For happiness in medieval era, i would suggest trying religion beliefs.
Using my other mod that extend their numbers would help in that regard :

Also try to control your cities population.
i think a repeatable +2 global happiness would unfortunately be a little unbalanced in long games.
When i play medieval era blocked game, I usually try to get little bits of available happiness from all possible source and using religion too and pop control. I usually end up with a happy civilization. But it is indeed one of the challenge of this era and its fitting, since its called the dark age ! :)
This is the great mode. Civ 5 with this mod is my best "for podcast game"!
And there is a little bit of a happiness problem at the latest stage.
Could you fix that? I don`t know programming magic, but maybe like
+2 global happiness for researching 'Mentoring'?
