Can't really recommend it.

After a while, the uniqueness of the game wears off, and you realize you have to almost 100% rely on random luck to beat the game.
The puzzles becomes incredibly tedious after a while. Once you have figured out the puzzle the first time, you still have to complete the same puzzle on every run. Yes, I know basic math, and the first few times that particular puzzle was a bit challenging, but after that it just became a chore.

Yes, it is a rogue like and you are supposed to fail and try, try again. But in other rogue likes I have played, you can have terrible luck, which will ruin your run. In this game you have to be incredibly lucky just to get by...

Also, the interface has a lot of quirks that makes playing it feel very... sluggish. Unskippable animations and interfaces that are artifically slowed down. When I pick up the parlor key for the 100th time I don't need a full screen popup telling me I just picked up the parlor key....

It's a pretty game, and when the sniping "works", it's really fun.

But

Half of the missions has nothing to do with sniping, it's more of a stealth-game.
Unless the mission is a "long-range" mission, be prepared to do minimal sniping... You are maybe able to take out one or two targets, but after that, the mission will have you infiltrate a base to steal something or turn off a waterpump or something.

They impose virtual limitations on what gear you can use. For example the Drone. In every level there are "anti-drone" towers placed that prevents you from using your drone... I'm on the last level, and I don't think I've used my drone more than once or twice, usually resulting in "oops, there was a anti-drone tower, drone lost!"

The AI is really inconsistent. Sometimes it takes an enemy five seconds to notice you even if you're standing right in front of him, at other times, the enemy has lightning fast reflexes and shoots you the moment you stick your nose out.

It's OK

If you haven't played Half-Life, this is the version to get. But if you want a new, modern game, look elsewehere.

The game has several issues that makes it feel... clunky. Getting on and off ladders is hit and miss, swapping weapons is unneccesarily cumbersome and you sometimes get stuck in the environment for odd reasons.

The placements of the headcrabs are annoyingly predictable. They almost always attack you in a way or from a place that is impossible to see or predict, so you have to do the old quicksave-quickload when entering a new room.

The loading-screens feels very dated and really interrupts the games flow.

Some of the "puzzles" are really annoying and just feels like busywork.

So, it's basically Half-Life 1, with all the bad stuff ported to a new engine with new flashy graphics.
