The Forgotten City is a super engaging mystery game.
It's a solid unique and worthwhile adventure you can easily get lost in. I can't really add much without spoiling it, you'll have to dive in.

In terms of gameplay, it's very simplistic. Pretty much paint by numbers, meaning you'll hardly miss anything.
A+ for the voice acting, which greatly contributes to making this a solid recommendation as dialogues are a major part of the game.

If you're not into walking-talking games, then this really won't be for you.

If you've ever player the 1st, it's the same greatness but bigger and improved.

If you haven't, then you should!

D:OS2 is a massive turn-based RPG that gives unparalleled freedom when it comes to gameplay.
Seriously, I'm still mind-blown by the scale of the thing. You can pick up (almost) everything in the game world, you can learn tons of different spells and skills which you can combine together in very creative ways, along with environments that perfectly accommodate the chaos that ensues. There's almost always at least 2 ways of dealing with a situation. The game is quite literally a playground you can master your way.
And to top it all off, it's got great writing and a super engaging storyline.

Super easy 11/10 recommendation.

Same Death Stranding, but Director's Cut.

The writing's still cringe, and there's still plenty of walking to do (it's kinda fun okay...).
It does add a few fun gadgets and improvements.

If you want pew pew action and/or a solid story, it'll still be a skip.
If you don't mind something unconventional, crisp and relatively original, then go ahead.

Super addictive game with ultra simple mechanics and great depth.
It's also really cheap with none of modern gaming's corruption.

If you're a sucker for unlocks and progression, this game's the stuff!

I haven't finished it as of typing this, but I feel confident enough to leave a review.

Let's face it: It's essentially a walking simulator.
WASD + your mouse to interact with things is all you need. There's nothing wrong with that however! Plenty of good walking simulators out there.

Regarding the story, the main aspect.
Even if it's corny, even if its shallow, even if it feels like it's written for teenagers with a "how do you do fellow kids" feel, it's still kind of alright.
A bit disappointed that it only gives you the illusion of choice however, because in reality there's only 3 choices.
It looks like the kind of game you would replay, but it honestly feels like such a drag since you can't skip or fast forward (as far as I know anyway).

Style-wise, although you do get the feeling that this game is on a budget, I appreciate that it looks pretty unique.
Although, a lot of assets are re-used to death. All characters start looking the same, cars are the same (there's literally 4 cars, 1 van and 1 truck), locations are the same. Breaks the spell a bit, but ultimately not a deal breaker.
The OST sounds anachronistic (takes place in the late 90s, but most songs sound very modern), but that's cool.
My major pet peeves however are: the animations and the voice overs.

For a game that's almost exclusively about interacting with people, animations look pretty bad.
As for voice overs, few are great, some are good, and some are pretty bad. Again, it's a game that's all about people, this maaajorly breaks the spell for me.

All in all, while the execution is flawed, it still makes for an interesting journey. Some polish would turn this lukewarm recommendation into a confident one.

It's truly a great game, and a great PC port!

Engaging storyline, beautiful art direction and suuuuper crisp gameplay.
It's linear, but that's really not an issue. The game progresses very well, opening up slowly but surely, making it super engaging.

A super easy recommendation.

The GOAT, but a bit of a chore to get working on a 2020s PC.

This isn't a review of the game's multiplayer.
When it comes to RTS games, I'm a filthy casual. No fancy shortcuts, no grand strategy...
I'm really just in it for the resources hoarding, the upgrades and the attention to detail with things that honestly really don't need it.

Ever since my first playthrough of AoE 1 all those years ago, I've always been about meticulously building my "city", landscaping it, and seeing what lies at the end of the tech tree. It's always been very satisfying.

One thing I always loved about the AoE games was their diversity.
Lots of civilisations, lots of unique buildings, lots of unique destinations, and the history lessons.

AoE 3 was always lacking in the latter, but this re-release sought to correct the record. And I love it for it!
Where AoE 3 shined in my opinion was the sheer variety...

You have Civs that can break into other civs mid-game with their own advantages and drawbacks, a mountain of unique troops that can vary depending on which map you're playing... VISUAL TRANSFORMATION OF UPGRADED TROOPS!!! I always loved that one.

So yeah, I won't tell you about the merits of X strategy vs Y, about how falconets are OP or how this civ gets cumstered by others. I know nothing about that and frankly don't care.
But I WILL tell you about how this game looks great for its age, and how diverse it is!

Very short, but definitely worth it.

I consider it more of a "video game as art" type of game.
Gameplay is very simple yet engaging. But what makes this experience worth it is its unique blend of art style and music. It's beautiful and emotional.

Loved every second of it!
