As the self-proclaimed "Biggest Dead Space Fan", I was more than excited and hopeful for this game to be a new spiritual successor to my favourite franchise. I was not impressed.

SPOILERS FOLLOW:

PC launch stuttering issues aside, the game is visually gorgeous. Unfortunately, that does nothing to buffer the lack-luster story and absolutely atrocious gameplay loop of close quarters combat. The game feeds you underwhelming weapons throughout that do next to nothing, leaving you to rely mainly on your stun baton for melee combat. This would be bearable, if the game also did not throw 3+ enemies at you simultaneously which will quickly overwhelm and kill you should you miss a dodge. Speaking of enemies, there is like, 3 types of enemies in the game and then the Two Head mini boss.
♥♥♥♥ THIS DUDE.
You do not meet one of these until super late into the game, and then the devs decide to throw 5 at you within the last 2 hours of the game. Better yet, on anything higher than the lowest difficulty, these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ will one-shot you should you miss a dodge, AND they decide to throw standard enemies at you during the encounters as well, making it next to impossible to kill these on anything but Easy mode.
As if the combat wasn't annoying enough, swapping weapons is damn near impossible too. Each weapon is a subset of either your "standard" or "heavy" weapon frame. There is no hotswap for these, and trying to swap to one while dodging enemies is a challenge all its own as it needs to go through a whole animation which is interrupted every time you dodge, are hit, etc. And forget about it if the weapon you are swapping to needs to be reloaded. That's a whole other animation.
Moreover, the game lacks charm. Weapons don't change appearance when being upgraded, there is no armour to get, or any collectables even to find so very limited replay value outside of achievement hunting which I seriously can't justify due to how annoying this game is to play.
To summarise, I really, REALLY wanted to like this game. it was the game that i was waiting nearly 10 years for. But ultimately, all this game turned out to be was a chore to play. I would say wait for some updates to adjust some things or wait for a good sale, but even at that point the entire gameplay loop of the game is fundamentally flawed, which is disappointing coming from the devs that set the bar for survival horror with Dead Space all those years ago.

My recommendation? Save some money and go buy Dead Space 1, 2, and 3.

Been waiting to get my hands on this game for a while, and overall it was pretty good.
Think Visage, but with less tedium. (rest assured, there still is some lol)
Graphics look great, with minimal performance issues on my 3070. However, there is a lack of settings to adjust, including no way to disable motion blur, etc. Sound design was good, but the ambient footsteps and bangs that follow you around are CONSTANT. They get rather annoying after a while.
Story was okay. Confusing, but that could just be me.
Story is also rather dark so do keep that in mind. Could be triggering for some.

Score: 6.5/10

Overall, the game is good, but definitely not for the price.
Wait for a sale to pick this one up.

Reseña de acceso anticipado
Gunfire Reborn is a fantastic blend of FPS and Roguelite, bringing a much-needed breath of fresh air to the genre. Even though it is still early access, the game's controls and movement are incredibly tight and fluid, rivalling the feel of even AAA titles. The game is a steal for the price, and being early access means there is only more content to come.

Pros:
- Games feels solid.
- Multiple fun and challenging difficulties.
- Up to 4-player online co-op
- An arsenal of unique, silly, and awesome weapons with an abundance of random perks and traits that keep the game feeling fresh and make each run feel unlike the last.
- (At the time of writing this review) 3 unique characters with their own skill-trees and abilities.
- Bomb-doggo is best doggo.

Cons:
- Some language localisation issues. (improper grammar, etc.)
- (Nit-picking) 2D graphics - such as certain aspects of the HUD and floating text - are very low resolution and quite jarring. (to me)

This game is a fantastic buy for any roguelite fan. The Devs are very vocal with the community and they are releasing new patches and updates almost weekly.
Do yourself a favour and give this game a try.
