Up until my most recent return to the game I would've given this game an absolutely glowing review. 10 Gold stars, two thumbs up, and a strong recommendation to all idle/incremental enthusiasts to seriously give it a try. I easily considered it in my Top 3 of Top Idle Games I've ever played.

However upon returning I learned the developers made a change to one of their core progression systems that actively restricted the player's ability to both experience the system, and experience the game as a whole. The developers felt there was too much freedom allowed in being able to easily reset and reallocate upgrades in their 'Realms' system, and that experienced players were using this to optimize every single section of a given Realm and then resetting to a more favorable set of upgrades. This in turn was leaving players feeling left-out if they also did not engage with the mechanic in the same way, so the developers decided to entirely remove this option to freely reset. This was a grievous mistake to make. They have removed the ability for a player to choose how they wish to interact and experience the game, all to alleviate the worries of players who at least still had the choice whether or not to interact with the system in a way unfavorable to them or not. Now nobody has any choice in the matter whatsoever.

Removing player choice and player agency on how they experience your game is objectively always the worst option, regardless of what problem you think you are solving. The devs have broken a fundamental rule of design and permanently closed off a way to play the game, all so that people didn't feel forced to copy what the most experienced players were doing. I am extremely saddened the developers thought removing choice was a healthier game for everyone, when all it did was enforce their perceived 'correct' way to play the game. In such an open-ended and diverse Idler, with countless ways to approach and advance through the game, this feels very hypocritical and is antithetical to the entire foundation the game seems to have been built on.

Therefore I can't in good conscience recommend this game to anyone, as the devs have now shown they can and will enforce their perceived 'correct way' to enjoy their game at their discretion, even if it means completely crippling a group of players' preferred way of playing. I easily saw myself sinking over 1k hours in this title before I finished it, but the developers have destroyed my trust in them and their game, and I will take my time and good words elsewhere to a developer that respects them.
