In a market horribly oversaturated with zombie games, this one manages to stand out. While the parkour mechanics are a little inconsistent at times, it's an absolute gem that promises to entertain for hours. Best enjoyed with a friend in co-op, on the hardest difficulty, screaming in panic.

I got this game bundled with Overgrowth, and my god is it frustrating. It feels clunky, panicked, rushed, inaccurate, and feels like you're up againt impossible enemies, with only one shot before you're dead. Normally, such points would be cause to hate a game, but Receiver pulls this off in a way that mimics how a human would feel in such a situation, one who has had little to no firearms operations training. The game gets easier the more you learn how to handle each weapon and manage your movement. No matter how good you get at it though, you'll always be frantically checking corners, triple-checking whether or not that doorway funnel-of-death is going to kill you, and you will absolutely, positively ♥♥♥♥ your pants every time you hear a beep and don't see anything. It's a brilliant take on the FPS genere, and I'd love to see this kind of thing fleshed out into a full game. Although $5 seems a little high for such a barebones game, it's well worth it if you end up liking it.
In short, it's an FPS game against drones that plays like an actual human using actual firearms on actual drones and not macho-man #2,508, blasting away metal scraps at 6000 RPM.

EDIT: I asked, and I received. Can't wait to check out the sequel, can't believe I didn't realize it existed.

Both stealth and loud manage to be frustrating with the amount of objectives to do and how you complete them all. Somehow, this is a positive with this heist. There's some sort of charm to Big Bank, with all its required planning, dividing tasks, and everything in general. While stealth is genuinely frustrating, the frustration comes from the challenge, and the frustration in loud comes from the complexity of the heist. Up there as one of the bests heists in the game. Overkill, you did something right with this one, but I can't tell you what it is.

Easily the worst heist in all of Payday 2. Stealth is absurdly frustrating, with several pointless objectives only meant to fill in space, extreme claustraphobia, and if you aren't perfect 100% of the time, you'll make a tiny slip and lose the entire run to it. Most frustrating of all is the fact that cameras detect the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ forklift, meaning that most of your time spent downstairs will be spent looping cameras. If you're extremely unlucky (which is all the time), you'll come across two overlapping camera sightlines, meaning that you MUST waste an ECM dealing with it (meaning it's damn near impossible to do solo). Let's not forget about the fact that most of the time in the "blend in" stealth escape, your detection rating acts as if you were masked up. Loud is no better, being mind-numbingly boring and having an only slightly interesting (although extremely stupid) way of extracting loot. Not only is the gameplay horrible, the tone and atmosphere of the level is way off-putting and unfitting, the music flat-out sucks for the map, the map itself is worse than a maze, and the entire premise is so laughably idiotic that I legitimately thought this collaboration was a joke.

All in all, the only reason you should ever get this is that now it's bundled with Ultimate Edition regardless.

would be good if the engagements weren't mostly spray-and-pray lagfests.

I always wanted a slow, Day-Of-The-Dead-esque zombie game, with punishing gameplay and accuracy-demanding gunplay, and when Contagion was announced I was hyped. Sad to say, this game has been abandoned by the devs. With severely underpowered melee and lackluster sneaking capabilities, shooting your way through everything is almost required. If you don't know exactly what you're doing on a map and plan ahead (using up all your inventory space in the process), you'll find half your time is spent backtracking and another third of it spent navigating. Solo is nearly unplayable (as this is a team-oriented game and all) and so is multiplayer by the sheer fact that once a teammate goes down, it only gets harder. Escape is the only mode worth playing, as all the other co-op modes are very unpolished and any PvP game boils down to you getting sniped.

In short, it has the potential to be fun if you play with friends and friends only (and turn off the god-awful PvP in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ co-op game). Otherwise, avoid this game.

EDIT: I was mistaken to say that the game was "abandoned", but it certainly has very little in the way of support. I understand that this is because it's being maintained by basically a single person- that doesn't change that it's a lackluster game.

It's a lot worse than the first for a multitue of reasons. Ignoring the comparatively shaky plotline and mask choice, or lack of it thereof, level design alone is bad enough to make a fan of the first game hate the second. Hell, I preordered the digital special edition just because of how much I loved the first game, and I was horribly disappointed with the result. The levels are far too open, large, and populated, meaning that the only way to actually complete most levels in the game is to bait enemies into charging at you and striking them, hoping that you don't get shot by an off-screen enemy once you've blown over ten minutes on a single attempt. I've heard that there are levels that are even worse than the Vietnam flashback levels, but that's as far as I got before I abandoned the game. All I can tell you is that sitting in a corner of the map, hiding and peeking out to bait enemies in was mind-numbingly boring and frustrating, especially because of the weapon mechanics. Not being able to switch weapons, having to reload, and relying on ammo pickups is such a bad system that I am certain whoever thought of was drunk at the time. The fact that using guns is de-facto mandatory kills the game's selling point, and the way the levels are set up makes it such that if you aren't progressing into the next level with full ammo, you'd be better off restarting. I did manage to finish the Vietnam campaign, but felt no joy in doing so. The following story segment was dull and drab, and I felt more like I had just finished a long and menial chore instead of having surmounted a challenge. The first game always made you feel like you were surmounting challenges by charging in recklessly, chaining combos and quickly reacting to what was at hand, learning from each death what you need to do next. This game is about waiting, looking, and getting a cheap and meaningless death resulting from the game's god-awful level design and even worse weapons and masks.

In short, your most used key in this game will be shift, your least used key will be mouse 1.

It's not a bad game, per-say, but it gets boring VERY fast, and for the past year and a half or so the support has been nothing but filler; random fluff that doesn't contribute to the base game, and a ton of different game modes that, in all honesty, kinda suck.

Now that Tripwire has gone back on their word and is charging $9.99 for a single weapon and some weapon skins that most of us don't care about, I'm responding the same way I responded to Payday 2's Crimefest 2015 fiasco: By refusing to recommend this game. It won't have much of an impact, but I hope my point gets across.

Addendum: Apparently, TW transferred all stored data from Steamworks to Epic without notifying consumers or asking their consent. I don't have a problem with Epic, but I can't excuse this breach of consumer privacy and rights. I don't think I'll be patronizing Tripwire Interactive anymore.

It doesn't matter what I put here, apparently disliking this game is a crime against humanity. That should be enough to inform you what kind of people this game attracts.
