A Handbook To Every Survivalists Chapter 4: Items

Here it is!This chapter of the Handbook will be about items.It'll easily be the biggest chapter.Brace yourself!

Also,this is the first chapter of the guide done in coop with CoffeeChipmunk and We're both very happy of cooperating together,and hope you enjoy!

Introduction the Chapter 4
In this Chapter,you'll learn everything you need to know about Items,those things you grab on the ground and put on you to get stronger.There's so much of them,and they are such a core element of the gameplay,we'll divide the guide into multiple parts:By rarity and use.For exemple,the Paul's Goat Hoof item would go into White Support section,while the Gasoline would go into White Offensive and the Guardian's heart would go into the Green Defensive.Then the inside of every one of those sections will be sorted by Alphabetical Order.

That will make a lot of tabs,but there is a lot of items.Quantity's quantity,and this Handbook plans on being the most complete possible.Brace yourself,here it comes!
Terms you might not understand
In this guide,to make things faster,we use terms.Here is what most of them means

Stacks:Everytime you get more than one item,you're "Stacking" it.When we say,for exemple "+5% chance of activation per/on stack",it just means you get +5% chance to activate for every new item you pick up.

Stacks multiplicatively:Those are more complicated.That means everytime you pick an item,you'll get the bonus,but it'll be lower and lower the mroe you get of that item.The actual maths are really Science-y,and not worth memorizing for every items that stacks multiplicatively

Unlocked by:Default:Means you have it unlocked from the start.Not really hard to get,just explaining it to be sure.
Offensive White Items
Barbed Wire
Hurts nearby enemies
Effect:Enemies close to you take 50% damage per second,+20% range and 10% damage on stack
Unlocked by:Default
This item is either a must-get or a don't touch depending of your character.If you're melee,get it,if not,leave it be.Barbed wires can chip some HP out of anything coming close to you,increasing your DPS greatly.But things get better when you stack them.On a stack of 10,you'll have such a great range and damage it could 2-shot enemies with Glass Artifact and will have a big enough range to do it to enemies before you can hit them

Bundle of Firework
Opening a chest launches fireworks at nearby enemies.
Effect:Fires 8 missiles that deals 300% on opening a chest,more missiles and damage on stack

If you're playing with Sacrifice artifact,avoid at all cost,as it will be close to 100% useless unless on the last level.Works on opening/spending money on things,including drones.The missiles can deal a nice amount of damage,but kinda too situational for being very useful.Much more useful items out there.

Crowbar
Deal more damage to healthy enemies.
Effect:Deal +50% damage to enemies over 80% health,+30% on stack.

Nice one if you get a build on it.Thing is,if you have anything that deals damage independtly of you (Barbed Wire,Ceremonial Dagger,Chargefield Generator,Gasoline,ect),it won't work if it is able to remove 20% of their health.But since it seems to stack infinitely,you could one-shot everything from full health with those.Usefull if you build on it.

Gasoline
Killing enemies sets the ground on fire.
Effect:Burn the ground fofr 60%/sec for second on kill,+40% on stack
Unlocked by:Defeating 20 Lemurians in one playthrough.

Pretty good one,especially if you stack,like most whites.60% is not that much,but it seems to stack infinitely (Like most whites) so it can deal some serious damage on kill if you manage to stack 10 or so,you can just do one kill and the rest of the horde will die.Get both for melee and ranged,it's a good one!

Headstompers
Hurt enemies by falling.
Effect:Deals up to 507% damage on falling on an enemy depending on your falling speed,more damage on stack

Really great item,once again.Dealing damage by falling on enemies is great,if you stack it with Hopoo Feathers and Rusty Jetpacks to upgrade the damage.It will hit multiple enemies,and it seems to stack infinitely.If you like having great movement speed and multiple jumps,get this as you might do free damage on falling down.

