Hey hey people. Time to sort out your issues by mainlining heroine into your sack, putting on a balaclava and airing out an entire low income neighborhood.

Early Access Review
For an early access title, the system in place is already incredibly fun if you like Roguelike 2d Extraction Shooters. Nothing quite like it. It's even got a system in place to help you get right back into the fight if you royally messed up and lost your person. Insurance. You get given the poor person kit every time ya' die. Two handguns and a knife with a basic vest and boots, balaclava and some jeans with a cheap backpack.

So, don't worry about " What if I end up with no gear? " - it's nearly impossible to just end up with nothing.

For what it is, this game is fun. Max Payne 1 and 2 really had nothing like it back when they came out, obviously- but to me, this game is still fun and there's enough interesting set pieces to feel good. Max naturally doesn't want to lose the life he has sort of rebuilt for himself, so the motivations make sense. It feels less forced than a lot of late sequels do. Considering Max Payne 2 was a pretty open and shut case that left you thinking he was gonna either get sucked into the crime world himself, or fall out of his vigilante anti-hero work and likely die of alcohol and drug abuse... it's nice. It's nice to see Max again.

I know people were overly critical of it long ago, but that was also the age of everybody trying to emulate their favorite armchair critics and the internet rapidly turning people into some of the most narcissistic and yet insecure sorts ever. Some of the criticisms levied against the game were valid. Others were just " I didn't play 1 and 2. I don't like 3. "

To me, this is a more enjoyable ( Gameplay-wise and universe-wise ) version of X-Com.

We won the battle against Sony, but not the war. Get in there!

Does it have bugs? Yeah, sometimes. Natural when they keep repeatedly updating the game with new content like the recent entirely new map and tweaks to firearms and melee weapons. Psyker powers too have been buffed and it's just amazing to play as... pretty much any fantasy. Big beef cake tank? Ogryn. The shotcaller sniper or suppressor? Veteran. Tide turning holy warrior? Zealot. The brain busting or infantry wiping space wizard? Psyker. They have roles that you can then specialize for, or be a generalized master of none, or a specialized master for stealth, sniping, auto-las, so on.

Highly recommend the game. Yes there's the whole " But muh super cool cosmetics are locked behind a paywall. " .. Yeah, but the more important part isn't. Y'know. Gameplay. Considering most games outright bar your game play these days? I'm willing to pay ten bucks for a pretty helmet if that matter so much to me. I'm not above supporting a game that's given me hours and hours of fun because live service games like this are costly and anybody that's in the know about these things would be aware. Just like how Vermintide 2 had all these issues at the start, expect it to be ironed out in - honestly maybe a year or less given the progression has been rapid when compared to Vermintide.

Give it a try if you haven't. It is about as close as you can feel to being a boots on the ground guardsman afforded slightly better than average armor and Inquisitorial backing. It's that fantasy of being part of an Inquisitor's retinue rather than being the Mary Sue inquisitor.

Honestly? In depth combat that takes using your head, not your numbers. You can take a fight that should be a crushing defeat and through real world tactics from the times depicted in the game, you turn the battles around. It's great. Really recommend if you like strategy games, or pretending you're the general of an old empire.

One of those old fashioned RPGs that may not be pretty, but it's still incredibly fun.

People talk so bad about this game, but have forgotten what Dawn of War II was when it launched and what Dawn of War I was when it launched. There were plans to make add-ons for this game just like they did with Dawn of War II to add races and campaigns that would have more choice / content within, but this was supposed to tide us over until then. Now? Now it's dead. It's sad how jaded we've all become. We used to just love Warhammer and now it's " DO BETTER OR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ KILL YOURSELF GAMES WORKSHOP!!! " - I was a bit disappointed too until I recalled how DoW II was at launch. Only game that had a few more races at launch was DoW I and that was because no expectations were on them to deliver it swiftly. DoW II was rushed to update graphics and ship it out with a quick campaign while learning how to work with a slightly newer system. Same thing happened with DoW III but nobody wants to talk about that. Just about how they're entitled to everything they want now.
