Anyone seen my Keys to the Batwing?

Sidescroller meets Batman! but how well did the mix go?...
This is the 2nd Game in the Arkham Series storyline. It is noticeably different in terms of gameplay and the players perspective when playing. This biggest difference to other games that this has, is definetely the Side-Scrolling Style. It is a 2.5 Dimensional Experience (Wrap your head around that!) -Basically mortal kombat 9..
The main reasons for the change are:
-Armature Studios (Known for Metroid) created the bulk of content here.
-WB Games wanted to include Ps Vita Users and even 3DS users in the Arkham series, since Batman was growing in popularity! (Everybody loves Batman right?) So this style was more handheld friendly.
-An experient really, to see how well it would work in that sort of environment.
Now Because it is so apart from the other game, it recieved bad reviews for PC. As a PS Vita game it is immpressive, but as a PC Game...
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=582629249

Because of the style that the Arkham games have used so well(Open world, free-flow combat, third person, etc.), this game obviousy had to bring lots to the table to make up for the lacking features of the regulars. But does it deliver? thats the Big question, lets see if i can give it justice where its needed. Here is the Pros and Cons:

PROS:
+Interesting side scrolling variant! the introduction of new environments and camera angles that the average third person view wont cut. There are parts where it definetely shows its potential.
+The Progression (Suit armour, Waynetech Upgrades and Combat Unlockables) is done carefully like the other games, but it seems more noticeable than the other games. The Natural Progression that youl find is the best kind there is.
+The Detective mode is very unique and definetely reminds everyone that this was designed for a handheld gaming device.(Swipe finger to use and all that.), but it does shine a new light on detective skills and finding well hidden clues.
+Because it is 2.5D, the Combat is simplified quite a bit, hihgh combos will be much easier to achieve. This is one of the many parts that gets Simplified. (Other examples include: Stealth sequences, hiding areas, Gadget use and the Detective scanner.) -However, Many people who liked the origal combat system will dislike this.
+The Plot is good and the map is heavily influenced by the ongoing story. There are 3 main sections to play in. (These include The Cells blocks, Administration and Industrial.)The best part about these seperate locations is that each one has been captured by 3 of Batman's Biggest villains...Black Mask, Joker and Penguin. This works very well with the story and the feeling of liberating each one is great! Although it isn't as large and "free" as the other games.
+First Appearance of Catwoman in the Arkham Storyline. Amd many new characters are introduced
+The Cutscene illustration is amazing! Its like watching a cartoon or a slideshow in the Batman universe. Its very unique when compared to the other games and its Art-style is a welcome addition to the series. They do seem a bit lazy in parts and switch pictures rather than a fluid scene. This wasnt a big issue for me however.
+The Boss battles are mostly great and provide a respectful difficulty spike in various environements. Guards everywhere with flamethrowers equip Vs gargoyle-hopping stealth sections are a great mix!
+Many Unlockable suits and upgrades provided some reasons for replayability, you wont get everything all your first playthrough either. Lots of cool suits however so i felt that it was worth it at least.
+The Length of 6-8 hours seems normal and proportional for a title of its style and content.
+Serves as an expansion into the world of the Arkham Games, not much else. But it is very interesting because it does take place in Blackgate Penitentiary (The Main Prison before Arkham Asylum.) which is an entirely new location. So at least there is competely new areas to explore.
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=582629424
CONS:
-Recylces lots of content from previous games
-Story is interesting at many parts, but the execution of the concepts appear Too Linear and Dull far more than enough. The Cutscenes do a good job with introductions to characters, important fight scenes and Montages...but thats about it! No long term events, no cliff hangers, hardly anything to lead into the future. The Major build ups to Boss battles or other important sections feel too slow and often include LOTS of backtracking, Especially at the start and even middle of the game. Backtracking is ok, but generally its better if the reason is very justified and well explained. Why get something on the other side of the map, when you can call the Batwing?
-Stealth is suuuper limited for this kind of game, which is a big shame. Because Batman is meant to be an All-Rounder Hero with many different approaches to dangerous situations!
-Because this game was intended for the PS Vita, it has various technical features that are either dumbed down or removed entirely to make it "fit" properly.
-Something minor really but, Collectible placement is the dumbest thing ever! Why is there Waynetech Crates with Armour upgrades within the cells of Blackgate? Is Bruce trying to recover them all from the Incredibly sly criminals who took them? I'll never know...
-So many Boring environments that feel dull and repeated. At least each of the 3 locations has something new to show. Otherwise they wouldnt have a very effective name at all.
-Controls are clunky at the best of times and due to the changing camera angles (When you turn corners, or falll down a hole.) you have to expect quick movement control swaps or little things like that.
-Graphics are the worst of the series, but this just relates back to the fact that it wasnt intended for PC or console.
-Voice Acting is Mainly Sub-Standard, but some characters are done well because they have amazing Voice Actors! (Penguin, Joker and Catwoman sound the best.) This is important for the plot, but doesnt make a huuuge difference. Except when an important Person is talking and you need to work with them/save them! (Giving these kinds of NPC's a few lines for a big chunk of gameplay is strange!)
https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=593382815
Final Thoughts:
Well, its no masterpiece, far from it in fact. But people should definetely view this game for the way it was intended and presented. Not a solid Block of story to continue on from Origins. Instead I like to see it as a "test" for the PS Vita to see if The Arkham Series can be introduced to it. And my answer to that "Test" is a big YES! Although the PC Port is another story!
Brief:
  • If you like Side scrollers and Action Games, this is for you.
  • If you have been playing much of the arkham series casually and are unsure to get this one, you can take a miss for sure.
  • If you like Batman and want to see the unique art-style that this game has to offer, this is definetely for you.
  • If you are tired of reading this review, dont worry its almost the end
Overall I rate this game an Average score of 6.5/10
Not the best adaptation for Batman, and definetely not one that he needed either. But it exists and it has many good points in the story. Not sure about the continuation though.