Mortar Tube
Chance to launch a mortar.
Effect:9% chance to fire a Mortar that deals 170% on hit,+170% on stack

The damages are good,but the chance to fire one is kinda low,unless you get a really fast attacker.Getting a couple of those mortar tubes will make the damage pile up to insane levels,but it'll stay 9% so kinda unreliable.A fast character might be able to shoot it often,but don't make that your main weapon,as it's kinda unreliable.

Rusty Knife
Chance to bleed on hit.
Effect:15% chance to bleed enemies for 4x35% on hit,+15% chance on stack (non-linear)

It's kinda good on characters that have piercing or fast attacks.The stacking is non-linear,meaning you get less percentage upgrade everytime you get one (For exemple,1 Rusty Knife=15%,2 RK=29%,3 RK=45%.Those aren't the actual numbers).It's really not that good on anything without fast/piercing attacks though.

Sticky Bomb
Chance to attach a bomb to enemies.
Effect:8% chance to attach a bomb on the enemy for 140% damage,+40% damage per stack
Unlocked by:Detonating 15 Bounding Mines in under 5 seconds with Engineer

Really not that good of an item.Mortar Tube has way higher stats and higher upgrades on stack,with higher chances to fire too.Some peoples might like it,because sticky bomb is sure to hit while Mortar Tube might fall where there is no enemies,but stat-wise stacked Mortar Tube are way better than stacked Sticky Bombs.
Defensive White Items
Bitter Root
Increased maximum health by 8%.
Effect:+8% max HP,gives another +8% on stack,up to 38 roots (300% of max HP)
Unlocked by:Reaching 650 max HP

This item is better than good.Getting 300% of max HP defenitively is something you want to do on the long run,and even 8% is good!Combine this with Infusion and you'll boost the gains from Infusion with the percentage of the bitter root,making it give you more than 1 health even if Infusion isn't stacked!Must get for everyone!

Bustling Fungus
Heal quickly after standing still for 2 seconds
Effect:After standing still for 2 seconds,heal +4.5% max HP/second.+4.5% regen per stack.

Good item too.If you need to regen,you can just go on a platform where enemies can't reach,wait 2 seconds,and your HP will regen crazy fast.Goes very well with HP upgrading items and Health regen items to boost even more your HP regen.

Meat Nugget
Enemies drop chunks of healing meat.
Effect:8% chance to make 2 meat nuggets drop on hitting an enemy,healing 6 health.+6 HP on stack

Really isn't that good of an item on the long run.At the beginning with Glass Artifact activated it can help,but afterward it's a wasted item.Avoid getting unless you're going to get hundreds of them for a "decent" heal.

Medkit
Receive a delayed heal after being hit.
Effect:1.1 second after getting hit,heals you of 10 HP.Heals 10 more HPs per stack

Kinda meh item.It's bad if you've got only one,but getting 10 will give a 100 HP heal,and 100 would get a 1000 HP heal.Getting 1000 (Good luck) would give you a 10000 heal,meaning you'd need to take 9999 damage in under 1.1 second to die,since max hp is 9999.But if you're not planning on doing tremendeous stacks..Pass.

Monster Tooth
Heal after kills.
Effect:Get 10 HP recovered on kill.+5HP per stack.
Unlocked by:Default

Good item if stacked.9 of them gives a 50 HP heal every kill,which is pretty good.Now get about 100 of them,and it's a 505 heal you've made yourself every kill.Very,very good if stacked a lot and on the long run.

Mysterious Vial
Increased health regeneration.
Effect:+1.2 HP regen/sec,and gives another +1.2 HP regen/sec on stack

Good item to increase your HP regen.Getting 10 of them will make your HP fly upwards because of the +12 HP/sec regen,and stacking more will make your health go up so fast you'll be virtually invincible.Really good item because it stacks so well and has such a good effect by default

Sprouting Egg
Rapidly heal outside of combat
Effect:After not getting hit for 7 seconds,increases HP regen by 2.4/sec
Unlocked by:Default

