I'm scared

My retinas are burned orange

Installed a mod for mile long trains, proceeded to get stuck at an awful junction and crossing for 10 minutes, left feeling fully immersed and missing half a litre of fuel.

Assetto Corsa is one of the very few games I consider a true must-play in the genre, while the base game feels great on its own, the unequalled mod support (especially through the alternative Content Manager launcher) sets this game miles apart from others in a very good way. There is an ever evolving catalogue of cars and tracks available to download and drop right into the game from the community, which at the peak of my install included over 1000 cars, as well as multiple graphics tweaks, interface apps, liveries, and in one case even an entire weather and rain physics overhaul. It is the most adjustable and personable racing game currently on the market.

The game does go on sale a lot and most times for huge discounts, but even full price I would consider this a very worthwhile purchase if you are a fan of simulator racing games. Be wary that it takes a bit of adjustment if you only have a controller.

I love this game, it’s a fairly unique concept in a setting not really like any other, and the mechanics, when functioning properly, are really fun. It held my interest the entire way through and I’d definitely play through it again.

But I can’t support the developers.

Last month, they pulled another game of theirs, Second Extinction, after over a year of radio silence. They will also be taking the servers down in 2024 and the game is not playable offline.

With that in mind, and comparing some of the more undesirable aspects of this game, such as the heavily reused assets, various bugs in graphics and mechanics, as well as terrible optimisation, and the developers focus on new DLC, the majority of which cosmetics, instead of fixing the games glaring issues, I can only say be wary if you plan on getting Generation Zero.

I want to recommend this game, but the developers are far too shady in recent times to do so.
