HELP FOR DD2:
I sent my crash reports to Capcom several times, but without any response... I don't know how can i do to play normally.
If you know how can I fix this crash, I would be truly grateful.

All my games starts and I can play with no problems. DD2 is the only game that crashes every 5 minutes. I updated every type of driver, but nothing to do...

Continued, offtopic thoughts:
I actually haven't beaten the game myself. Chapter 3 is so fast (can actually be beaten in minutes). So I then decided to not play chapter 4 when it released, as to leave more gameplay for myself later (because the game ends with chapter 5).

I did hear chapter 4 & 5 are extensive I just need to find the time to complete them (busy offline & when I'm online I'm caught in several other games)

Despite not beating SoH, I still think it's the greatest horror/thriller-themed-classic-fixed-perspective-style-camera-game in years. It's amazing such a small dev team could pull it off yet lean well on such quality & game mechanics. Absolutely puts to shame AAA studios/publishers who abandoned this style many years ago in favor of 1st person or over the shoulder 3rd person.

The only completed episode 3 save I have is from my default blind playthrough I carried from the start as episodes released. Several people have died throughout it, I can't remember who exactly. There is also an episode 3 I had kept just before the end of that chapter.

However, I did include all the other saves I was keeping too from experimental runs I was doing at the time:

- 1 lifer playthroughs (noone dead). There is a set for Chapter 1 using all characters & a seperate set for Chapter 1+2 using all characters This encompasses all characters so there are many saves, organized by name.

- All dead but Daniel, completed with chapter 1+2

Although, running steam &/or the game with admin rights should give the privileges to do so. If not, your machine may have settings to disable this or perhaps the main folder is set to "Read only".

You can try making your own:

I saw this, it didn't help - my saves already capitalized. Also I saw in your posts about visual and input ini files in "Documets" - I don't have them.

Another suggestion from a user: make a save then,
"All you have to do is disable Steam Cloud for the game and then go to My Documents > My Games > Dead Rising 3 > Saves > x64_build/x86_build and capitalize the save names"

Ahh, I forget Steam now handles redistributables. I believe valve torn them out of most if not all packaged games by now.

Here in your Steam library there is a "Tools" section. Ensure you have the app "Steamworks common redistributables" downloaded.

^That actually runs for me automatically whenever I install a game for the first time now.

You shouldn't have to worry about GFWL leftovers, just remnants of a bygone era.

Researched further and discovered that, yes even with a fresh install, the is no CommonRedistributables Folder now. Saw advice to check it and found it wasn't the but a GFWL "ZPT(???)" folder is there and an empty folder named strangele enough "EmptySteamDepot"...

I am finding odder and odder things the deeper I look into this. If it wasn't the Dead Rising series... Not many series have me this dedicated... :)

While searching memory uninitialized in the hub, most seem to get it fixed by playing with the audio settings &/or compatibility modes, giving the exe itself admin access or even just restarting the machine. Few links with resolves:

You shouldn't need to launch the game directly from the exe, yet I do recall some people trying that

Just for reference, I'm running Win10 & all i did was download & launch from Steam (Steam is running with admin rights).

Hi. Oops, was looking in the same directory as DR2.exe and accompanying folders.

To be exact it comes up with a Memory Uninitialized error "among another truly bizarre error when launching the DR2.exe directly.

20mins approx left to install (Aus internet is slooo www.....apparently . We Aussies really don't havve a clue what fast speed is like. Downloading games in like 10mins? Unbelievable to us lol.)

Make changes as you see fit for your system, save the file and name it: Rendersettings.ini

Heya! Update: Correction. DR1 works fine. Working on getting DR2 running as I am confidant due to similarities of both the problem and the games themselves that fixing one will tell me how to fix the other. OK so... was going through your checklist and noticed there is no settings.ini (or rendersettings.ini) for DR2. Found an old post of yours saying install the game with Steam having admin rights. Doing that now. Am unsure it will work as I have tried giving DR2.exe admin rights, nope, nothing. Also gave admin rights to the Steam Client and got nowhere but haven't yet tried *installing WITH admin rights from start of fresh install*. Will let you know if this is the solution.

A game not launching could be any number of things, I've noted many fixes throughout the DR hubs, some unique to particular games & system setups. Reinstalling could help, but most of the general fixes you may have tried:

Problem with a corrupt or missing file
-Reverify the game cache through Steam.

Problem with a settings file
-Delete the settings file & relaunch the game

Problem with read & write privileges
-Try running steam in Admin mode (or without),

Problem with application handling
-Check Task Manager if the game is running silently in the background. exit it, relaunch.

Problem with a driver
-reinstall or update the drivers

Missing redistributables
-Install DirectX & vcredist

OS outdated
-Check if updates are needed

Don't meet system requirements
-Check the game listed requirements

(Most OS are supported & people have had success with others by running an exe in compatibility modes. Games requiring 64bit will not run on 32bit systems.)

Thanks! However, the bigger problem is when they are installed, they won't launch. It just says it is "Running" but nothing happens. I was trying aq fresh install as a desperate attempt to fix this. Do you know if reinstalling it fixes it/ (Not launching is actually the common issue I meant. Seems a LOT of people are getting this and it also seems most people with this problem (at least on the DR2 forum) give up and abandon the games, hence why advice for a fix for it not launching simply doesn't exist, not a solution anyway...

@Shodan Oops, almost forgot:
It's not mentioned in the video I linked but during & after trying all of this, you should also run Steam with Admin Rights. This should extend elevated read & write privileges to Steam & games launched from it.

Concerning this problem with a content lock problem...You gave me a scare telling me DR2 isn't working (My fav DR game). However, I downloaded & its currently running as I type this.

After searching around, it does seem this content lock issue is a growing problem with steam users for many type of games. I found plenty of search hits for it & just as many videos.

I hope it works out for you! Noone should be depraved of such an excellent series. Whatever the sole cause of it is, It's certainly not anything capcom has done to induce it post-launch.

Mikfail, hello! I was once a member/frequenter of the Dead Rising forums here on Steam. I *hate* to come to you with this but are you aware that DR1, 2 and 2 OTR won't launch? I have tried for *months* (on and off) to get it working and now upon reinstalling DR2 from scratch, it upon finishing gives a "Content File Locked" error so now I can't even install the game. Please help! What the hell is going on? As I recall, all 3 stopped working at the same time and this is a widely common problem, it seems. Any idea at all what's up? I'm honestly starting to suspect Capcom quietly disabled the games cuz they won;'t comment on the forums...