People often misunderstand being "out of combat".You might fight and be considered "out of combat",as long as you don't take damage.This one can be useful,but not taking damage for a long period of time (Over 7 seconds) will mean your HP isn't exactly low,especially if you've got more HP regen items.Kinda good but kinda bad too.
Support White Items
Fire Shield
Retaliate on taking heavy damage.
Effect:Whenever you take 10% of your max health in one shot,you explode and deal 200% damage,does more damage on stack

Kinda good item,but it only activates when you take a big hit.Having high max HP will make it trigger a hard thing.It's not really that good,even if it does deal good damages you won't be able to trigger it end-game

Hermit's Scarf
Chance to evade attacks.
Effect:Increases evasion by 10%.Increases it by another 5% on stack,up to 35%
Unlocked by:Achieve 200% attack speed with Huntress

Great item.Get enough to reach 35% and that's a 1/3 chance to avoid every hits.Pretty much self-explanatory,nothing much else to say.

Lens Maker's Glasses
Chance to do double damage.
Effect:Gives 10% critical hit chance.Additional lenses won't give you 10%,but it will increase your crit chance non-linearly (The more you get,the lower the bonus is.)

Extremely good item,as Critical hit builds are great way to win the game easily.You'd need infinite of those to get 100% crit chances though,so to get the 100% you'll want to combine this with things like Predatory Instincts,Harverster's Scythes,Wicked Rings and such.Very good overall,and a must get.

Life Savings
Earn gold over time.
Effect:Gain 1 gold every 3 seconds.Higher Gold/second rate on stack

Can be good if you get a lot of them,but too much can break your run:As you try to teleport,you'll keep gaining money,meaning you'll never teleport as money generates faster than exp is sent to you (After you stack it a couple of times that is).Pretty good combo with Captain's Brooch,letting you get infinite items,but requires great patience.It's not bad but not good,depends of the use you have of it.

Paul's Goat Hoof
Run faster
Effect:Increases your speed by 20%,increases it by another 20% on stack up to a cap of 26
Unlocked by:Fail a shrine 3 times in a row

If Paul sold his Goat Hooves,he would be the Bill Gate from the future.That thing is defenitively one of the best items in the whole game when stacked,giving you incredible speed at 26.It's so good,I usually only get that until 26 stack. (Command artifact).Get it,just do it and get it.It's a must get,and a run without these is a slow run.

Snake's eyes
Gain increased critical strike chance on failing a shrine. Removed on succeeding a shrine.
Effect:When failing a shrine,you gain +6% crit chances.+3% crit/shrine fail on stack
Unlocked by:Pass a shrine 4 times in a row.

Sounds good,but it isn't really that good.If you fail a shrine 6 times in a row,you'll get 36% increased crit,and that's the max you can get out of one.Thing is,it's hard to fail a shrine 6 times in a row,it costs a lot and there's better crit items.Also,the bonus goes away with time,of or if you succeed on a shrine.Kinda luck-based item really,there's better.

Soldier's Syringe
Increased attack speed.
Effect:Increases your attack speed by 15%,and stacks infinitely (+15% each until 8,hard to notice changes after reaching 8)
Unlocked by:Dodge 7 lethal attacks with the Commando

Another great item,going in the same category as Paul's Goat Hoof.Only 8 of them and your attack speed will be really,really high.Self-explanatory item,goes well with everyone.

Spikestrip
Drop spikestrips on being hit, slowing enemies.
Effect:When hit,drops a Spikestrip that slows enemies for 20%.Increases duration on stack.
Unlocked by:Nlocking 2000 damage total with the Enforcer's shield

Would be a good item if it didn't activate on being it,as if you're being attacked it's too late to slow them.Some peoples might find a use to it,but I don't think it's that good at all.Get it only if you know a use for it.

Warbanner
Drop a Warbanner on leveling up, giving you great strength.
Effect:When you level up,you drop a Warbanner,and when in range your stats increase.Better bonuses on stack

Really isn't that great of an item.In the beginning of the game,it could be helpful,but when you'll reach level 15+ the Warbanners won't be happened that much.Might be useful to get one because it is a great bonus,but it's passable.

