Introduction
Welcome to the achievement guide for 1000 Amps!

The purpose of this guide is to give a clear and concise overview of the requirements for earning all 10 achievements in the game and reaching that perfect 100% completion.

1000 Amps is not a terribly difficult game. It's a basic puzzle platformer that should take anywhere between 6-8 hours to complete from start to finish. The puzzles are moderately challenging without being too frustrating and you don't really need insane reflexes for the platforming bits.

About the Game

You play as a plug, repairing the Amp-Tree system. You have to power up all its rooms by solving environmental puzzles and activating energy nodes. Certain rooms have multiple entrances and can only be fully completed (lit up) by entering from a specific direction. Some rooms can only be lit up if you've completed certain other rooms first. You can also find collectible seeds that allow you instantly solve (light up) any room (you'll find enough seeds for a total of five rooms). That's basically the long and short of it.

With all that out of the way, let's begin!
Achievements (part 1)
Teleport
Find the Teleport upgrade

This is the first permanent upgrade you receive, right before completing the tutorial section.

To reach it, just follow the path set out by the tutorial. You will light up several rooms along the way, but you can’t fully light everything just yet, so don’t worry about missing any rooms. You'll be able to come back later. You will eventually reach the teleporter room after jumping through a few consecutive conveyor belt rooms.

Teleport: The teleport upgrade allows you to teleport to your mouse pointer by left-clicking. This makes platforming much easier and is required for solving many rooms. Note that you can only teleport if you have lit at least one power node in the room. Teleporting will also drain any surrounding tiles, so make sure you're not standing next to any power node when you teleport.

Sonar
Find the Sonar upgrade

This and the following three upgrades can be collected after completing the tutorial bit and reaching the central room (Power Mantle). You can head to four directions from that room, and I suggest heading top right first, as it's the easiest path and the Sonar upgrade is incredibly useful. Make your way through the rooms until you reach the tower on the far right side, where the Sonar room is located.

Sonar: The sonar upgrade allows you to ping the room by holding S, briefly revealing all tiles in the room. This means you no longer have to explore rooms blindly and can pinpoint the location of power nodes. Although you have to be stationary to use this ability, is has no other limitations (you can ping as much as you want).

Light Boost
Find the Light Boost upgrade

To reach this upgrade, you must head down and right from the central room. The only path to the upgrade requires you to drop through several rooms, so you need to light them up first and head up to the correct room. Note: To leave the light boost room, you need to tele-jump (use teleport immediately after jumping, so the inertia carries you higher).

Light Boost: The light boost upgrade gives you a permanent aura that allows you to light up blocks around you without having to directly touch them. This can make some tough-to-reach power nodes much easier to light. The more power nodes you manage to light in the room, the larger the aura becomes.

Spikes
Find the Spikes upgrade

To reach this upgrade, you must head down and left from the central room.

Spikes: The spikes upgrade creates a circle of spikes around you, allowing you to kill pests by touching them. Pests are essentially the only "enemies" you encounter. All they do is turn off power nodes you’ve activated, but this can be a real nuisance. This upgrade makes many potentially difficult rooms far easier to complete.

Super Jump
Find the Super Jump upgrade

To reach this upgrade, you must head up and left from the central room. Since most rooms there are filled with pests, it should be the last area you visit (after acquiring the other three upgrades first). Leaving the super jump room takes you back to the tutorial area, allowing you to light up everything you missed the first time around.

Note: In some rooms (like Jump Bump), you need to give yourself extra height by jumping off the pests to light the seemingly unreachable power nodes.
Note: When boosting out of the super jump room, all the lights in the tunnel might not light up. It's advisable to come back to those rooms after acquiring the Infinite upgrade.

