I bought it for the aesthetic, I wouldn't buy it for the story - It's a whole lot of "go to place" fetch missions that blend together.
In a way, it's a (psychotic) love letter to both the top down GTA games and the pop culture of the time when the NES reigned superior. Anything is fair game. Bill & Ted, the Ninja Turtles, Mario, BTTF, the A-Team, et cetera. Though honestly sometimes the references get too old quick 'cause it'll hit you with them rapid fire.

In terms of the gameplay loop it really leans heavily into the "rampage the pedestrians" aspect of the classic GTA games.

Steam Workshop: The Game
Even if you aren't that creative you can just download a bunch of mods and go hog wild exploring vast maps or intricately designed singleplayer experiences

An acquired taste. Really, this game is a hell of an acquired taste. It's an artsy rail shooter, and you shouldn't expect it to make a lot of sense.

But still, I do suppose it grew on me. Just keep in mind I don't expect this game's for everyone.

A very beautiful game with a plethora of content & scenarios to be explored.
There's a lot of Americana and long highway action. It's a period piece - big fan of those. Based on certain comments I'd place it at atleast 1979.
It's what the kids would call "woke" but to its' credit it is set in a time period that has a lot of these sorts of issues to tackle. Though a rare few dialogues feel pretty on the nose.

This game feels like a concept that hasn't been tried a lot. I also like it a lot for its' CYOA-esque features that give you a list of character backstory beats to choose from and build the ultimate renegade.

It's awesome if you're into this sorta thing. And it's grander than Dead Rising 1 in most ways, from plot and setpiece-y missions to a better array of good weapons to use against the zombies and just... more overall.

People got their opinions but gameplay wise this is pretty much a straight upgrade from 1.
Plus you're stranded in Little Las Vegas and you can gamble your savings away if you so like. With enough grinding you can buy car keys and really start mowing down zombies by driving up and down the strip.

Gotta be one of my top games, and for good reason.
Max Payne 3 scratches that action hero itch that no other game's been able to match. Probably got my favorite gunplay in a game, ever.

It's got very little connection to Max Payne 1 and 2, though it feels a bit like an epilogue to those games. Max's final chance to make things right and boy does he ever.

I get that the whole thing is one big inside joke and a take on crappy ripoffs, but because I spent my money on this I feel ripped off.
Being self-aware about how these are made deliberately bad doesn't make it any better.
You know those little games in the arcade they got in GTA Online? That's the sort of thing to expect here, but not in a good way.

I wasn't the biggest fan at first but when I came back a few years later it really grew on me. The whole time management thing is addicting.
I don't think there's a game quite like this outside the Dead Rising series - being up against the clock HARD prioritizing and balancing side objectives with the main story or even being given the choice to just completely blow off the main story and get a whole 'nother ending if you feel like it.

Didn't really need a $50 remaster with a coat of shiny graphics, take it or leave it QoL, and select censorship "for the modern audience".

Shorter than I thought but a blast nonetheless. I guess this does allow for each level to be more memorable and unique, running with a theme for each level. The real playtime is in the replayability.
I do see some bugs here and there and I don't like how they don't tell you the QTEs are done FOR you by default but nothing that made it less of a good game.

I used to see everybody and their mother talking about this back in the day.. It's good to finally try it out on PC.

Max Payne 2 is a nice story with some returning faces from the first game - and does a real good job on improving upon it.
Max Payne is a Rockstar IP now, but you can very clearly see the Remedy DNA in this game still.

(Having played only Max Payne 1 & 3 at first, this game inadvertently does a nice job of bridging the gap between the two. There's also a comic series that bridges Max Payne 2 and 3 nicely.)
