The esssentials of Rocket Jumping.
The essentials you will need to use always before doing anything.

To put it simply:

  • Crouching whilst Rocket Jumping
Explanation: Crouching is very important, it pretty much helps you all the time during jumping.
Performance is also an important essential, without crouching whilst jumping, you will have
    many difficulties.
  • Timing with knowledge
Explanation: Timing is needed mostly for anything as timing is a habit you will learn through jumping and self-experience. Timing is the essential that benefits your performance the most.
  • Creativity and Individual thinking
Explanation: Rocket Jumping aren't just words to be thought of or easy to master. Rocket Jumping
is the way to let your creativity out and with common sense. The first thing you would might think of is that jumping is easy to perform, "just rocket jump!", sadly, without creativity and common sense of positioning your jumps and learning the physics, you will not have the benefit and the true possiblities that jumping has to offer. Think with common sense.
Pogo Jumping
Pogo Jumping, one of the main core aspects of the fun in rocket jumping.

What is Pogo Jumping?
Pogo Jumping is a very time based skill, based on your timed performance and knowledge on how you perform the Jumps. If you fail, it is mostly about the timing or the failure of your timing.

Function: Pogo Jumping is easy when you are learning timing, which is used almost in every form of Jumping. Pogo Jumping are small "quick-jumps" performed from the ground in which you can boost yourself and also kill (mostly with the market gardener), because you are still in the air and moving no matter how small the distance above the ground you are.
You can use Pogo Jumping to cover a huge amount of distance in the fastest way you can (this is called a "Speed Pogo"), though once you start gaining the speed it becomes much more difficult to pull it off, resulting with failing and hitting the ground. To avoid this you must realise that rockets do not explode instantly once you've fired, it is necessary to shoot in front of you, this way the rocket can travel with your speed and explode underneath you rather than behind you, resulting in a balance of height and speed.

Tutorial: Here is an popular video made by "Muselk" which shows you Information on how to learn these Jumps.

Strafing And Common Misconceptions
Pros and Contras.

Movement:
Rocket Jumping pretty much depends entirely on the movement of your mouse and the keys you press.
Strafing is the key to rocket jumping and is also an advanced technique for mastering the full, diverse collection of possiblites within jumping.

For example:
Whilst you're jumping, you must remember that crouching is essential, as it helps unlock further possibilities, enhancing speed and in some situations, control.
Using "W" while strafing sideways will cancel you from turning, don't use it for making jumps where you can only benefit from strafing. There are many jumping maps that have obstacles to train your strafing and the habit of not using "W" whilst strafing.

Using the keys "A" and "D" are obviously the 'keys' for strafing sideways and makes your strafing fluent and consistent, though it is advised for you not to move your mouse quickly, otherwise your speed will suffer greatly, which can result in you failing your jump.

Additionally, jumping can only work fluently when you jump with the "space bar" and then perform your rocket jump.

Common Misconceptions
  • Using the key "W" and "S" whilst strafing.
  • Not using the "crouch" key whilst jumping off/from the ground.
  • Moving your mouse too quickly.
  • Attempting a Rocket Jump without jumping with the "jump" key.
Synchronized Jumping
For beginners, the most difficult aspect of Jumping.

What is Synchronized Jumping?
Synchronized Jumping, also known as sync-jumping is a jump technique performed by timing and is a strategy to blast you off into the air with a single jump right at the moment of Rocket Synchronization.

Function:
Sync Jumping is mostly based on timing, however how it works is easily explainable.
When you are jumping from a huge height you need to shoot a "time based" rocket that
travels at the same speed as you. When you land you need to shoot a second rocket right when the first rocket hits the ground, resulting in a boost that is equal to doube the distance of a normal Rocket Jump.

Wall Jumping
The most basic feature of Jumping.

What is Wall Jumping?
Wall Jumping is pretty much the most basic thing or the first thing you will attempt in jumping.
It's just a simple method to jump from a wall wherever you want, however there's always a possibility for failiure, as easy as it sounds. For starters there are some techniques to learn.

Function:
Wall Jumping is pretty much the core of starting or the basic thing you do all the time in jumping. It's pretty easy to learn. Wall jumps can be done in different ways.

One is just jumping of a wall to get distance in a quick way. To get more speed than height you have to shoot just below of where your head (or point of view) is, if you shoot too low you will not gain much speed and will rather gain more height that is needed, sometimes resulting in fall damage.
Another technique is jumping high and then, while youre high in the air, using any wall next to you to gain that speed. The point of this is that you achieve a greater distance and height in the same jump, which is much more useful than the first technique. The down side of this is that you end up taking much more damage from either rockets, fall damage or both.

An Explanation of Counter Jumping
An quick explanation of what "Counter Jumps" are.

Counter Jumping is pretty much anything with just the purpose of countering your jumps , such as Pogo jumps , sync jumping and etc.

Counter Jumping depends on your reaction, timing and speed which in the end results in performance, if you have difficulties, try to start learning reaction timed Jumping maps such as
Sync Jump maps, Pogo jump maps etc.
Market Gardening.
The killing machine of Jumping.

What is Market Gardening?

Function:
Market Gardening is a killing method used with the weapon "Market Gardener", it's also a skilled sport done with Jumping. The purpose is to kill opponents with one or 2 hits as it deals 195 damage when in air and from air. There are many ways to perform market gardening, but the golden goal of market gardening to be learned is "Jumping".

Used: Market Gardening is also popular for 1v1's against other Market Gardeners(Soldiers)
People like to show their skills and also try to be better than others.
Market Gardening depends on the performance and the killing techniques you deliver to kill your opponents in an exstensive way, if you kill people without technique, knowledge or experience, it can be a bit stressful with the thoughts of others, but fun is the main aspect.
