Description
This mod makes the tower upgrades in FOTS actually worth their incredibly substantial cost (many turns of research, using a building slot, tens of thousand in koku spent, and many turns spent building them). You invest more time and money into them than a good army but they can't even move around and capture towns or useful things like that. Their only job is defense of one city so they deserve to be good at what they do for their large investment. Changes include:

Matchlock Tower: Range increased slightly, Rate of fire increased and accuracy increased.

Gatling Gun Tower: Range increased slightly, Rate of fire increased (actually feels like a gatling gun unlike before), spread of shot tuned down a bit. Spread is a measure of how far the shot deviates from the intended target. Spread matters most at maximum range and has almost no effect up close.

Cannon Towers: Now fire shrapnel shot instead of a regular, non-explosive cannon ball. Range increased to be able to counter enemy cannons. Retain ability to switch to gatling gun mode as units close in.

This is easy to fix with Total War Pack File Manager. Open the pack file and change the missile_type from shrapnel to cannon_ball. It's also good to copy the boshin_tower_arrow as shogun_tower_arrow if you're using any castle mods because those may use shogun_tower_arrow in FOTS too.

I haven't tested the star fort but if there's a problem just open data.pack and copy projectiles_tables values from there to get closer to stock. This won't require starting a new game or anything.

I would second this.

Any chance of an update? the blowing up your own walls thing sort of puts a damper on the whole "getoffmyfuckinglawndoomfort" vibe this mod gives defensive forts.

Could you perhaps make an optional version where the cannon batteries in starforts and regular shoot normal balls instead? The shrapnel shells have a tendency to burst close to the structure thye are shot from; they then blow it up and render i useless (not to mention killing all your troops on top of it, in the case of starforts).

Is there a way for it to not fire shrapnel shot and fire regular explosive shot instead? I feel presonally that constant shrapnel is a bit OP, so I just would need to know how to personally make changes.

which line in the file would i edit to make the battery towers fire explosive shells instead of shrapnel shot?
also, any ideas on how to make star forts with battery towers NOT have the battery tower kill a bunch of your own men by clipping the star fort wall with a shell, blowing it up and not only killing a bunch of men but also destroying the guns embedded in the wall?