Super Jump: The super jump upgrade allows you to launch yourself upwards by jumping again mid-jump. You will fly straight up until you hit an obstacle. You can only double jump if you have full power (the room is fully lit), so this ability is mostly just for quicker navigation through certain sections.
Achievements (part 2)
Infinite
Find the Infinite upgrade

This upgrade is obtainable after you’ve collected all the other upgrades. Go back to the Trunk room via one of the hidden teleporters (there is one right after the Sonar room). Use super jump to head up the Trunk. You'll reach a large wide open "forest" area. This will eventually lead into a path outside the actual Amp-Tree and to the very top of the tree, where you'll reach the Infinite upgrade.

When you're standing on top of the seemingly inaccessible room with the upgrade, you need to jump all the way to the right (or left) to land on solid ground and light up the room immediately below it before you can jump up and grab the upgrade. Falling straight down means backtracking the whole way to the top of the tree through the "forest".

Infinite: The infinite upgrade gives you a permanently full battery, making any room trivial to complete as you will be able to teleport and super jump to your heart's content. This upgrade is also necessary for defeating the boss and completing the game.

Vanquished
Defeat the Intruder

You can enter the boss room from the central room at any time after lighting up all five branches of the tree, but you need the Infinite upgrade to actually beat him and complete the game.

The fight itself is easy enough. Just light up any blocks in the room, which causes the boss to flicker, then teleport on top of him. You'll need to do this in four consecutive rooms while avoiding his attacks. If you're hit, you'll be transported back to the central room. You can retry as much as you want. Defeating the intruder completes the game.

1-1
Complete this hidden room

This secret room is found in the room named Don’t Touch the Lava (in the top right section where you find the Sonar upgrade). You can walk through one of the tiles in the right side of the room, which leads to the secret room. As the name implies, it's modeled after the first level of a certain classic game. Just hop to the end. The achievement will unlock after you fully light the room.

Note that it’s much harder to get to the tile once you’ve completed the room, because the conveyor belts will be active. It might honestly be easier to start a new game and make a beeline to that room, since it’s in a fairly early part of the game and it should only take about 10 minutes to reach it.

The Tower
Complete this hidden room

This secret room is found in the room named Trunk. Although you can enter Trunk fairly early, you need the super jump upgrade to reach the secret room, so you’ll need to come back later. Super jump to the top of the trunk, then teleport towards the blinking tile on the right hand side and walk through it.

Note that you need either the Infinite upgrade or 5 seeds to solve the secret room and earn the achievement, as all the power tiles are otherwise unreachable.

All Lit Up
Beat the game with 100% completion

This achievement requires you to successfully light up every room in the game. You can track your progress on the pause screen. The achievement will unlock as soon as you defeat the boss while having all the rooms lit up. Some things to mention regarding this achievement:
  • Collecting all the seeds is not necessary for 100% completion.
  • Finding and completing the two secret rooms is also not necessary.
  • The room Pass Through Now, Come Back Later can only be solved after you have the Infinite upgrade (or with seeds).
  • The Infinite upgrade room itself cannot be lit.
  • If you're close to 100% but can't seem to find which room you're missing, the culprit is likely one of the ten Amp Fruit rooms. These are tiny rooms with hard-to-notice entrances, scattered around the tree and each containing a seed.
To make matters even easier for you, here's a high-quality map of the entire game that shows the layout and location of all the rooms in detail (including the two secret rooms): LINK[koenigskind.net]

Conclusion
That's it. I hope this guide has been useful.

Thanks for reading.

Good luck and have fun playing!

For 1-1, there's a bit of a glitch you can use to access the room, even after it's all lit up: I noticed if you pop out and into a room reeeeeally quickly, sometimes the conveyor belts will fail to load in all the way. It might take a bit of doing, but popping rapidly through the door on the left should eventually clear away enough conveyors that you can make it. (It worked for me!) For some reason, leaving the screen through the upper exit will always reset the conveyors to working order, so don't try it that way.

"The Tower" achievement won't popup if you use seeds. ( At least, it didn't for me in 2012, neither in 2019... just got it now after a re-run with the Infinite Battery Upgrade )

I didn't read the "defeat the last guy" part and sat there thinking, why don't I have my achievement?
But in the end I got it and this was helpful.
