Slapshot is:
1. Highly mechanical. Easy to learn, hard to master.
2. Goofy looking, but really competitive.
3. Fun.
4. Even more fun with friends!

ATTENTION NEW PLAYERS - Controls take a while getting used to, but they are not bad! The basics are simple ---
- You shoot/pass by swinging your mouse left/right. Combined with Spacebar, you may push other players out of your way.
- Left click lifts the stick in the air, allowing you to move it over the puck (and also allows you to hit mid-air shots).
- Right click tilts your stick so when you hit the puck it flies in the air.
- Left Shift is a dash (fast acceleration). Doesn't speed you up above max speed. Use for quicker positioning and changing directions.
- Spacebar is braking. Also, while you hold it, it gets harder for others to push you out of the way with their stick.
- Pressing E reverses the camera which is essential in forwards positions when the puck isn't in your screen.


The main issue I've been experiencing since the early days of Rebound is still present though. Online gameplay feels very choppy. With over 800h in Slapshot 1, I can't play this game no matter how much I wish to enjoy it. I'm not sure how many people are experiencing it though.

Easy to learn, hard to master, fun to play.

Great game, can be played both casually and competitively. Especially fun with friends. Short 5 minute matches. Discord organized tournaments.

The only downside is the small player base. New players might find it disheartening when they get matched up with veterans.

Optimized, fun, balanced, multiple game modes.. Takes time to master the combat, but it's totally worth it. Full recommend.

Artifact is good on many levels, but heavily plagued not by the monetization, but by the lack of ways to earn stuff and increase your card pool without spending money.

If you don't have a lot of money to spend, then this isn't a game I would recommend to anyone. The only thing you can really do with the buy-in is to play Casual Phantom Draft which gets you no rewards. If you do have money, then you really won't have any problems playing video games no matter how expensive they are.

While other card games like Hearthstone are technically more expensive if you pay with money, they have NO $20 BUY-IN and you can still earn packs for free and play Arena to get rewards. Artifact on the other hand asks you to pay $20 just so you could play a game mode or two without any rewards. The 'Expert' game modes require you to have a decent card pool (which requires, you guessed it, money!) or tickets (guess again, money!).

It's a terrible system and Valve has to fix it ASAP and add a way to earn card packs and tickets without spending actual money on the game.

At the time of posting this review, I cannot recommend this game to players who don't have a big wallet.
