Let's start with the most important thing - This is a bad remaster.

Holy cow. Please. Please put in more effort. You're bringing an ANCIENT RPG to all those peeps with rose colored glasses, and maybe even some younger folk who are just unaccustomed to how much SNOWBOARDING JRPGs traditionally came with.

Don't look too closely into my squints at steam dear god, 88.4 hours played on this painful re-release, I used the fast forward tool the entire time (Which made stuff infuriating in new ways even while it saved time), avoided every minigame I could, and ran my 100% run over 3 playthroughs of pure loot and scoot boarding. It wasn't an enjoyable 88.4 hours.

Let's do it like an Oreo sandwich, here's the good - FINAL FANTASY® VII Snowboarding has a remarkable soundtrack, even by today's standards.

And here's that ♥♥♥♥♥♥, palm-oil hydrogenated wafer at the bottom to remind your tongue how crappy Oreos truly are. That's all that was good. When FINAL FANTASY® VII Snowboarding came out back in the day, it was a game that missed all the marks that it's predecessor nailed. It truly came close at times, but it really never sticks any landing. Nostalgia alone does not float this board.

The story is almost compelling.

Some of the courses are kind of good, but with how obnoxious the slopes are in the beginning and how easy it is by playthrough two, you'll only end up using the roid-rage time attack mode, all while wishing there was an auto-boarder.

The tried to fix the intermediate "middle" coure, and in doing so, managed to break the poor mutated-difficulty option in other ways, making it unplayable again 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦

I'm not even touching on how hard it is to get it working on the Steam Deck, or how it's unplayable for about 10% of the purchasers.

Just, stay away. Square Enix could have done us such a solid. They have such a library that if they gave some TLC and brought to Steam, I'd buy every damn one.

You know what they did though? Treated it like it was the North American distribution of the SNES game 7th Saga. Gross.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Braid.

The puzzles are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the solutions will go over a typical 's head. There's also Jonathan Blow's polarising outlook, which is deftly woven into Tim's characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from breakup literature, for instance.

The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these walls of text, to realise that they're not just profound - they say something deep about LIFE.
As a consequence people who dislike Braid truly ARE idiots - of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the intellectual challenge in 12-piece puzzle solutions, which itself is a cryptic reference to John Spilsbury's original produced using a marquetry saw in 1760.

I swear to god, you know what the problem with the Rejuvenation community in Pokemon is? Everything is a terrain. People will post heartfelt apologies and they become the newest fashionable thing to for the next gym leader to set in response to irrelevant things. People will talk about their hopes and dreams and others will use them to boost their lowest stat. People will take random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ screenshots that were already completely devoid of meaning and take what little understanding could be gleaned from them and reduce the power of Dragon-type moves. I'm sick of it, and I'm beginning to wonder what it is I'm doing here. Do better.
