Knife Sisters was a fantastic journey, though it somehow managed to fry my brain after playing 3 hours straight. This game intimately understands how to portray trans and non-binary people in a fairly ideal setting. Pushing all the dark themes and trauma aside for a moment: This game imagines a world that has mostly moved beyond modern quibbles about gender presentation.

Otherwise, the game has had me questioning and doubting myself. Half remembering details, feeling deep confliction, truly not knowing how deep I've swim until it's too late. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all the good stuff I had up for... Reasons. I both envy and pity Leo.

And I love every second of it. Knife Sisters 2 when? Please? I will beg...

Ignore the playtime, I've really only played the first 30-40 minutes. Absolutely worth it even without a discount. Sseth's spotlight made me realize I own this already and I'm happy he did, because this is fun.

For the new players: 1. Set map level to LEADER; 2. Plan to do both character creation and 15 minutes of gameplay in your first session; 3. You can SAVE on the world map; 4. HOLD F1 in game for more info.

I would love workshop integration.

A quick, fun game that doesn't wear out its welcome. The pixel art is adorable and much of the CG art is nice. Only issue is that mechanics of the combat are not clear, so it can be difficult to determine how well you're doing, but you do get a general sense of how everything works well enough to get by.

For $1-2, well worth it.

Without KC's mod (the new update series), I'd have a tiny bit of trouble recommending it. It's a fun game with a great theme, and it makes sense to ramp up the gameplay over time, introducing new mechanics along the way. The last area drags a bit, but it mechanically the most diverse which has advantages.

However, if you choose to opt into KC's mod - which you should, this is absolutely worth the money. I'm glad the dev listened to what the community wanted and began to implement it over time. That said, it really should have been in the game at the start with a $20 price tag. Without KC's, I'd have preferred to spend $10 or even $15. The mod isn't quite there yet (0.25 atm) - and it has pacing issues to work out, but it's a good step.

So if you l deckbuilders with some new mechanics, here you go.

Staggeringly unpolished. The art is fantastic, but not worth slogging through the "gameplay". Refunding.

Early Access Review
I've used this app to create three characters so far, and generally found it to be an easygoing experience. Development seems to mostly be in maintenance mode with only a few updates (last one in late October 2019). Developer is active within the discussion forum and seems to respond to problems quite quickly.

Pros:
+ One of the few pieces of software to actually do this # The dev could link up with other artists to implement their bases + Price is fair, when considering number of features compared to a base + Easy to transfer projects to other users (.ini files) + Actually able to use this for commercial projects! (Not for me, but still nice) + Possible to implement custom assets, but...

Cons:
- No Workshop support for user-generated assets - Limited to one asset per layer - Can have different left/right eyes, but only certain features - Some assets, such as the mouth veil, could totally go with other "masks" - A few assets - notably mouths - are low fairly quality - The UI is VERY cumbersome. - Auto-exported only as .bmp - No easy link to the image & file directory - Resolution hides bottom ~15% of images, requiring saving to see most clothes

Overall, I feel like my purchase was worth it. I know I'll probably keep using it to finalize my character ideas and get that first image out. If I decide to take it further, this will serve as a basis for a commissioned artist. $20 is pretty steep for what I use it for, but with few other options, I'll take it.

That said, I would really hope that the dev implements Workshop support. Put up a few of the current assets as a tutorial, create a small handful of assets unique to the Workshop as a new update, and/or commission someone to add a few new features! My fingers are crossed...

Very short, but a cute little romp. Price is a little steep for the content, but I'd recommend it if you can pick it up on discount.

Dragonfall is miles ahead of the first game in the series. The addition of cyberweapons adds a little bit of spice to the combat and the story is well written and deep. There isn't very much replay value and the game isn't very well supported on the workshop. That said, Dragonfall is the strongest of the three games in terms of workshop content. Totally worth every dollar.

Shadowrun Returns, while lacking in the polish and writing departments, is very easy to recommend. It's dark, gritty, and (most importantly) fun to dive into. It doesn't live up to the two games that follow it, unfortunately, but certainly worth it as part of a bundle or a sale.

I have fully enjoyed my time playing this game thus far and, for a sound investment of $0, it's one of my cheaper experiences. The combat flows extraordinarily well and is pretty easy to understand.

However, this game does come with some notable flaws: Card draw and deck size. There are a few cantrips scattered throughout what I've seen so far, some even going so far as to allow you to take another action after drawing the card. These lack of cantrips can seriously drag a game on or even completly screw an attempt over. You can continue to draw only movement cards, or armor cards, or block cards. This gets highly frustrating, especially when it happens two, three, or even four rounds in a row. Being able to opt into slimming your deck size down might help this a little bit. Perhaps this is handled later on down the line and I just haven't gotten to it.

On the other hand, it does have some great mechanics. Your choice of cards (or, rather, items which have cards attached to them) plays out as a big "Risk vs. Reward" when comparing cards from a single tier. Do you want an armor that has three "Armor 1. Keep."s, or one that has one "Armor 1. Keep.", one "Armor 2. Roll 4+", and one "Armor 2. Keep. Roll 4+"? Further, the usage of monster groups that use a card pool is a very clever idea that I for one would never have considered; it helps to balance out combat between 3 player characters and many more enemies without bogging down combat by making groups move at once.

Overall, it's an awesome game. Highly recommend it.