Leave a comment below with anything i missed, or any questions. Now if you'll excuse me, im going to play the game all over again to get the other 2 endings...Like that'll ever happen >;)

"Nice of you to drop in Bats!"

This is the 1st Arkham Game in the series. (Chronological Order) Released in October 2013. Being the first game, it serves as the Action-packed Origin Story where (A Fresh from Training.) Bruce learns many new skills and meets many vital characters in the Arkham Storyline! (Note that this is Rocksteady's adaptation so it will be different to any origins or sagas from the comics! This is a Videogame Dammit!)
Also i wont Spoil anything from the story here because im reviewing overall content and mechanics, not specific parts of the plot. You can find a neat summary on the games page for this. ;)
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=630865902
Without further ado, lets get to the Black and the White, the Strengths and the Reserved Judgement that is the...
Pros and Cons.

PROS:
+Pointy Bat-ears Strike Fear into Dumb thugs! xD
+The Plot is done in such a way that its almost episodic and gives each character a balanced time in the spotight! (Before being beaten up by Batman.) Lots of new enemies are introduced especially, their origins are also given an arkham game spin. This is the origins game of the series and revelas lots and lots about the people of gotham! No spoilers here but there are many plot twists and interesting turns for the story, though they could take a while to be revealed.
+Graphics are good for the time, couldnt ask for more here. Its what you would expect from 2013, nothing more, nothing less. Lots of little effects like snowfall and chilled breaths give gotham a true Christmas feel.
+His Cowl+Snowflakes=<3
+Bigger Map Size which is surprisingly dense with activities. It expands on Arkham Cities map and adds south gotham to The North, connected by the gotham pioneer bridge. Gliding across the snow capped rooftops of The Major Areas of Gotham is a really unique feeling. Especially for a Batman game.
+Collectibles will keep any gamer busy for at least a few days! (Maybe too many...)
+The Boss battles are Balanced and shouldnt take too long to complete. Although many of them use repeating sequences, they will be beaten quickly so its not too much of a problem!
+The Origins of the Characters are generally really well done! If you cant see this game as a big new entry to the series, you can at least view it as a backstory to other games in the series. (As it is the First.) Bruce's story about developing into a more solid and refined figure of justice is given to us in an immpressive way. The Pacing of the plot is done well, but you are reminded often that this is far from a cinematic experience. I wouldnt imagine seein this as a film at all (Which is probably for the better.)
+Many new Features to gameplay include: Enhanced Detective Mode with the ability to "rewind" scenarios, new gadgets and interface additions. (Keep in mind that he gets all of these NEW features before Arkham Asylum!!)
+It has Added Multiplayer for the first time! I've tried it only a few times so i cant say much but it does have some good modes and progression. But im betting people will buy this for the story, combat and thrill of being Brucey boy!
+Story is about 12-16 hours without touching on any of the other fun Activities! This is definetely long enough for gamers and it is the average length for the Arkham games too, so thats good!
+Once again, the combat system is done so well, its just so smooth! It seems like Batman is just dancing at some points, he feels in the zone at some times! Although, saying that, the targetting can get a bit off a completely ruin a huge combo..The Combat system is simple enough to understand quickly but complex enough to put major effort into strining together some Badass combos! The Mechanics of Hand to Hand (To Gadget too!) Combat in the Arkham Games are a true marvel of third person Action games, and many games (Of the same genre) have tried to dupicate aspects that stood out. Watch some gameplay of challenge maps if you still arent convinced. (I do wish there was a mode where a comic balloon would pop out and say Kapow! or Wack! with every few punches and kicks. ;D)

