Terrible vehicle controls. There's a handling mod out there, but I don't know if I either installed it right, or it didn't really fix the problem. Still pretty fun to play.

Mix spells, time shots carefully, etc. First boss is a pain without friends.

I don't know how to play poker.

It's a good game for nostalgia purposes, but when you've grown up and played a bunch of other games besides this, you'll start to see the crust and wrinkles in the product.

For one, the collision detection is the main problem this game has. You'll see Sonic and his friends trip and stagger constantly over things that shouldn't make them do that. When going down a scripted track in Windy Hill as Sonic, you'll have a hard time keeping momentum due to him rubbing up against the sides, and there's not really much you can do about it. The control-reading is obtuse to the point that you have to pray that you're pushing the control stick the right way.

The scene transitions are also a bit awkward. Whenever the game puts your player character down before a cutscene, you can hear the sound of their feet hitting the ground. Coupled with awkward animations, it makes the game difficult to take seriously. Not that the story is best-seller quality, but it's noticeable enough.

Still, I recommend it to hardcore Sonic fans and anyone who's played this game when it came out on the Dreamcast. The Chao Garden's about the same as SA2B's, but with a couple missing features that were implemented in the sequel. I believe Dark and Hero Fruits are available for purchase?