Taser
Chance to snare on hit.
Effect:7% chance to snare an enemy for 1.5 seconds,+0.5 duration per stack
Unlocked by:Travel 20'000 feets using the Hydrolic Gauntlet

Will freeze enemies in place for 1.5 seconds at a 7% chance.Kinda good,but you defenitively think there's better things.For a white item,it's decent,especially for Ranged classes,but things like Thallium or Prison Shackles will beat it,even though they only reduce speed and not freeze,they're 100% chance to happen
Offensive Green Items
AtG Missile Mk. 1
Chance to fire a missile. Watch for the backblast.
Effect:Has 10% chance to fire a missile on hit,dealing 300%.+10% chance on stack.

Pretty good item if you can get 10 of it,as at that point you'll have 100% chance to fire the missile.More than 10 doesn't do anything though.Survivalists that attacks fast will be able to take good advantage of this,making a lot of Missiles.Combos well with Brilliant Behemoth.

Boxing Glove
Chance to knock enemies back.
Effect:Has a 6% chance to knock back enemies.The stronger the attack,the bigger the knockback.Stacks multiplicatively.
Unlocked by:Default

Kinda bad item.The knockback goes higher the better the damage you do,but if you're able to do that much damage you're not going to need them to be far away in the first place.Can come in handy,but there's better

Chargefield Generator
Create a ring of lighting after killing an enemy.
Effect:On kill,creates a lightning ring around you,dealing 50% damage/sec to enemies for 6 seconds.Size increases increases and time resets upen kill,and damage increases of 10%/sec on stacking
Unlocked by:Eviscerate 50 enemies with Mercenary

Ah,there's a good item!That thing will deal decent damages to enemy per second,and it's range will reach gigantic proportions if you do a lot of kills.Stack those a lot and it will be able to kill even tanky enemies in under 6 seconds,which is how much it lasts,meaning infinite Chargefield!

Frost Relic
Killing enemies surrounds you with icicles.
Effect:Surrounds you with 3 icicles on kill,each dealing 33% damage.+1 Icicle/kill on stack

Pretty good item for Melee classes,going in the same class as Barbed Wire or Chargefield generator.Pretty self-explanantory,not much to say about this one!

Golden Gun
More gold, more damage.
Effect:The more gold you have,the more damage you do,giving you a 40% bonus damage on reaching 7000 gold.Halves needed gold per stack
Unlocked by:Bank 20k gold at the same time

Not really useful.It does give some free damage,but it's not that much.Late-game it really is just a "Free 40% damage" bonus,even if you've only got one,so getting one might be a good idea,even though it's passable

Predatory Instincts
Critical strikes increase attack speed. Stacks 3 times.
Effect:Increase attack speed by 10% on crit,up to 30%.+5% crit chance.Gives +1% attack speed boost and +5% critical hit when stacked
Unlocked by:Kill then Ancient Wisp without taking damage as the Huntress

Pretty good item for crit builds,and attacking faster.Combine it with other Crit items to achieve 100% crit chance and have permanent attack speed buff!

Toxic Worm
Infected!
Effect:Gives a virus to an enemy on touching them,dealing 50%/sec and bouncing on death.Multiple infections on stacking
Unlocked by:Spread 10'000 feets of "Caustic Sludge" with Acrid

Pretty useful item for melee classes,as you'll often come in contact with enemies.Free DPS.Self-explanatory,nothing much to say about this one

Ukulele
...and his music was electric.
Effect:Has a 20% chance to chain hit enemies for 4x33% on hitting them.+33% damage on stack.

Good item if you have high attack speed.It will defenitively do a lot of damage,especially if you stack it.Get it with Soldier's Syringe and such for maximum effects!

