Early Access Review
After seeing it played on various places, and how much fun and funny it was, I just had to pick it up.

Unfortunately for me, having an Ultrawide monitor just doesn't work well with the UI(literally got stuck in the Prologue for the Police Body Search Tutorial cause I couldn't click out of the first window) and the resolution never seems to change when trying to switch.

Having to refund it and just wait for it to one day get an update for better support, then I may pick it back up.

Besides that, looks hella fun and keep hearing great things about it.

This game was one of the best purchases of the year for me personally on games.

Outright really fun, and even better with friends playing in a squad with you. The missions(and game as a whole) getting more variety and updates over time has been fantastic(though, a number of the updates over the year have been nerfs, but a lot of those were reverted or changed to buffs later).

The issue is, that it's still banned in like 170 countries from Sony trying to push the necessity of having a PSN account to play it from months ago(which was dropped) and that still hasn't been resolved as of yet.

Hopefully it'll get resolved and even brought to other platforms, allowing even more players to enjoy and have fun with it.

I do love Bethesda games, like many, and am recommending Starfield... BUT only when on sale after a few years of release or on a good discount to you.

Because by then, the price will have dropped enough and most bugs and other issues being worked out to having no impact on most users. As well as having even more mods to play around with(even though the current modding environment isn't great, I believe it will change once official tools are released). Or at least be cheap enough that any problems run into won't impact the cheap price for how much game you are getting.

I've barely put the time needed to do everything in the game as of writing this. I know plenty of people could of rushed through the game 4 of 5 times with the amount of time I've put into it(which I heard a number of reviewers recommend doing, and unfortunately many seemed to do rather than just enjoy the first playthrough), but that just seems so against what BSG's are about. Exploring, meeting characters, quests, and other discoveries along the way to build up the player.

Not saying it's all good, as it's not. Having to pretty much load something and then load another area and so on constantly is very tiring and pretty much requires you to have it on an NVME drive just to speed through those with as little issue as possible. All that loading also seems to make the Universe and worlds so much smaller than previous BSG titles.

Not being able to loot all the items off bodies, think it's like a 5% chance to loot any armor piece off an NPC after they're dead, not the best feeling... But also kind of makes sense with how limited you are on the carrying capacity. Which is a big one, the capacity to hold onto things on you and your ships are limited(can always increase them to a good amount, but at the beginning, it's rough). That leads into another point, how it's a very slow to grow game when compared to others from BSG, almost like character growth is limited so you take the game slower(maybe?).

Still, the improvements are there in a number of ways too. With the gunplay and fights, it feels so much better and tighter than you'd think from the developers with how Skyrim's magic system is. Faces and facial expressions look so much better in this than I would of thought possible on this engine. As well as so many voiced lines of dialogue, that's it's kind of crazy how many hours it goes on for if played constantly.

At this point, no idea what the DLC will be like, but can hope it'll be great and maybe turn around most people's experience with the game like how Cyberpunk 2077's updates and DLC has done for it.

Honestly, this is often how gaming is these days, "It's an ok game at release, could be a great game once it's actually finished with updates." Maybe more games just need to stay in development more, or go into an Early Access phase for a great deal of time instead of "RELEASED"/"GONE GOLD". Even then, it really depends on the companies to listen to their playerbase and make the changes that will improve the product.

To sum it up, don't buy it now. Just wait a few years when it's cheap and enjoy it with all the updates and mods that'll have been made ready with little to no bugs by then.

A game that held some good potential, but ultimately became trash(probably due to time constraints to be pushed out ASAP).

At it's best, it's an ok looter shooter. But Borderlands game still outpace it in every way, and they're less costly as well.

Maybe the bugs and issues will be fixed one day, but until then... I can't even say that this game is worth it at 50%-75% off(not to mention the lack of content and refinement).

Zombie killing at one of it's best.

Much like the original with more fun and exciting weapons and gadgets.

Full recommendation to pick up and throw some hours into, especially with some friends in coop.

A fun and expanded rougelike from the original.

This game has tons of replayability as you unlock more modifiers, characters, and power ups as you unlock achievements and complete challenges.

If you see it on sale, it's worth it to grab the game and play for hours upon hours.

Awesome artist styling, and just the perfect Metroidvania out there. Great for the winter months staying inside to discover every secret and item. A truly fun game to run through a few times.

Just a lot of fun to play around with and customize your own avatars.

The reaction of someone seeing you as such when you first load up a video call is awesome.

Pricing is pretty good, even with a bunch of stuff as addons.

Definitely worth checking out.

I looked so forward to this game, watching trailers and others play it before I could get my hands on it, just built the excitement but the flaws were very there as well.

Adding the Creation Club seems to have pissed a lot of people off, but I'm not too miffed by it, being they're supported content and the artists are paid(albiet not as much of a fair share most likely). Plus, it's content you don't need(however putting Skyrim's Hardcore gamemode behind it is a pretty horrible move, but something I probably will never play), just adds to the already robust game.

Having the game dumbed down for the general public isn't a bad thing, it's still a fun game, but yes a few of the tratics of older Fallouts are gone... But in place are others, which do add something. However, there is a fair amount of micro-managing when get a bunch of settlements which can be boring going to defend one after another.

Exploring has always been my favorite thing about a Bethesda game, checking out the open world that has been created and seeing what it out there. Maybe discovering some hidden secrets, like the many bears hidden around points of interest.

Combat has a good and precise feel to it, especially when getting that sneak attack bonus. With the amount of different weapons you'll come across later on, there will be plenty of options to dispatch foes and try some new tactics(especially since you can keep leveling to max out all abilities).

Overall, it's still a fun game that'll keep you busy for hours, even if you're just going for the main story. I would recommend it to a friend, but most have it already. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