Cons:
-Its Riddled (See what i did there) with bugs and even some crashes at times. Although the main offender is frame drops in graphically busy sequences. These are minor issues but people have been known to have much worse. Obviously on Launch there was some Large problems that arose, but they were quickly patched by Rocksteady. (Every game will have issues on launch! just depends how much coverage they get really!)
-A Gloomy Gotham leads to Brightness issues and an annoying fog thats makes it hard to see long distances.
-Mission objectives often include much Backtracking, Many Dull Dialogue scenes and timed sequences that seem far to easy to the average gamer.
-Linear Environment around the City. Like Doors that you cant open at all, Blank and boring walls, Slow Animations and No Miscellaneous Interactive objects to find!
-Repetitive boss battles! The Deathstroke one is the worst offender!its really only3 different Counters and then a simple beatdown for one of the best mercenaries in DC!? A Skillful Meta-human gets given this disgraceful Repeat of actions? Quite sad really. Boss battles actually have variation between each major VIllain, taking a new apporach to defeat them really uses all of Batmans Skill and Gadgets. However i felt that they were generally better in the other Arkham Games.
-The New detective mode has difficult controls and slows down the story a bit too much at times. You know exactly where B is but you havent found the right Clues to find A beforehand... The Hiding of Evidence is a bit too easy as well.
Give us a bigger Challenge Rocksteady!
-The Pacing was a bit strange as well! After a huge boss battle, it would be nice to follow up and see how alfred is doing (And join him for a cuppa!) and fix up your suit right? Instead you will get a call from Enigma and will have to deactivate some bombs straight away! Ignore the fact that Batman is a human being and even he has a bedtime! He must have adrenaline built into the suit...
-The Plot would have been better with some emotional scenes or bonds built with certain figures even!
A Sequence about Bruces life, A flashback to when he is training on a mountain. This comes back to pacing and where the story is going...It does have Lots of Plot twists!
-Among others, Bane is a very different Character, same as many villains. Although this can be excused due to origins and all that. Some Personalities or even costumes for Batman's Foes were a bit of a strange choice. But then again, i read the old school comics so i keep comparing their personalities, etc.
-Some Gadgets you will hardly use outside of missions and thir uses were too specific to stand out as a true Batman Toy. The Electrical Charge or disrupter (Although useful for armed thugs!) will never match the various functions of the Grapple hook or the Remote-Batarang.
-The Colour theme seems dull compared to the other games i the series, this is obviously due to the season and the industrial design. But interiors should be more plentiful and have more Variety too!
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=631199122

Final Thoughts
Overall I give this Plot-Packed Arkam experience a 7/10!
Light on the New Features and Colours, but heavy on the Origin stories and Combat (Once again) this is a must-by for Batman lovers, just to see Rocksteady's take on the Caped-Crusader's rough side...and the familiar line up of Villains that we all know and love. Athough it does have numerous technical Issues and repetitve missions that will be noticeable.
Don your Cowl and Gadget Belt, and Glide into this Super-hero Experience Today!

Dont forget to Leave a comment if i missed anything important in this game! Now if you'll excuse me, some Thugs are clipping through walls...

~Maximum Review~

This Action-FPS game was released back in November, 2007. But at the time it had some of the best graphics ever for a game of its kind! The main reason behind this was the kickass-German made Crytek engine that used a heavy demand on graphics cards at the time to present lots of new features. Does crytek sound familiar at all? if it does-that is because they also created the first far cry game waay back in 2004!
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687933321
These kinds of games typically have big expanses of various maps and consists of stealth missions near the start and middle sections but blooms into a beautiful action-set experience with lots of options! (Even some optional quests!). Crysis was no different and delivered a great action game with many new useful features/gameplay mechanics that more than made up for simpified story sequences, crappy nano-suit power (It is the damn future!) and some really dumb AI.
Anyway i dont want to list everything this game offers here! instead ill chop it into clean little pieces and serve you....The Pros and Cons.

Pros:
+SO many awesome small little additions to gameplay that make a big difference! Some of these include: Your PC's battery level shown, lots more graphics and weapon options at the time, Minimap accuracy with coordinates, enhanced physics and a deadly shark to stop people from leaving the map! A frickin shark!!
+I really liked the Abilities FOR the nanosuit, but not the Nanosuit itself (Because of numerous energy reasons that ill describe in Cons below) The Cloak, Speed and Strength are used regularly, and for good reason!
+The Story is very strong and warhead fits in very well. The Title really fits the plot! and the "Futuristic spelling" helps a little bit too i guess. No Purposeful emotional scenes or anything like that, its an action game dammit! Shoot Cephs first and ask questions later!.But the story has got some great seperation between the stealth and action sequences! A calm cutscene to recap what big event just occured, followed by a guerilla-style trespass on an enemy base is a great mix! Basicsally what im trying to say is that the Pacing in this game is very well done.
+The Vehicles some of which include: A tank, a Vtol jet, a Military jeep and military dinghyhandle very well surprisingly and are easy to control, speaking of that...
+The tutorial is hardly a tuturial and just a slow part of the story that just happens to teach you the controls. Which are simple and very easy to change! (Loads of settings means more gameplay styles to suit more people=potential larger audience)
+Map is big and cut into sections, but that doesnt really matter as you traverse most of the area with ease. Missions take you to several different locations some of which include: A Dense Tropical Forest, a Launch Site, Dig sites, Tank battleground (Large Clearing with airdrops) and even an Aircraft carrier! Dont classify this as an open world game at all! It is very linear like Basically all FPS shooters. It just has a big map for a few missions then changes it for a smaller, denser one And Repeats often.
+Weapons are quite realistic and have noticeable effects with mixed with the nano-suits abilities! Bullpup rifles will have more recoil than the generic AK-47 found often and it will effect your aiming long distance!
+The Way the Story transforms into the action packed shooter with various sci-fi elements attatched it amazing! If you asked me at the start of the game how i thought it would end, i would give a very different answer. But this is good! It means that the story will keep you guessing often while it introduces new Things to you.
+I couldnt talk about the pros without mentioning the Graphics that it possesses, it is has lots of technical features that i could fill the list with but instead ill give you this Link[dsogaming.com] Basically with mods it can run at 8k 60fps and all that good stuff. But remember this is extremely specific to most people. Depends if you care enough about it to mod the games really. But without it, it is definetely impressive
+Enemies are difficult at times, and can be placed in such environments to even give some peope a fright!
+Speaking of Difficulty...Try Delta! it really changes the game and makes you appreciate corners and baricades more than parts of the environment!
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687933511
Cons:
-Below-average boss battles, with repetitive strategies to defeat them. Especially at the end! Also i found myself restarting plenty of time because i didnt understand how to beat them clearly!
-The AI in this game is quite dumb and found some soliders running into walls, ignoring me throwing grenades and even firing their guns randomly! (Who are they recruiting?).
-The games "maps" are surprisingly linear as i said above and you are contantly reminded of this if you go slight too far away from the beach, or from a checkpoint, etc.
-Nanosuit is so Underpowered. The features are great and well thought out, but due to the double A batteries of the suit most of the abilities run out after about 5-10 seconds! Running is definetely the worst offender, because it is one of the most useful mechanics in the game (And would have made speedrunning quite easy!) it is just sapped away by the energy so quickly! This might not seem too important to some people, but remember if you are in a fire-fight with enemies and you just used a different Ability (eg.Cloak-Mode) your energy will be sapped and if you need to make a inhumanly-quick escape...you can see where this is going.
-Most of the Map is just jungle with beach attatched! it gets so boring after a little while and you always look for a car to drive quickly to the next location because you dont want to take a slow walk and "Enjoy" whats on offer. Because there really isnt much! although it may look very beautiful and all, it is not dense at all (Full with structures or unique features) much like Just Cause 1, 2 and 3! Although this is a linear shooter at the end of the day, it feels like in some sequences, its trying to awkwardly change that!
-Lots of Glitches (Obviously! no game is perfect..) that affect the game's graphics and also a crappy save system which, although being very manual to the player, has a very irritating habit of saving before a big battle. Now what would happen if you arrived early to said battle and were already taking lots of damage? Maybe an explosion happens at the last second? Save System: "Go Back 30 mins to the slow-stealth section please!"
-Many minor parts of gameplay, controls or even visual effects will obviosuly be beaten by games today. So Ignorant players expecting a Battlefield 4 style Combat system will obviously not recieve it (The Combat/Weapon system and variety develops heavily in the second game!). Not really a Con, more of a "warning". But people know what they can expect now cant they!

