pretty amazing though there's a lot i didn't really like about the story or the setting, the mechanics are awesome and it was fun playing. genuinely one of the better RE's and uniquely sticks out from the other games. here are some things i did not like:

the daughters being fairly throwaway
guns being disposable (you get better ones anyway, do NOT upgrade the starting shotgun or pistol but clutch F2, F2 is life)
the locals having american accents despite being in a remote eastern european village
no choice to side with heisenberg even for a little while
random tie ins with the franchise (BSAA twist, Ozwell Spencer, RE4 Merchant namedrop, etc. was a bit out of nowhere, wouldn't be surprised if George Trevor designs was copied for the castle)
the amount of marketing for Lady D yet she's just another boss (CAPCOM going as far as releasing an official FOOT SIZE?)
normal is very easy and i managed to beat it in under 8 hours
puzzles are so simple they're forgettable

overall though this game is insanely good and i can tell CAPCOM is passionate about their games and progressing the RE franchise further into a blend of survival horror and action but not going too far with the action. really awesome.

resident evil 7 is almost a loveletter to shinji mikami seeing as how one of his favorite films is "the texas chainsaw massacre" and is in my opinion, one of the better RE games

i think the only thing that really makes it fall short from some of the better games in the series is in a lot of it's innovations
they're fairly raw given that they experimented with it for the first time in the series and it shows in some areas
however, it is this innovation that really brought the series back from the brink of disaster from the almost franchise crushing: RE6, Operation Raccoon City, and Umbrella Corps

imo, definitely worth picking up even if you're not a fan of RE
the mechanics are a bit slow and messy sometimes but this is a good game through and through!

so it's been 10 years since this was originally panned by critics and fans alike, here's a review in 2022:

RE6 feels like playing one of the many CGI movies such as RE Vendetta so make of that what you will.
this may be better with a co-op partner, maybe a blast, unfortunately i played with AI.
it's not entirely a BAD game, there are worse out there but I think for a Resident Evil game, this is bad:

-the UI is confusing and isn't visually appealing
-story / canon completely scrambling to make any sort of sense (you only really start understanding the plot in the last bit of the game)
-overstays it's welcome and pads out the runtime through unnecessary obstacles or basic puzzles to remind you that you're playing an RE game
-graphics are a bit bad for 2012 (also the year of hitman absolution for comparison of graphics)
-enemy types and bosses were the worst they've ever been in this one imo, boring and uninspiring

i did enjoy riffing along with the game because of it's most outrageous plot, but without that, this would've been even more of a slog to play, that is good:

-runs amazingly after install, no crashes no bugs no anything
-soundtrack wasn't awful, Jake's ending credits song I may actually listen to outside of this game
-sherry is cute
-amazing backdrops for RE, a lot of the Chinese scenery could actually be amazing to come back to
-COACH BABY!!!
-the extra modes such as Mercenaries is among the best in the series
-stun rod

overall, a meh entry to the series that could've been better if it wasn't so ambitious.
enjoyable but you have to be patient with it.

RE revelations 2 is a fair entry to the series especially if you like Claire or Barry. However, I don't think I could recommend this to someone that isn't an RE fan due to two misleading things: LOCAL CO-OP ONLY & EPISODIC DLC.

otherwise, it's fine, the bosses are lacking compared to the first REV though.

"mayyyydayyyy.... maydayyy....."

has some of the best boss designs in RE and one of the best settings.
the story is a bit convoluted but it's fun nonetheless.

one of, if not THE greatest co-op game of all time, RE5 is a blast to play with a significant other or a best friend as it tests both trust and coordination while shooting mutants, monsters, zombies, and snakes(?)

stun rod OP!

RE4 is usually regarded as the best RE game.
although there's a remake on the way, this game specifically will forever be legendary.

i can't recommend this enough, even if you're not a fan of RE.
this is one of the very few RE games that i would suggest to someone if they don't want to play from the beginning of the series.
despite it's age and all, it holds up pretty well, not a lot of games since RE4 has managed to match the same highs.

buy it, you can throw eggs at zombies.

honestly, this game isn't really that bad.
don't expect it to be a triple-A RE game, and think of it more as a B-Game.
a game you play in an afternoon when you're bored.
a game you play with friends to admire ORC in all of it's jank 2012 tactical shooter horror glory.

this game serves as a staple of what could've been, even now Capcom continues to try and try for an RE multiplayer with RE:VERSE being the most latest example (it's already dead).
10 years later and although the game is off sale, hardly anyone plays it, the support for it is running thin (held together by a GFWL patch) the wolfpack is still one of the most badass teams.

it isn't Outbreak but it's still worth a few hours of your time if you're an RE fan.
(love u bertha hope u come to the main series 1 day)

oh Capcom, you did it once before, why not do it again?

it's important to note that originally, the 1999 Resident Evil 3: Nemesis original was supposed to be a SIDE STORY to the series, but it's titling was changed during development. it's also important to note that because of the success of RE2's remake, Capcom was more than happy to produce a remake for RE3.

it's unfortunate that RE3 didn't get the remake it deserved, as a lot of original content was gutted for the remake. don't expect a full fledged game out of this with a lot of replay value, and especially don't buy this for full price. (treat it like DLC!)

RE2's remake is one to behold, i really can't say much about it because of how solid and great it is.
