This game is essentially just Dragon's Dogma 1: 2. I enjoyed my time playing it, but if you are just looking for a new game to play and not specifically looking for DD, stay away.

The story (or lack of) is just terrible and nonsensical, it seems like it has a good start, then NPC's that you meet just disappear from the story and can just appear later and barely act like they know you, or new story NPC's will act as if you are best friends right when you meet. And then the story seems to just end rather abruptly. Although, the unmoored world is probably my favorite things in the game. I love when games seem like they are going to end but end up switching to a whole new thing. If it was more fleshed out and actually drastically changed the world instead of just adding dried up seabeds, the game would probably be in my top 5 of all time even with all the issues.

The combat itself is pretty satisfying but not really anything groundbreaking, mostly just slam your attacks into the enemy and hope your pawns use the correct buffs to allow you to damage the enemy if they are resistant to physical. The new classes are pretty good and although i didn't really play warrior in DD 1 it feels good in this game now. The enemy variety is the largest issue, you are basically just fighting the same enemies that were found in the first game for the entire game, with only a few new big monsters even added.

If this was some brand new IP from some new company, it would be an awesome accomplishment from them, but this is literally Capcom and they should be able to actually develop a complete game that meets the standards of a AAA game.

They fixed the issues I was personally having with the quick patch (not sure about all the issues but they say they are working on 'em). And now that I've gotten to more of the game, it's fantastic so far.

If you like Persona and/or Fire Emblem games, this is a game for you. It's basically Fire Emblem style combat mixed with Persona story aspects like free time and building relationships with characters. On top of this, if you aren't interested in certain aspects of the game, there are three different ways to experience it: full experience, play through everything the game has to offer. Story mode, only read through the story without having to do the battles. And battle mode, only play the battles without reading the story.

As for the combat I think Nilspace does a great job of adding on to the traditional Fire Emblem style with things called modules. These basically allow you to choose what class you want your characters to be, if you don't like a character as the class they are, you can equip a different module and it will change their class.

Best gaming experience I've ever had.