Final Thoughts:
I give this game a 9/10! If you even remotely enjoyed Far Cry 1 or even 2, you will love the version with Aliens, futuristic weapons, and various Gameplay Tweaks.
Highly Recommended for Anyone who likes FPS games in general, Expansive Areas and Sci-Fi Elements.

Budget Zombie Game 2: Return of the escort missions

TLDR:
If you didnt like the first game you deifnetely wont enjoy this one.

https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=448065631
This game is a very average sequel and it proves that point often with many dull questlines, faulted gameplay mechanics and real connection with the player.
While the previous game had all of this and probably more, it can mostly be forgiven in my opinion because it was older and didnt have to live up to any previous games.
This wasnt the most popular game when it was released due to some reviewers dumbing things down and critising more than enough to balance the game. But i have had some fun experiences with this game. Being the short zombie Island exploring game that it is, it has much to offer in terms of exploration and side quests aplenty! But note this is an easily short game to binge with others. the ammount of content on offer only goes so far!
This game has an avergage length of 34 hours to 100% complete
Meanwhilte its predessecor has an average time of 46 hours (At least for me.)
The point im trying to make is that if you are looking for any slither of replayability here...good luck.
Enough Briefing, time to boil it down to... The Pros and Cons

Pros:
+Original Setting that really nails the tropical environment. (Palanai has 2 main maps and a smaller main-mission area Palanai Mainland, Henderson and Pinai
+Lots of new and improved upgrades! Good for players who liked the blueprints in the first game. The arsenal is expanded to hold various new Zombie Killing Tools! From a Harpoon-gun to broadswords and even a Rocket Launcher
+New character to play as! an Australian Badass known as Sergeant John Morgan.
+Locations for the main quest are well suited to the Environment around you.
+Continuation from the First game is simple (Too simple..) and easy to get into.
+Co-Op mode is a must try, it really makes the game a lot more fun! Also you can revive them, trade with them, Create competitions and drive together. It mainly improves the length of riptide's playing life. Also due to the story it makes more sense to have a full team playing all together. (Because they all show up in cutscenes!).
+Explosions and special effects like headshots and simple decapitations look good on normal/high settings. Much, much better than the first game.
+The Skill tree and levelling up in general is handled slowly but is more detailed and rewarding than the first game. The best thing about this is that if you have save data from DI1, you can continue playing with that character! (XP and story only.)
+Collectibles reveal a lot more about the locations that the story cant explain. Some audio logs make references to the events of the first game even.
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=448068305

