antennas, drone needs to be in range of the controlling grid, and the grid in range of the drone's antenna

So how do you control your Drones? I'm not sure what type of communications network i need.

For leaving the atmospere you could have a timer block which turns the thrusters on full burn, then a second timer block which turns down the thrusters and set the Remote Control block to active so that it can reach a GPS coordinate once it has left the atmosphere.

Iearning to use laser antennas more in my builds is my next goal.

@Exphiser919 @5URG3 Honestly, though, why would you need that kind of comms network for this? Why does it need to stay connected? Wouldn't you just need antennas at the departure point and the destination, and enough of a comms network to link the two points? After all, this is an SSTO cargo drone...key word being "drone." I honestly figured the point was to set up a waypoint at the destination, have it fly there on autopilot whilst out of comms range, and then reconnect with it once it enters antenna range at your satellite or wherever your sending it to?

Though don't get me wrong, a manned SSTO cargo ship would be pretty awesome, too! ;~P

A manned cargo ship SSTO would be great. I'll see if I can find a good long range small antenna mod.

I'm afraid not bud. I think the Laser Antenna has a better range, not sure exactly what it is though. They are however, a bit of a pain to use. Maybe I should just make a manned cargo ship.

I would do sattelites, but you still need one every 5k. Do you know any good small ship antenna range increasing mods?

I was thinking more about skybases and satellites spaced along the route.
