Not a bad time waster for the price tag. Pretty hard, with decent replayability.

What does Valve do when they promise a new game? They make a Blizzard title! DOTA the card game!

My PC can't run this game. So it must be good.

Pros:
*Graphics are smooth, and a lot of fun to look at.

*The variety of vehicles is pretty decent.

*Music is good, and syncs to performed action on the track.

*Nostalgia for N64 Pod Racer.

*Responsive XBOX 360 controlls.

*The game is still being actively developed.

*Online pvp.

*Devs are actively getting rid of cheaters.

*Jaw dropping heights, and angles make you feel like you're on a roller rcoaster. The wider the screen, the more absorbing it is.

*The game is genuinely fun, and hard to put down.

*VR support for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and OSVR.(Warning, keep a barf bucket handy if you do this.)

*Most low-end PCs can play this.

*No need to buy more than 1 copy for 2 player local games.

Cons:
*The music is stuck in my head.

*Maps are limited. (However, content is being added.)

*No in-game map editor. (Allowing fans to create-upload their tracks would help this game a lot. Especially if fans hung on to help develop the maps.)

*I've lost count as to how many times I've hit the walls. I was hoping for something a bit wider, as far as the tracks are concerned. (This would increase player base for Pod Racer nostalgia fans.)

*More vehicles, please.

My rating would have been a solid 10, had there been a map editor.

Do not buy this game if you own a modern monitor. The resolution/refresh rates are wrong, and it will either not open, or open with "out of range," which may force you to force-reboot. I went looking for guides on how to fix this, and there is no modern answer. You either own a dinosaur crt tube monitor, or don't play it.

Pros: Haven't played it.
Cons: Doesn't work on modern systems.

Pros~

Devs are taking an active interest in updating the game.

Devs are taking an active interest in the player's mental status in regards to Acrophobia (fear of heights).

Graphics are smooth, and fun to look at.

Adjustable graphics.

Adjustable FPS range.

Config file can be tweaked for potato computers (not recommended).

Able to use an XBOX or Steam controller with this game.

Local Split-screen/LAN/Nearby Players/Global Queue

Death Race style gameplay.

Vehicular weaponry.

Fun, upbeat techno keeps the races going to pulse pounding tunes.

Able to add bots to online/LAN games.

Able to set the number of laps for online/LAN games.

Able to queue for map specific options.

Good for people with short attention spans.

Active online player base.




Cons~

Races seem to look like they start at a snails pace, as if the world is somehow slower. However, as you take off, the FPS adjusts accordingly to your general position, and relative speed. It just screws with me a bit, even though it's not actual lag.

After race camera: I cannot choose which angle the camera is in, and it rapidly switches between the available camera positions. This is a serious draw back, since most of what I'm seeing is happening too quickly. Allowing the player to choose which camera angle to have, would be vastly superior to auto-switching angles.

Tried to do a local LAN game. It didn't work at all. At first, my friend could find my game, then he suddenly couldn't. We tried different variables like taking down a firewall, turning off virus protection, etc. None of it worked. I feel as if some ports aren't forwarding for the game to recognize itself over lan.

As far as being a blatant Command and Conquer clone, this succeeds at bringing nostalgia into the now.

Pros:
Minecraft like graphics.
Fast resource gathering.
Settable resource amounts.
Chat.
Self hosting multi-player.
The soundtrack is nice.
Very smooth 60fps+.


Cons:
The community is tiny.
You're at the mercy of people either hosting games, or joining yours.
You're likely to get curb stomped by the game's veterans in a very short time frame.
There is a lack of maps.
There is a lack of map creators.
4v4 isn't enough players. 6v6 would be much nicer.
Lobby chat's latency is SO bad, I can wait for 35sec+ before a message comes through. However, when in game, nothing lags (what black magic is this?)


Over all, my experience with the game was a good one. The players who stomped me, were also nice enough to point out how to get better resources, and faster army growth. So far, the community hasn't really been all that toxic. Well, the community so far is tiny, so prepare for long wait times.

I give 8-Bit Armies a 4/5 for being fun. I give it a 1/5 for being a blatant C&C clone.

A decent investment, if you're looking for an RTS to bring back your nostalgia for C&C. Or you could just buy C&C. But, if you want Minecraft graphics C&C with out a mod pack, get this game!

One of the greatest gaming intros to any gaming intro in any gaming intro to ever gaming intro.

It's like Mario Kart, but with planes. Wait, didn't they do this with Diddy Kong Racing? Well, I guess it's Diddy Kong Racing, with only planes, limited content, and clap trap's voice actor. It's graphics are very smooth, and the controls are extremely nice. I hit more walls than I care to count, but it's still a lot of fun. I wish it's community was larger. I think I've played against 2 other people before. The only major downside to this game is, it's limited selection of maps. You can do them forward, or backwards. This feels like one of those arcade games you'd find in a theator with those racing jet-skis', but with planes. I don't think the devs ever expected anyone to actually play this game for as long as I have, so maybe the lack of content is a lack of player base interest? *Slams fist on table,* I demand more maps to race on, and a broader internet community!