Cons:
-Why Give us weapons that are only obtainable after you have completed all the missions?
-Rare and Legendary drop rates are comparable to csgo knife drops.
-Motion blur is a big pain! introduce yourself to the visual and auio settings, you will be staying for a while!
-Quests are boring and some feel like you make no impact whatsoever. Main quests should never give players this feeling!
-Why the heck are bloody fetch quests still here?? go away! or at least attempt to make them unique or harder..
-Some controls are really difficult to get used to, planning to use a controller? better read the tutorial for that as some bedtime reading!
-The Graphics have barely improved from the first game, if anything they have gotten worse.
-Faar too many items to collect, craft and sell. overcomplicates the whole weapon modification
-Frame rate stuttering and freezing a some graphical issues faced when playing. ( I experienced it about 8 times through the story.)
-(The very few) Boss battles in the game are repetitive and have no impact on the story, only to introduce the next big mutated zombie..
-So many skilltree abilities are just so useless and overly specific.
-If you have lots of money that you have worked for ad you die, you will lose 30% of all of it! that might not seen like a lot but remember how often some people might die! I absolutely hate this mechanic in DI1 and now it continues into this game too. Punishment for exploring too much and dying? thank goodness dying light didn't have this Sinful mechanic!
-The game will get stale quickly once you have tried everything/travelled there once. Not much is worth trying again just for fun/experiences. You wont go halfway across the map in most games just to watch a cliff watefall and sunset but you get my point.
-Dialogue is very badly written along with some voice acting that made me cringe multiple times.
-The map size is tiny. the Game is basically made of 3 Main Sections that you fast travel between and the largest one is a tiny town with horrible repetition and lazy building placement. The locations get stale after only a few quests.
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=442449551
Final Verdict:
-Dead Island deserved a second Game, but Riptide doesn’t make the most of the "palette" presented to it. If you can get to it, there’s still the skeleton of a good game, but it’s covered by too much zombie flesh and discarded weapons.
I rate this game a 4/10
https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=447504679
NOT recommended to new players, but fans of the original will gobble up this sub-standard zombie slasher. If you really are considering buying this, I have one piece of advice...get your mates to join.

Aliens vs Predator in depth Review

Gameplay
☐ Hands couldn't stay away from the mouse & keyboard
☐ Captivating
☑ Average
☐ Underwhelming

Graphics
☐ My eyes have been blessed
☐ Beautiful
☑ Average for the time it was released (2010)
☐ Garbage for the quality that I expected from this game

PC Required
☑ A potato will suffice (This game is 12 years old at the time of this review!)
☐ Average PC
☐ Entry Level Gaming PC
☐ Mid-High level Gaming PC

Story
☐ Minimal
☐ Average
☑ Better than I expected (Marine's campaign and Audio Logs create a good quantity of Lore for the player to digest. The story itself is very basic and doesnt throw anything unexpected at the player, which I found to be a shame. I would have loved to see a plot twist or a major character die.)
The overall length of the 3 Campaigns combined is only 8 to 14 hours depending on playstyle.
☐ Sucks you into the world!

Difficulty
☐ Game Journalist friendly
☐ A fair challenge
☑ Frustrating (The controls while playing as the Marine are very clunky. Some very irritating examples of the frustrating controls include not being able to reload while running, physical inability to jump higher than 10 centimetres, inability to cancel a reload, No ADS, Cant even crouch, Take cover, go prone or vault over anything higher than 1 foot.
☐ I smashed my pc setup

Replayability
☑ One and done (Once you complete the story itself, the lackluster controls, lazy mechanics and repetitive soundtrack will not entice you to return...)
☐ Justifies a replay for any missing content/ collectibles
☐ Multiple playthroughs won't hurt
☐ You could honestly play this daily (But probably should go outside instead)

Pricing
☐ It's freeeee
☐ Worth the price
☑ You should wait for a sale (Not worth full price as all the Single player Campaigns are surprisingly short, especially the Xenomorph campaign. Its worth mentioning that the MP is completely dead)

Bugs
☐ Polished gem
☑ Minor bugs (Lighting oddities, Enemies getting stuck in the terrain and sometimes even dying from no reason were the main bugs that I experienced during my time playing this game.)
☐ Bugs hinder experience
☐ Broken experience. It's like trying to enjoy a sunny sail while your boat is full of holes.

Overall Rating: 5/10
A painfully average shooter that barely does well enough to be a part of the AvP universe. I've n idea if this game counts as Canon but if im honest, I hope it doesnt. The game is far too short and the story far too bland to warrant repeat playthroughs. The highlights of the game itself are probably the Various Boss battles, Creepy ambient soundtrack, Operating an iconic Smart-gun, Harvesting unsuspecting Colonists when playing as the Xenomorph and playing the Survival Mode (Endless Arena) with a buddy. Nothing else really caught my attention and the remaining achievements that I need, require me to invest time into the game that I honestly dont want to spend.
Shame they never made a sequel/ prequel though, especially since it ends on a cliffhanger!

My advice is, buy this if you love the AvP universe or if you like older shooters and this one happens to be on sale!

