Probably the most enjoyable game to play with friends in a long time

If you want to play as a cat, get this game. If you don't want to play as a cat, don't get the game

It's a good comeback. However the gameplay loop is quite repetitive and the final boss fight is just trash. However I can really see how far grasshopper has refined their combat since killer is dead. I hope in the future the next game they release is a bit more fleshed out. If you've played the previous entries you're in for a good time. If this is your first go then you might wonder what all the hype is as the game falls short in many areas.

First off let me say that I have played all the yakuza games and spin offs on PC (Minus Ishin, that is next on my list), so I know just a little bit about how these games roll.

Overall I wanna say the combat is great, definitely a step up from the previous title, however a little bit bummed out that we had to wait till the end of the game to get some real combat in. The reason I am giving this game a negative review it is just because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ story. I am so glad they toned down the pursuits and everything else in this entry vs the first but man this story sucks.

Yagami is guilt ridden over the fact that he got that innocent dude free'd from that murder charge which ultimately resulted in that dude's GF dying. He feels as if he had somehow either let that innocent dude rot in prison or perhaps if he had found the real culprit he would be a better person. This ties directly into the story which is where I get really annoyed. Sawa this sawa that. She died and apparently if anyone farted in her general direction they had a hand in killing her and are therefore worse than a guy who kills for fun. Yagami's purpose in life at least in this game is to make sure relatively innocent people serve time and get punished for honestly completely justifiable actions. Remember kids what is the difference between a man who kills 1 person in vengeance and one who kills a thousand for pleasure? Nothing apparently.

On a much more minor point man these characters really don't know when to shut the ♥♥♥♥ up. It seems like everything is in the bag and everything is gonna work and then nearly completely unprovoked they go confessing. I'm like dude you just had to keep your mouth shut for literally less than 3 more seconds and you'd have won. Why are you now giving an essay?

Also I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate the cutscenes in this game. Specifically when it is recapping. It goes something like this.
Yagami: I believe this happened!
Others: What is your proof?
Yagami: Here is my proof!
Others: I believe you!
Yagami: I believe me too!
Others: We both believe you then!
Yagami: So to recap we both believe in the same thing!
Others: We both believe in the same thing!

Listen we all know you're gonna play this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. The fact is you probably already played Judgement, Yakuza 0-6, and Like a dragon. You're already gonna buy this game. Just if I had to rank this it'd be dead last or close to it in the history of this series. Wait for a strong sale so you don't get too mad.

At the end of the day it is another yakuza game. However that isn't to say it is a perfect or a must by. It has a lot of issues, in the sense super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ repetitive. I do not want to tail someone again, or do another chase which is pretty much 99% of all side cases. I give the game a 7/10. Not a cool a positive rating, more like it gets a C-
