapon mod.

I used this guide to setup the mod: https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=591798883

Edit: the upcoming pixel remaster might become the new best way to play, will update when it releases