Overall Rating: 7/10

Pro’s:
  • Many more weapons than in the first game, you have access to Sniper Rifles, Spear launchers, Rivet Guns and more. While not all of these are very useful (A Military-grade Sniper rifle is useless against almost always rushing enemies), its great that you have more choice to mix and match your preferred arsenal! I especially like the Javelin Gun and its secondary ability. (Electrifies the most recent javelin that was shot, dealing damage to enemies that are nearby or still skewered!)
  • Zero-G is miles better than in the (original) first game. You can move around freely and control your traversal speed too! It does take some getting used to though and it isnt nearly as polished as the Zero-G mechanic in DS3 and the DS1 Remake, but it is still a much needed improvement.
  • Some of the areas that you visit in this game are incredible! You traverse through a Unitologist Church, the Quarantined Remains of the USG Ishimura, a mental Asylum, Mining facilities, Massive Solar Arrays and even an unsettling encounter inside of Isaac's mind!
  • The Stalker enemies (Which you first encounter in Chapter 4) are terrifying and designed brilliantly. Every encounter with them is terrifying and it focres you to slow down and think strategically wwhen entering their territory. As a result, this screeching nightmare really fits into the world of Dead Space!
  • The ending credits theme is epic and sounds especially sexy when finishing the game on HardCore difficulty!
Con’s:
  • Unskippable cutscenes, again
  • No Severed DLC Campaign. Why this was never added to PC I will never know...
  • Cant change weapons while reloading. Cant cancel a reload either, which can prove to really screw you up while in combat!
  • No Achievements in the steam version. Another feature that the consoles have which the pc does not!
  • The game overuses QTEs and they get very stale by the end of the game. I especially dislike these moments when I am replaying the game as they lose all sense of tension or impact. mashing the same button for all QTEs is also very lazy game design as you can always rely on the same button to mash! (Basically, there are no surprises or extra challenges when it comes to the QTE inputs.)
  • IMO, the final Boss battle sucks and isnt nearly as grandiose as the first game's climactic encounter with the Necromorph"Hive Mind". I did not enjoy the sequence of shooting constantly respawning and reskinned necromorph enemies whilst also shooting at the Phantom Nicole enough to weaken the Pulsing Marker in the background. The whole encounter just felt far too frantic and the constantly respawning enemies forced me to deal with them for the majority of the encounter, leaving very little time to shoot at Nicole, who is the actual "Boss" here!
  • Nodes cannot be sold in the store. This oversight, which is present in all of the DS games, makes obtaining Nodes completely pointless once you have maxed out all of the weapons. While this is only noticeable in Repeat/ NG+ playthroughs (Where you have already obtained the sufficient Nodes to upgrade every weapon type), it becomes a noticeable issue/oversight which always bothered me as the Power Nodes continue to spawn normally throughout the game's levels. Which would really only make sense if you could sell them. Yet you cannot, which unfortunetely makes them a completely useless Item!
  • New game plus mode doesnt really add enough new content or features to the game to justify playing through it again. No new enemies, no new secrets, no new weapons or weapon upgrades, no new Lore or logs, no new bonus game modes and no gameplay modifiers.
All you get as a rewared are 4 different "Elite Suit" Schematics, which you will have to FIND throughout the game's levels in a NG+ savegame. This means that in order to obtain each of these new Elite Suit variations, you will have to play through the game AGAIN until Chapter 11, where you can find the final Elite Suit Schematic. Why tf isnt the player just given these 4 Schematics from Chapter 1?? Overall, a terrible reward compared to the completion unlocks from Dead Space 1,3 and the Remake! Making the player work for rewards they have technically already unlocked and would be keen to utilise asap is just plain unfair!
  • The constant reappearance of Nicole and her loud, distorted, static is super annoying and loses its impact after the first 3 damn times. Making the player feel bad for a "decision" they didnt even make was frankly terrible part of Isaac's plotline with Nicole. I dont care about her, her relationship with Isaac or even her death. However, I DO care about how often she appears to abuse my ears and perform flashing and predictable jump scares!
  • The bosses in this game are faar worse than the bosses in DS1. One of the bosses in the game is killed via Quick time events, so underwhelming! None of the new boss-type enemies interested me in terms of gameplay, however their design and sounds were almost always fantastic.

DOOM 3 [BFG Edition] Review
More of a "combination of decent products" than the proper "Remaster" which DooM 3 Classic truly deserved

This product/store listing includes the following:
1) DooM 3 Classic
2) DooM 3 ROE Expansion Standalone(Sequel Expansion)
3) DooM 3 BFG Edition (A generally lackluster remaster which includes updated versions of the above games and a new but very short level pack called "The Lost Mission".
Also included in the BFG Edition itself are:
4) An integrated version of the Ultimate DooM.
5) An integrated version of DooM 2.

This is great Value for money, but ONLY if you are a fan of DooM 3's unique direction.
Classic DooM Fans will be dissapointed here as both ports of DooM 1 and 2 are missing features, censored in places (I will talk more about this in the Cons Section) and lack any kind of mod support. This makes them terrible versions of the beloved Classic Shooters. I highly recommend visiting DooM 1 and 2's own steam store pages and reading the reviews. If you dont care too much about Mods and a few small missing features, then DooM 3 BFG Edition's versions should suffice!
Best Version of DooM 1
Best Version of DooM 2

