Interesting post processing makes it look much more realistic than crisp graphics can ever be.
Free game, about half an hour to finish.

Early Access Review
Although still very early access, the game is promising.
Building is still a nuisance and the lack of a way to directly employ a specific person for a specific task shines in absence, but other than that there is good base game in this Early Access game. Let's wait and see how the game improves :)

Very difficult choice for me to decide whether I should recommend this or not. If only there was a 'mixed' option...

The game aesthetic is the best I've seen in a game in ages. The game bathes you in a grim, depressing bio-mechanical world rich in gory visuals. The sound is awe-inspiring, too.

Combat feel out-of-place and has caused me frustration at several moments, especially after discovering a bug during boss fight. Boss fires grenades. Number of grenades fired sometimes doesn't match number of explosions, resulting in what feels like very unfair deaths. Due to lack of manual save option this gets very frustrating very fast, as you have to restart the boss fight and look at some scripted stuff several times .

Game length and price do not match, though. Game is worth max 15-20 EUR.
There's only about 5-6 hours of game play (ignoring reloads and getting lost in some confusing level design).
Worth it for the visuals and amazing sound, but combat is mediocre at best and puzzles are not challenging.

Only recommended if you play it for the visuals ;)

Multiplayer FPS where you capture points.
Low poly models, but nice map design.

It's free and only 1 GB so you might as well give it a try.

I played the Half-life: Day One pre-release demo back in 1998.
To this day, not a year has passed in which I haven't played one or more of the half-life games.

Only rarely have modern shooters come close to the level of immersion and quality set by the original Half-life and all of its successors.

If you haven't played Half-life, then give it a go. It's never too late to discover this game - heck, even after 25 years the gameplay does not feel outdated, the game runs well, and the story is still unrivaled!

Not really a citybuilding game imo.
It's a puzzle game in a citybuilding setting.

Can't recommend as it doesn't scratch my citybuilding itch.

Banished-like set in post-apocalyptic setting.
Fleshed out a bit deeper than banished (has light trade, exploration, and diplomacy mechanics).

Same as Banished, once you get past the first few seasons and reach a few tens of citizens, things get easier and you can expand much more rapidly.

The 'forum' building allows to address issues by selecting missions. This keeps things interesting as selecting an issue to solve gives you a quest to complete.

One downside is that the art style - although pretty - doesn't distinguish buildings a lot from a distance. Although this does make cities look somewhat like a bunch of the same stuff, it has been remedied by a button in the build menu which allows to go to already-constructed buildings of a certain type.
