Intro & overview
Hello Mr. Asset Creator here, I have had a lot of questions about how to use/place my so called ''Tramtubes.'' First something about my assets, the assets are based on the elevated tram/metro rail infrastructure in The Hague. I call them Tramtubes but they are called Netkous in Dutch. Though based on the infrastructure they are not a 1:1 recreation of them.

Now the assets themselves:
In the picture above you can see some of the tubes layed out next to each other. From left to right: the first three are free placeable tubes, one of which is a corner piece. These tubes can be placed anywhere and everywhere, do not require a road connection and/or services. The next three are tubes that can be placed parallel to roads, these function as parks and as such require a road connection and services. The last three are placed 90° rotated from the road and as the previous function as parks.

Not only tramlines can be placed in these tubes they will fit any network with an elevation of 12 meter. so you can use them as road bridges, train overpasses and a lot more!

For this guide you will need:
  • An anarchy mod link
  • My tramtubes of course link
  • This mod if you want to remove pillars from your networks link
  • common sense might be needed :3
how to place straight sections
Straight sections are the easiest to place, like always for the nicest effect flatten the ground first. For the tubes that function as a park place your zoneable road first. Then plop the tube down, it will look something like this:

Now you will need an anarchy mod, turn the mod on and proceed. Now select oneway tram tracks if you want the most perfect alignment with the tube.

Elevate the track to 12m.

And place the track. When you will have placed the track it will look something like this:

Afther these steps upgrade the oneway tramtrack to the desired network. with networks that can't be upgraded from roads like traintrack you will have to eyeball the placement. For this its recommended that you turn snapping off. In e end you will have somehing looking like this:
How to place curved sectiones
Curved sections are a bit more tricky to place that their straight counterparts. In this part of the guide we will continue from the previously placed section.

Firstly rotate the tube so it alligns nicely to the already placed section. Now turn of snapping and extend the network to first pole of the curve, at the first pole the curve actually starts to curve. You will now have something that looks like this:

Open the curving tool for your network and make a 90 degree curve right to the other pole of the tube. in the end you will have something that looks like this:

Yes, I know, these are plopable building/park type assets. I was pondering to the universe the possibility of such a network (road, tram, etc.) asset being created with the road editor since it allows the creation of (specifically in this case) custom/unique bridge and elevated textures for new network assets.

That's not how any of this works

Now that there is a road editor, I wonder if it would be possible to transfer the textures and create a drag-able road…?

No clue, nice idea though I will look into it!

This is a very cool idea and well executed! You know if you switch these to 'fence' shader you can make your meshes follow sloped terrain?