Overall Rating: 5/10

Pro’s:
  • Super Shotgun feels suitably meaty...but you cant use it in the DooM 3 base game. (Only ROE and TLM)
  • Very Fast loading times compared to the original DooM 3.
  • Many of the scenarios you encounter suit the horror theme well and the few times you arent being jump scared by imps, you can notice some light environmental storytelling and sometimes even hear the haunting echoing laughter of the game's antagonist.
However, This game would have been a great horror experience...If it wasnt a part of the DooM franchise. I feel that the game doesnt seem to commit fully to the Horror or Action Themes/Tones and the game's quality truly suffers as a result.
  • Much better visuals that feel sharper as well as noticeably improved lighting over the original. The UI is now cleaner, with a better resolution and superior accessability. Though I will mention that looking at your PDA (The game's "Collectible logs" interface) Does not pause or even slow down the game. Meaning that you can get killed by enemies while inside. This is more irritating than a proper critiscm but I wanted to mention it.
  • Mars city starting areas set up a great story, easily missable gems of lore in the form of worker conversations, emails, PA announcements, and collectible Video logs. It truly felt like the UAC were giving off some Weyland Yutani vibes and I really enjoyed that. I want to mention that the background lore and tucked away areas are a real goldmine for observant players that are hungry for more of the game's world.
  • The Value for money here is obvious!
  • The many Textures and surface details have been (Slightly) improved from the original DooM 3 game. However utilising any of the many HD or "2.0" mods for the original version of DooM 3 will provide better lighting, texture filtering, SFX, Shadows, Object detail, etc than the BFG Edition. If you want to experience the best looking DooM 3 or ROE you can, simply purchase and install a bunch of Mods for them seperately! More work, but better end result.
  • Hell Landscapes are breathtaking and are on par with Doom 2016's depiction of the Underworld! The striking Skyboxes, enemy reskins, Haunting ambience and lovecraftian architecture all merge together impressively well. Probably the best level/area in DooM 3's campaign!
  • A total of 65 steam achievements give you a lot of reason to play through all 3 games! However the 5 DooM 3 Multiplayer achievements are garbage and should never have been implemented. The MP is trash (not to mention dead), so good luck getting 100%!
Con’s:
  • Damn unskippable cutscenes!
  • No official Mod support. This just ensures that the original DooM 3 will be more popular over time due to the variety of mods avaliable for it. id Software's Choice/ Oversight not to include a good method for modders to create, implement and distribute mods for the game was very disap. It makes the BFG Edition feel like a rushed console version of DooM 3 with a few small fancy changes, at least to me.
  • Far too many ammo and health pickups, even on Veteran (Hard) Difficulty!
  • The "modernised" Designs of the enemies from Doom 1 and 2 are mostly good looking, save for a few ugly models. (Cacodemon, Cyberdemon, Spider Mastermind?, Pinky and the Lost souls look pretty bad imo) My personal favourite enemy designs are that of the Hulking Hell Knights and the Buff, Shirtless Zombie Chaingunners!
  • Freezing on occasion when saving the game
  • Both of DooM 2's Wolfenstein Secret levels have to censored into the ground. NO Nazi Enemies, NO Swastikas, Replaced music with default DooM 2 level tracks and (Thankfully there is a mod to revert this back to the original version)
  • Cant swap weapons while reloading
  • Adding a damn stamina Bar in a DooM game is just criminal and serves little to no point during gameplay.
  • Unable to play Nightmare difficulty mode without beating the game first. Why??
  • MP is dead af, which sucks as this game features 5 MULTIPLAYER ONLY ACHIEVEMENTS. I hate MP achievements in general but even more so for dead games..
  • Cant change resolution in windowed mode.
  • Nightmare difficulty's Health drain mechanic is absolute trash and means that while exploring out of combat or during long story sequences, your health will drain down to 25! This is a quarter of your full health and leaves you at a huge disadvantage during combat. This is artifical difficulty at its finest and I absolutely despise it.
  • The original Doom 3 is far better in terms of mod support. It may be an old game but there are many more options when it comes to customising your experience with visual upgrades, custom maps, sound replacements, lighting fixes, bug fixes and even co-op for the main game! Thankfully it is included in this package.
  • Imp jumpscares are used so often it gets boring and dull after the 5th time it occurs. They frequently spawn behind doors, just behind you when grabbing key items and drop down from the ceiling vents. While these do give players a good jump or two during the early levels where you are not well armed or used to their AI, after this happens multiple times, it very quickly loses its horror charm. unique and infrequent jump scares = Good, Repetitive and predictable Jump scares = Bad
  • Lost mission is the only truly unique content in this game that you simply cant play elsewhere. However it is extremely short compared to the other expansion for Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil. I played through this on Veteran, finding secrets where I could and trying not to rush during my playthrough, however it still took me only around 2 Hours to beat!
Extra Note: The final boss of this "expansion" is a recycled boss from Doom 3 with simplified mechanics. Very lackluster! Especially considering this is the only part of the BFG edition you cant just play elsewhere. If you want the true Doom 3 experience, play it with all the sexy mods you can find on Nexus-mods, ModDB or elsewhere. This will objectively provide a better experience as the mods provide so many different styles and themes to the underrated shooter that is DooM 3. (Did I mention there is a Co-op mod too?)
  • The Environments and associated Levels that you traverse are extremely repetitive and may change texture and enemies, but very rarely do the levels change their shape and design. Industrial Hallways, Research Labs, Futuristic Military interiors and Power stations seem to be the most common places you will visit during the game and its expansions.
If Quake 1's colour palette is full of a Haunting Brown, DooM 3's is full of a Gunmetal Grey...

