I have to be honest, when I first played BG3 I didn't care for it. Boy was I wrong. This is one of the best RPGs I have ever played.
When playing this type of game you want to be enveloped in the world around you. Meaning that 1) the world has to feel immersive 2) the story has to make you think and make you feel and 3) the characters both allies and adversaries alike must be memorable.
-The World
The parts of Faerun you get to see in BG3 are beautifully done. Anyone who knows the world will love exploring areas they may not have in other titles or maybe only read about. The city of Baldur's Gate in this game has to be the best representation of it to date. The devs did an amazing job of bringing this beloved world to life. If you are not familiar with Faerun and this is your first dive into the series, have no fear as you will still feel amazed by what you see in the world. Keep in mind the world of Faerun is huge and these games only take you through a very small portion of it even though they seem to be huge themselves.
-The Story-
***This section is going to be vague as to not give away any of the story.
My first play through I felt Act 1 moved slow, but on the second and third play through I thoroughly enjoyed Act 1 almost to the point where it may be my favorite. It is building you up to what awaits you in A2 and A3. Act 2 can feel like grind at first but this is where things start to come together and you get the full grasp of what is going on. There are also major companion stories that will enthrall you here. Act 3 is where it all finally comes together and you realize the choices you have made start to encompass the world around you. This is not to say the choices you make here in A3 have any less of an affect. The way they did the story makes it so choices you make change the story drastically. This gives you the opportunity for multiple play throughs.
-The Characters-
The characters in this game may very well be the best part. They are so well written that you may start to love or hate them more than people in reality. You can have a beautiful bond with your companions that creates trust and sometimes love that will make the story even richer than it already is. You can help them make decisions that will inevitably change the course of their lives and even yours. They can support and trust you like companions in no other game ever have. Keep in mind I keep saying "can" or "may" because they also may not depending on how you choose to treat them or the decisions you make. On the flip side your foes in this game make you legitimately angry at times. The things they are doing to the world and to people you do and do not know drive you to want to see their ultimate demise. The last time I felt this sort of hatred towards an enemy in a game was in the original FFVII when Sephiroth killed my girl! (Sorry for that 30 year old spoiler)
-Gameplay-
I think the gameplay is what loses most people with BG3. Some people may not like the strategic turn based battle system or the somewhat forced overhead view in some situations. But honestly, in this type of game I do believe the actual gameplay should take a back seat to the rest even though this is hard for some to get passed. This is a game style preference and is one some people may not be able to overcome. I just urge you to try, especially if you like RPG's, because the RPG aspect of this game will far outweigh your dislike for this type of game. I myself have grown fond of this classic RPG style of gameplay and I hope it sticks around for years to come.
-Final Thoughts-
There are not many games I will gush this disgustingly about, but this is work of art, not just a game. This dev team cares so much about games and the gaming industry. They have openly made their feelings about the current state of the gaming industry clear and I for one think they are a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale industry.

World - 9.5
Story - 9.5

Many thanks dear Jester, I'm quite positive that you will like it (I think..).
It has good reviews & they even got the original actor to voice RoboCop!
