(Very) Rough around the edges, kinda janky.

Has quite some depth, though. Engaging mechanics, different zombies, some minor puzzle elements.
Having your base nearby (on the train) provides some quality of life, as you do not have to roam further and further from your main base.

Pacing is relaxed: it isn't a high speed train and you are also far from athletic.
Game doesn't hold your hand either e.g. nowhere does it say you need to equip a key to unlock a door (logical but can be missed) or that you have to kill zombies with your bow before being able to open the gate for the train to depart from the first level (can be very confusing - I initially suspected a bug until the internet helped me find out why the gate wouldn't open).

As far as I can tell the repair mechanic is not yet implemented in the game. If it is, I haven't found it in any workbench/crafting station menu. Weapons can be crafted relatively cheaply and plenty of ammo and guns can be found.

TL;DR
There's definitely something here, but it needs some polish. You may have to use google to find out how some stuff works or interacts. Afaik weapons can not yet be repaired, but not a huge issue.

Very cluttered main menu and a lot of info on every screen (screen is very 'busy').

It reminds me of the earlier 'hero shooters', before Overwatch and the likes.
Pacing is good: not so fast you have to be twitchy, but not so slow that it gets tedious either.

Varied maps and the modifier cards chosen between each round are a nice twist on the genre.

This was nice while it lasted.
Had so much fun playing this.

It's dead now, though.

Mix of casual driving, gathering resources, inventory management, improving your vehicle, and learning how to interact with the world. Great idea, well executed.

Atmosphere is mysterious and scary as well as relaxing and cozy.

The way you interact with the world is very 'hands on'; you interact with many objects directly instead of through a menu.

There are a bunch of resources and you are constantly managing your inventory, but this is not too limiting or overwhelming early on and inventory space can be expanded by researching the tech tree.

Definitely recommended.

I love the game, but lost my save file.

If the game crashes or your computer shuts down, your saved game is no longer valid and a new game starts (n = 1). I haven't figured out how to get my save back, so I guess I'll start a new game.

Let's hope n = 1 doesn't increase.

Edit: Although it seems there is a possible fix, this issue should be fixable. I'll change my review to positive and hope there is no need to test the proposed solution :)

One more proof that the fun is in the game, not the graphics.

Always wanted to play this but it wasn't available on pc back then.
The controls are somewhat funky but that's not a big deal for this type of game.

Nice to know: I was cleaning out my steam cards from my inventory and apparently these cards sell for a whole lot higher than most games. Like tens of cents instead of the regular 0,03-0,06 range.