Who do you Voodoo?
Zombie Outbreak meets Tropical holiday destination, is the Blend right? Lets check out the Pros and Cons!
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=157767747
Pros:
+Contains a lengthy story that will take you hours to complete.
+The HUD interface is actually quite easy to understand and get used to.
+Most Achievements are fun to get... But not all (eg. "Swing em Sticks" was a real B*tch to get)
+A Vast and surprisingly Complex (Behind the curtains) Weapons system shows the player certain benefits and compromises for each class (Eg. Katana's are fast and Cut well when they can, but have very low durability and make the character tired after a short ammount of time.)
+Items placements are normally realistic (For example it'll be much harder to find Weapon Ammo in the Resort than in a Jungle hideout)
+Main Characters are Likeable, and provide 4 different play-styles and Overall benefits compared to the next. (Eg. Xian is Knives Expert, Purna is Guns expert, Logan is throwables Expert, and Sam is Blunt Expert. This also means that Sam.B will never have as much Throwing range as Logan because he Logan prides himself in this. Also Logan will not have as much Stamina while handling Heavy Blunt weapons just like Sam. But these many Differences shouldn't change the game in a noticable way, unless you want to pick a character specially because of their Base Benefits, etc.
http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=432925245
Cons:
-So many Glitches. mainly visual stuff that shows off where the devs got a bit lazy but also experienced 10+ gameplay bugs and crashes during my playtime.
-The Dialogue sounds really dumb and not thought out at times of the game, voice acting is mainly alright though. (Especially during side quests when you meet wacky Characters.)
-The water physics are garbage. why is water effects even in this game??
-Car mechanics are clunky af and feel awkward to use
-The best weapons are extremely rare. like you will find only 1 per playthrough if you are lucky...
NPC's are stupid and have unrealistic actions when facing a Zed, this is especially bad when guiding them!
-Fetch quests, really?........Escort Quests, REALLY.
-Irritating Clipping Issues during cutscenes as well as close combat.
-Arena is a great feature for farming kills, XP, Various rarities of weapons, and general experience of the game... BUT after a few matches You get easily bored of the Combat options and the enemy types.

http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=430986742
Final Thoughts:
Story YES (long and fresh, just like those Bananas I bought Yesterday)
Combat System- YES (Except after long Periods of time in the Arena or Grinding kills for a mission) The freedom of just killing zombies and Bandits in your way is execellent... Because Yes, It is Sparta!
Graphics NO (Glossy/ shiny as F*ck, This is a Game! not a new Make-up product!)
Bonus Content YES (Ryder-White Campaign Gives you much more info to the Story, As it is a Prequel. Bloodbath Arena is an efficient way of Gaining Kills, Weapons and Experience inbetween you story/coop playthroughs
Level/Map Design NO (Boring, Repetitive, slow but NOT linear by any margin)
The majority of the maps concepts are impressive, but the way that you see them is not very interesting, Metaphorically speaking, its like making a Skyscraper out of bacon xD
Because Many parts are repeated but at the same time it adds continuation and at least it doesnt pull you out of that certain environment. (like the view atop the Lighthouse] Its difficult to Give an Even opinion on this one this paying attention to the map/ natural features isnt a priority for many.
Best advice, go experience the layout of the map(s) for yourself! so if the placement of a specific hut in the jungle or the length of the...(Dare I say) Sewer Segments.

Overall I give this Open-world Zombie-Slasher an 8/10
Innovative for the time, zombie game devs could take some lessons from here, but also learn from its mistakes! I tried to give out as much balanced and simple (Hopefully) Relatable info as i could in One sitting.
Leave any comments below with any questions as usual- and check out my Review for the sequel to this game DI:Riptide...
Goodbye...and thanks Techland for putting exploding zombies within tight hallways and behind corners along with drawn out Sewer sections in basically every single game you develop..

puzzles)
☐ Average
☐ Underwhelming

Graphics:
☐ My eyes have been blessed
☐ Beautiful
☐ Decent
☑ Irrelevant to the overall quality (Great for the time of release though)

Music/ Sound:
☑ Your Ears will thank you (The sound design in this game is just,
AMAZING. The sound effects and voice acting is just superb. Couldnt ask for much more.
☐ Impressive
☐ Average
☐ Bad
☐ Better to just put on music.

PC Required:
☑ A potato will suffice (Perks of an older game)

☐ Minimal
☑ Some pacing issues but otherwise solid. (More about the story below)
☐ Better than I expected
☐ Sucks you into the world!

Difficulty:
☐ Game Journalist friendly
☑ A fair challenge (The game is about 20% fleeing from monsters and 80% solving environmental puzzles in order to progress.)
☐ Difficult
☐ Hulk smash setup

Replayability:
☑ One and done (There are technically 3 different endings but only 2 of them
are worth seeing. Thankfully, you don't have to play the entire game again as you
can just continue the last checkpoint from the main menu once you
beat the game. This is in order to see the other endings if you so
choose.
☐ Justifies a replay for any missing content/ collectibles
☐ Multiple playthroughs won't hurt

Pricing:
☐ It's free, woohoo!

Bugs:
☐ Polished gem
☑ Minor bugs (I have fallen out of the map once and also the Monster AI is often questionable at best)
☐ Bugs hinder experience
☐ Broken experience. It's like trying to enjoy a sunny sail while your
boat is full of holes.

Overall Rating: 8/10

Definitely one of the best horror games ever made. An amazingly daunting and gloomy atmosphere accompanied by superb sound design and the dark and gritty tones of its writing combine to create a very immersive experience.
The only real negatives that come to mind are the slow story pacing, bad enemy AI, extremely dark rooms that will drain surely more lantern Oil than you want and
some monster spawns are just plain unfair and can hardly be avoided
without guides or waiting a loong time.

Its definitely worth mentioning that the game is very dark, not just the
themes, but the lack of lighting!
Without your trusty Lantern, you will progress far slower throughout
the levels. I'm not sure if this was intended, but my gameplay pace
being interrupted by an inability to see more than a foot in front of me
is something I deeply hated during the game. It made a few sections
drag on for much longer than I felt necessary.
That all being said, if you like horror themes, puzzles that actually make you use your puny brain, gothic castles, phenomenal voice acting, and horrific torture devices, this is the game for you!

If you didn't choose the good ending first try, then I dont want to be your friend!