Will-o'-the-wisp
Chance to detonate enemies on kill.
Effect:33% chance to create a pillar of fire on kill,dealing 500% damage.Increased damage on stack.
Unlocked by:Default

Nice item simply for the tremendeous damage.Combine it with other on kill items like Ceremonial Dagger and it'll be overkill!
Defensive Green Items
Dead Man's Foot
Drop a poison trap at low health.
Effect:At low health,drop a poison bomb that explodes and deals 4x150% damage.+1 poison tick on stack
Unlocked by:Find the Bloated Survivor

Bad green item.The poison trap doesn't do that much,and it only triggers when you reach low health.Could possibly kill a couple enemies before you die,but won't always save you,it's unreliable.

Guardian's Heart
Gain a shield. Your shield recharges when out of combat.
Effect:Gives you a 60 HP shield,recharging out of combat.+60 HP to the shield per stack

Pretty good item.If you take more damage than the shield has HP while it's active,your health won't take any hit,making this good even if there's only one of it.Good at the beginning and at the end of any game,and is the only way to achieve higher than 9999 HP.

Harvester's Scythe
Critical hits heal you.
Effect:+5 crit chance,+8 HP on crit.Adds another +5% crit and +2HP on stack
Unlocked by:Use a Health shrine that makes your HP under 5%

Good item to get on a crit build.Stack it with other crit items for 100% crit chance!Pretty self-explanatory.

Infusion
Killing an enemy permanently increases your health.
Effect:Gives you +1 Max HP per kill.+0.5 Max HP/kill on stacking.
Unlocked by:Default

First item you should ever get,especially if you use Glass Artifact.The health bonuses can become insane,and is the best defensive item you could ever ask for.Getting more gives you more Max HP faster,allowing easy reaching for the 9999 HP cap.Must get,must get.

Leeching seed
Dealing damage heals you.
Effect:Gain 2 HP everytime you hit an enemy.+1 HP gained on stack
Unlocked by:Default

Good item for fast attacking characters.The regen can really help in tight spots,and at least getting one is a good idea.Nothing much to say about this one.

Panic Mine
Drop a mine at low health.
Effect:Upon reaching low health,you drop a mine that deals 500% damage.Drops an aditional mine on stack
Unlocked by:Survive a teleporter event without falling under 50% HP with Miner

Just another "Drop on low health" item,and I still find it to be pretty bad,as there is way better green items out there.Nothing much to say else.

Tough Times
Reduce incoming damage by 14%
Effect:Increase your armor by 14 points.Increases it further by 14 by stacking,to a cap of 65.
Unlocked by:Default

Good item to get,as it's purely and simply a big defense boost.Getting a couple of them until 65 armor boost is achieved is always a good idea,to make sure you don't die easily.Must get for melee classes.
Support Green Items
56 Leaf Clover
Elite mobs have a chance to drop items.
Effect:Elite mobs get 4% chance to drop an item.Stacks up to 30% with 8 of them.
Unlocked by:Kill the Scavenger

Really good item with artifacts like Sacrifice,Command,Honor and Kin.Get Lemurians,and farm the first level until supremacy.Good on the long run and the short run.More chances for items is always good

Arms Race
Drones are equipped with explosive weaponry.
Effect:Drones have 9% chance to fire a missile.Increase chances on stacking
Unlocked by:Kill 10 enemies at the same time with HAN-D's FORCED REASSEMBLY

Pretty good item if you use drones.Otherwise,pass your path.Nothing much to say else,it's great with drones and useless without.

Concussion Grenade
Chance to stun enemies.
Effect:9% chance to stun enemies on hit.Increases chances multiplicatively on stack.
Unlocked by:Kill a boss in under 15 seconds with Engineer

Fast attacking peoples will love this.Stack this item a lot,and your enemies will simply be petrified!Good item overall,get a couple of those.

Energy Cell
Attack faster at lower health.
Effect:Boosts attack speed the lower your health is,for up to 40% boost at 10% HP.Higher boosts on stacking
Unlocked by:Default

Might help you out on a tight spot,increasing your DPS a lot.Thing is,it requires you to lower your health to activate it,so it's really just there to save your life.Could be useful to get.

