Following Victoria 2, Victoria 3 had big shoes to fill. Unfortunately, Paradox has failed to deliver and delivered quite an underwhelming game compared to its predecessor, falling short in many places.

Diplomacy was marketed as a cornerstone to this game's mechanics, but its proven to be quite lousey and there is very little you can do through diplomacy alone. Diplomatic plays is essentially exclusively used as your doorway to war.

Military has been delivered in a horrible state. Whilst I actually don't mind the ground army mechanics that much (they certainly need a bit of work), the navy was absolutely and completely butchered. They seem to have copy-pasted the ground battle mechanics and implemented it on the sea, leading to naval battles being very weird. Your navy has little to no use at all outside of war, and given gunboat diplomacy was a huge part of this era, it's extremely disappointing to see what could've been a fun mechanic just completely relegated to the sidelines. They had great systems in EU4 and HOI4, systems they could have learned from, combined and implemented into this game but for some reason they chose not to.

There's more I could say but I'm too lazy to type it. In its current state, I wouldn't recommend this game unless you're looking to scratch a particular itch.

The ultimate sandbox game. A plethora of content and so many possibilities. In this game, the sky's truly the limits.

Fun little problem solving game. It's one of those games that you wish was longer.

I really like this game. But the activation ♥♥♥♥ is BS. :3
