The made me a fan of the armored core series. The game rewards playing well and getting better.
I've heard that people get "filtered" and honestly if that's you just know this;

Are you really going to let that stupid boss beat you? Try again. Every time you fail you learn. This game is a master class is showing you what true progress can look like.
I personally feel like this game is a great way to show you how much you can personally improve off of failure alone and for me this game gave me feelings I haven't associated with video games since I was a young kid playing scooby-doo in cyberchase on the ps2.

This game will kick you ass but it makes it SO much sweeter when you kick it's ass back.

After surviving for 1 month 15 days with a friend a dense fog rolled in while we were trying to enter louisville.
The RV I was driving made too much noise and the fog cleared leading to the staunch realisation that I was surrounded and alone as my friend had taken the scout vehicle ahead to see if it was clear.
That is how I died.

So I want to start off by saying that this review comes at the time of me being about half-way through the campaign and it may be updated afterwards should my opinions change, as well as that you shouldn't buy the game unless you try it first because it won't be for everyone and it does have a solid end point from my understanding. (Just meaning that there isn't very much "endgame" content, that's not a breaking point for me as I don't mind my games having a definitive end.)

Need for Speed unbound reminds me a lot of the days when I used to play NFS Underground 2 on my gamecube and that means a lot to me but I know that won't sell it for everyone so that begs the question, is it good?

Personally I think it's great but I haven't been into NFS for a very long time and while I did buy heat and other games from the series, the last game that pulled my attention in the series was Payback and it wasn't a great game but it was fine, so seeing this game around tiktok and youtube made me decide to play it on EA play first and it sunk my attention.

At this current point my biggest complaint is the police but not because they're "too hard" but because they often become less of an exciting challenge for the player to conquer and become more of a roadblock for the player, often spawning as you approach a safehouse or meeting point leading to an unnecessary and potentially prolonged police chase when you just wanted to get to a race. Personally I think they could fix this by introducing some level of a buffer if the player exits a chase near a race start, something like after the police have been successfully evaded the player will have a 30 second - one minute period in which all cops head to the players last known position, giving the player an obvious area or roadset to avoid so that the chases don't lose their appeal as quickly as I've felt they have.

The story that I have made it through is compelling enough but it's the character and life of the cars where this game really shines. This game is at its best when the right songs play while you're barreling down the highway listening to the trash talk of the opponent A.I or when you hit the perfect drift or even just expertly weaving through traffic. The thing that keeps bringing me back to this game is how I personally feel like it tries to bring back the underground style of car culture from the mid 2000s while updating it for the times.

The music isn't stuff I would have gone out of my way to find but then again neither would "Get low" by Lil Jon and that is an absolute banger. There seems to be a set of people who think that this sound track is bad and while you're entitled to your opinion, I can't help but notice most of these arguments boil down to wheres the grunge or rock from past games and I don't think thats totally an invalid point but the music here does fit the tone of the game and for that I personally think this is a great OST.

So look at the end of the day, if you liked NFS underground 2 back in the day you'll probably like this. If you want a game that provides the aspects of a live service then you may end up being disappointed but with a story clocking in around 25 hours I'm hard pressed to say that its too short or that its not worth the money because in my eyes it absolutely is but if you're looking for car packs and a car mmo like experience, you're better off sticking with Forza Horizon.

Finally I consider a game worth it based on this ratio: A 60$ game should get me at least 6 hours of enjoyable playtime as my current rate of fun works out to 10$/hour give or take so for NFS Unbound to be worth it it would need to give me about 11 hours of enjoyable play time (101 cad after tax) and thus far it has.
