Really fun little FPS game. It has an endless mode for replayability, so for 6 USD you really can't go wrong. Heavily recommend.

Really good port of a really good game, for some reason certain graphical settings randomly tank the framerate at certain settings, so I have everything at low just for reliability's sake. I do have a few minor gripes though:

1. Apparently you can throw your axe? Supposedly all you have to do is let go of the grip button but that doesn't work for me, I'll occasionally drop it for seemingly no reason but that's about it.

2. It's very easy to accidentally set off the sword and ice....crystal...launcher...thing? You activate them by swinging your arm but the sensitivity for it is so low that just moving my wrist a small amount can set it off. Maybe require the player to hold the trigger or something to use it? (Note: An update has added a sensitivity slider for swinging these weapons and even added an option to allow firing them like a standard weapon)

3. Small performance issues and bugs. Like I said, certain settings tank the framerate sometimes, and other times I just get an unstable framerate for seemingly no reason. Honestly though some of that might be Air Link and the Oculus PC software being jank.

Apart from these minor (in the case of the throwing issue, not so minor) issues, the game is really good, and since I already owned the non-VR version, I got it for like 9 USD which is a steal. Highly recommend!

Haven't ever been a big fan of Roguelikes but this game might've just gotten me hooked on them. It's insanely fun and satisfying. Looping over and over to just become a crab menace with 8,000 health and a 10 million DPS weapon is some of the most fun I've had with a game in recent memory. Highly recommend, especially at the $10 USD price tag.

Chop Goblins is OBJECTIVELY the BEST video game.

The gameplay is absolutely FLAWLESS, the weapons are PERFECT, the enemies are FAIR and DASTARDLY, and the level design is FUN and UNIQUE.

The graphics are PERFECTION, everything is READABLE and INTUITIVE, the colors are BRIGHT and FUN.

The music gets old NEVER and PERFECTLY accompanies each ENGAGING scene. The voice acting is WITHOUT FLAW.

This game is MASTERPIECAL, this game is LITERALLY 1984.

The tagline "Thief with guns" really does Gloomwood injustice, because it is so much more. First I'd also like to touch on the gameplay itself, it wears it's inspirations on it's sleeve but it never feels like it's copying them, it's definitively it's own thing. The level design is really great, it's definitely more linear than some other immersive sims but still allows for plenty of player freedom. Want to be a rampaging monster the likes of Doomguy? Go ahead. Want to sneak past everything and everyone so they never even knew you were there? The game accommodates for that playstyle too. Want to be a mix of both and act as a deadly shadow slowly killing everyone and hiding the bodies? The choice is yours. I know that kind of player expression is expected in a game inspired by old-school immersive sims but it's still really appreciated. Something else that really stands out to me is the audio design. It turns the game from being mildly spooky to full-on horror in many places, which is enhanced by the also excellent art direction. As for criticism, really the only thing I can think of is that the fish dog enemies are a little confusing to avoid, at least for me. I think you're supposed to lure them around with gibs and food items but I just got frustrated and ended up shooting them. That frustration was more likely than not my fault though, after backtracking through the area I found a note explicitly stating that you can lure them with certain items so that was really on me. The game is also a little on the short side (it took me about 6 hours to get through the latest build on the standard difficulty), but it's in Early Access so that's not really a criticism.

Point is though, the game is absolutely fantastic, at full price it's worth it and on a discount it's a steal. Heavily recommend.

Edit: after my second run through the game I found the fish dog enemies much more manageable so that was just on me.

Didn't get any crashes like most people, but still had severe framerate and stuttering issues. You'd think since the game spent half an hour compiling shaders it'd be a stutter-free experience but apparently not. Don't recommend until it's fixed, probably going to refund.

From what I played, this mod seems great. I really don't have any complaints. I mean, I guess a toggle for texture filtering in the options would be appreciated. Some people prefer it, some people don't, having an easy toggle would be good for everyone. There's options in the menu for other visual features like view bob, fancy lighting effects, etc, so this seems like an obvious addition.

Overall though, this mod is really good, whenever I replay HL1 again I'll probably choose this over the original.
