Early Access Review
The best parts of STALKER, Tarkov, and Zomboid with the punishing joy of Enter the Gungeon.

I have nearly 300 hours in this game and feel like I've only experienced a part of it. And in reality I have, since it has so much content and stuff to explore.
It's rage inducing, it's a good time, you'll hate every second, and you'll love going back for more.
GOTY all years.

Early Access Review
Two weeks ago the game didn't exist, and today I'm nearly 40 hours into playing it. It's Early Access, but multiple updates per week, constant dev communication and clear development goals have my full and complete attention. Pausing bot games and coming back to them is great, but being able to jump from PC to mobile mid game is amazing. Can't wait wait for voicelines, lore and everything else to elevate the player experience.

From a MtG background this game is great. There are UI issues that, knowing Valve, will be addressed ad-hoc as the game evolves (e.g. the tutorial doesn't really say where debuffs on heroes/creeps are, and the UI doesn't really do a good job of showing positive/negative debuffs).
Lore is heavy from DOTA, and it feels it. Not just blocks of text, but amazingly well acted voice lines in what feels like everything.
Deck designing is fun and evolves the more you see of the game and realize there isn't one 'right way' to play.
Worth the price alone even if you don't plan on buying any more cards and want to stick to free/bot modes. That said, the fact it's market enabled is going to make this game last.

Can't skip music tracks. Ultrawide support exists, but throws in two black bars for no reason. Physics is a joke. Can't skip music tracks. Songs that were tied to tracks in the original THPS aren't automatically played when you load in. Can't skip music tracks.

Nostalgia is fun and all but all this game has convinced me to do is dust off my old systems.

Honestly one of my favorite games of the past few years. The visuals are nice, if a bit "dated", the story is as amazing as the time you want to give it, and the gameplay is smooth and fun and frustrating all at the same time. There will be plenty of comparisons to Portal in both gameplay and story, but that's just a way to get you to play the game. It stands on its own, independent of those comparisons (or easter eggs).
If you enjoy first person puzzlers, and a meditation of what conciousness is, get this game. Or if you just like robots. Or if you enjoy what Croteam does, aside from the shooty-bits of their games.

Fun enough, but the ammount of bugs this far after release on PC is crazy. And the KB/Mouse controls are non-intuitive to start with and not super responsive after you configure them to make sense to how you play.

I realize that not playing 2 I can't speak too much of the story but it feels like an attempt to clone Far Cry that failed, with a main character that is great from the start. Which would be fine, but the combat just makes me want to play Far Cry 3 with some of JC3's gimmicks brought over, but most removed. I realize the gimmicks are fun enough in a sandbox but requiring them to complete missions is just obnoxious.

Again, it's fun enough, but pick it up when it's super cheap and occupy yourself with Far Cry 3 (or 4) in the interim.

To be clear: I have never played more than 4 hours in any other single GTA game (or Saints Row game). They never hooked me, coming off as giant sandboxes with nothing to do that was interesting aside from blowing things up.
GTA V is easily on my top 25 games of all time list. It's everything all the previous GTA and SR games lacked for me: plot, perspective and scope. If you enjoy heist movies at all, this is the game for you.
- By having three main characters, it feels like you're observing this grand plot rather than being the silent protagonist that most games put you in the role of, which is part of the reason I disliked previous GTA games. It also allows for great variations in side quests and how you view the main quest.
- The size of the game is amazing. Not just in map size, but in how it spans the areas of the map and the plot points between them.
- Again, if you like heist movies, books or anything else, this delivers on all points. The setup, the execution, the over-the-top scenarios.

This is without even mentioning that the first person perspective makes it so much easier for folks who enjoy FPS's to play the game (at least the shooty parts), the ability to mod it, how freaking beautiful it looks maxed out, the fact the VORPX mod makes it feel amazing in VR, etc.

Just buy the game already.

It's a thumbs down, not because it isn't pretty, or well put together, it's for the p2w aspects of what is essentially a 'how big of a number can you imagine' simulator.
Cookie Clicker and Clicking Bad do it better, and for free without p2w addictive personality traps. And those have more features.

Not bothering going into the 'It's Diablo, but with Mavel!' since everyone else can. Overall, it's a fun time
Pro's:
-It has Unusuals
-It's fun and engaging
-Voice cast is great
-A lot of content

Con's:
-No hats
-Havent taken any of the great features from Torchlight or Diablo (pets can sell stuff, good visual item compare, etc)
-Pay-2-win in some ways (there's this currency that drops in game every 10 minutes or so that you can use to buy characters, costumes, and these crates that contain super buffed weapons - you can buy crates (cards) that drop the currency so you can buy the crates, and basically never worry about fighting anything)
-Horrible grind in other ways (that 10 minutes to get 1 eternity spike when everything costs 40+ spikes is ughhh)
-In-game things aren't explained well (Crafters - why should I give the crafter my items? What do the recipes mean? How much are the items worth to the crafter if I donate them? etc)
-MMO rather than single player with co-op (It's a con for me because I hate people)
-Can't be Agent-X
