Do you like fighting games? Do you enjoy solid rollback netcode? How about if I told you it also has cross-platform play? While the game might be lacking in visuals, it more than makes up for it by setting a new standard for the industry in terms of online play. Give the game a shot and most importantly, support the evolution of fighting games.

Do note that special inputs in this game are simplified, no quarter-circles or half-circles here. Most are done by one singular direction and a button. The exceptions being Ryu and Chun-Li who retain their legacy inputs. That's *not* to say however that combos can't be complicated. Combos that are long enough to kill a full HP character do exist and can be difficult to accomplish. Still, the game is a perfect way to get into the genre if you are willing to invest some time.

A free game, so who could say no? Let's just say this is a very "unpolished game". Your graphics card will question what in the heck you're doing while a slideshow of metallic gibs go flying everywhere. This is a game where you fight merciless evil roombas out to kill you. It's a fun time killer, but despite all the joy you'll get out of it you'll likely also be equally confused by many of the design decision. Truth be told, fighting enemies that barely raise above the ground can be rather difficult, and having movement options that will resonate with Titanfall and Apex players is fun but chaotic to control. Not to mention the *very* repetitive and poorly laid out room designs.

If you like what you see, I'd point you towards the more polished Roboquest, (Even if it is still an Early Access title) But if you just want some free fun, I can definitely give this a recommendation.

Take the Borderlands cartoon oriented art style and RPG elements, and mix it with DOOM gameplay inside of a rogue-lite. Very VERY good so far and a lot of fun. A solid FPS game that you can pick up and play whenever. Give these devs some support if you're willing to put up with some work in progress content.

Did I forget to mention goomba stomping and grind rails? Yeah, those are a thing in this game!

(Noticeable things so far: sky box in hub world doesn't expand far enough, game crash -only 1 within 3 hours so far, art pieces that are WIP, textures below ultra look blurred, the shield overlay on highest texture settings seems to tank FPS on my machine.)

My personal pick for Game of the Year 2020 and I'm ashamed for sleeping on it. As everyone else will quickly point out, this is Mega Man Battle Network meets rogue-lite - and it is fantastic. Pick it up in the December Humble Bundle Choice if it interests you.

The worst part about the game? The pickup noise for items sounds like Spongebob Squarepants walking into the room.

Looking past that, I'd argue that this is the best ARPG that I've played. Coming straight off a Titan Quest playthrough, you can tell that some of the original developers worked on this.

As a successor of sorts to Titan Quest, you can easily summarize that it takes it a step further. Granted, I'm sure plenty of folks will have preferences in terms of style.

Versus Path of Exile? This game has the advantage of not being built upon a freemium model with a need for constant online. -That's already a huge plus in my book. Looking deeper though, personally I think the design, story, and sometimes straight forward mechanics make it leaps and bounds a more enjoyable experience for me.

So does it topple Diablo 2? Well it certainly has modern day conveniences on its side. it is difficult to compare however with nostalgia. I'm not sure anything can really capture that same magic and level of polish.

What makes this game so unique to me is that you get *choices*, I'm immediately pulled into the story (even if the voice acting can be a mixed bag), and you see the world progress along with you. That's fantastic design and something I don't think any of the others in its vein even get close to doing.

The game is a lot like the mobile game, dangerously so.

The start is VERY slow and doesn't give the player a chance to really play around for quite some time, to a frustrating degree. However, it does get better once the bulk of the story has been laid out.

The story isn't groundbreaking but it does have some very humorous scenes. Some I even laughed out loud over. However for me it does feel weird coming from the anime / game as certain elements *appear* to have been forgotten by the cast? Not sure where this is supposed to fit into the "timeline" or if I'm supposed to treat all these entities as separate entries. When it gets serious it looses me, as the stakes are never really established and there really isn't any kind of message that the story seems to be after besides, well, working together and perhaps overcoming nerves. To its credit, EVERYTHING in this game is voice acted by the original actors, and many of the VAs are Japanese veterans.

The gameplay itself is incredibly straight forward. You form a fleet and control one of the three "vanguard" boats that enter combat, being able to swap between them in battle as you wish. (Not to be confused with the mobile game's system that limits the vanguard to Destroyers and Cruisers. All "playable" ships are of a variety of classes.) Most of the combat is circling around trying to avoid bullets to a limited degree while spamming attacks. Similar to boss fights in the mobile game, this is a bullet hell where getting hit is something that just happens. The ultimate goal is to *survive*. You do have some evasive moves however, with most being equipped with a quick dash that has I-frames (invulnerability for a few seconds) or a guard that can reduce damage or completely negate it, if timed properly.

If anything the challenge and real meat of this game is similar to the mobile game. It isn't focused on how well you play (but it does help), but rather how well prepared you are. If you pick a good fleet and raise their gear you'll have an easier time.

No gacha here to try your luck at, instead boats are earned by progressing far enough in the story and then using the points you've gained from battles to fully acquire them. Some have arbitrarily higher costs than others. Z23 fans should note you'll be waiting awhile to get your hands on her. Unlock info is as follows, HOVER OVER FOR SPOILERS: Progression of playable boats is Sakura Empire -> Royal Navy -> Eagle Union -> Iron Blood with a few holdouts.

The selection of "playable" boats isn't very large, however you do get support boats featuring another pool of the cast that can help buff your team during combat. (Max of 3 in a fleet) Playable boats can fill the support role if you desire for increased formation layouts. They've tried to pick most of the fan favorites with the entire roster but with how big the mobile game cast is, a lot of characters understandably had to be cut. If you really desire a certain ship then I encourage you to look up the full character roster before diving in to set your expectations in that regard.

Graphics wise the game looks okay. Nothing worth writing much about. In terms of performance, the game seems to suffer from throwing far too much crap at once in very specific fights. Normally it runs at a smooth 60 FPS, but it does start to feature some "odd" slowdowns usually in battles with three enemy ships. I say odd because the framerate will stay at about a solid ~40 with the game itself slowing down. Not sure if my rig has anything to do with this. In the options menu you'll only have the ability to adjust resolution and windowed options for performance. You can also alter the game's difficulty, vibration, cut-ins, and camera sensitivity.

Overall score? 3/5
A story with funny moments and a new light to see a small portion of the cast in action. Enjoyable for fans needing to shake things up a bit but unfortunately it doesn't have gripping enough gameplay to be worth the price tag for anyone not already a fan of the series. -Just go play the mobile game. OWARI DA!

Runs great, works great, I really don't have any issues at all. If you like Halo, well HERE IT IS.

The crouching thing people are reporting is an intended feature. I've never played Reach but that seems to be the case from my research, and it makes sense. I understand why it might be a bother though to those not used to it.

Mouse movement is also a bit odd at first but works perfectly fine.

A bit expensive in comparison to the previous character DLCs, but the 2.0 changes are a very nice addition that makes up for it. Buy this if you have an interest in the new characters / story and want to support the developers, otherwise wait for a sale if you already own the base game and aren't hyped. For anyone checking out the DLCs and figuring out what to buy if you haven't jumped into the game yet, 100% get the deluxe edition that has everything included if possible.

Did I mention this adds best girl and best girl? (Celica and Neo)

So far out of TFT and Underlords, I'm definitely favoring Underlords right now. The game feels a lot more polished with having a tutorial and being able to play bots at your own pace. Honestly this is the best way to get into the auto-chess genre right now. Keep your eyes on it!