Filial Imprinting
Hatch a strange creature who drops buffs periodically.
Effect:Drops buffs for your stats every 20 seconds.Hatches more creatures on stack
Unlocked by:Drown 20 Whorls

As much as it's cute,it's really not that useful.The buffs are cool,but nothing else,really.Could be useful to get one,but nothing game changing really.

Hopoo Feather
Gain another jump.
Effect:Gives you another jump.More jumps on stacking
Unlocked by:Default

Damn useful,this thing.Simple but game changing.That extra jump is really,really appreciated,and stacking multiple of those lets you reach new heights!

Prison Shackles
Slow enemies on attack.
Effect:Slows enemies by 20% for 1s on hit.Slows enemies by another 20% (Max 60%) and for +0.5s per stack

Really good item for ranged classes,but bad for melees.Use it to make kitting way easier!Stacking it 3 time is the best,for 2s slow of 60%

Red Whip
Move fast out of combat.
Effect:Taking no damage for 1.5 second gives a 80% movement speed boost.Minor spped boost increase on stack

Really good one there.Increases movement speed a lot!Get one,but getting more isn't really needed as the increase is not that good.

Rusty Jetpack
Increase jump height and reduce gravity.
Effect:+10% jump height and -50% gravity.+10% jump height on stack
Unlocked by:Default

This one,combined with Hopoo Feather,is the best combo out there.You can jump so high with those,that it's more like flying at that point!10 of each and you can travel a map by jumping.Must get!

Smart Shopper
Enemies drop extra gold
Effect:Enemies drop +25% gold.+25% gold again on stack
Unlocked by:Default

Good item if you're not running sacrifice.Get mutliple of those,and never again will you see money probs!

Time Keeper's Secret
Falling to low health stops time.
Effect:Falling to low health stops the time for 3 seconds.Stacking makes it stop for another second,up to 10 at 8 of them
Unlocked by:Default

Would be a better item if there wasn't a ~7 minute recharge time on it.Pretty good if you need to run away and you're in a tight spot,but otherwise it's kidna rendered useless thanks to it's recharge time.
Offensive Red Items
Brilliant Behemoth
All your attacks explode!
Effect: All your attacks explode for a bonus 20% damage to nearby enemies.
Unlock: Unlocked from start.
This is an awesome item, works so well with everyone, but the faster the character, the more damage you deal. Every stack adds another 20% damage to it.


Heaven Cracker
Every 4 basic attacks pierce through enemies.
Effect: Every 4 basic attacks pierce through enemies for 100% damage.
Unlock: Unlocked from start.
The biggest issue with melee is not being able to kill all the dudes you need to. This covers it. Soldier's Syringe and this go hand and hand together, and every extra stack reduces one more attack needed to pierce. Getting four means every attack pierces. Getting this and Brilliant Behemoth are like Bonnie and Clyde, honestly.


Hyper-Threader
Pew pew.
Effect: On hit: Every attack fires a laser, dealing 40% damage and bouncing to 2 enemies.
Unlock: Activate the third teleporter without being hit once while playing Commando.
This baby is awesome. works better when you attack faster, so better get to work grabbing those Soldier's Syringes! Every extra stack adds an aditional bounce.


Shattering Justice
Reduce enemy armor on hit. Stacks 5 times.
Effect: On hit: Attacks reduce enemy armor by 5. Reduction stacks up to 25.
Unlock: Reach level 10 without getting hurt more than once while playing miner.
This isn't a bad item, but it isn't fantastic either. The debuff is good, but the unlock is just a pain in the ass thing to do. I cannot suggest it.



Laser Turbine
Using skills charges up to a huge laser blast.
Effect: All your attacks charge the generator. At full power, fire a laser for 2000% damage.
Unlock: Have 20 cleavers in the air simultaneously while playing CHEF.
Having a fast attack makes this item a death machine, as your basic attack is considered an abilitiy. 2000% damage is a lot of damage, and can really help if you're fighting off a mob, as it pierces, and goes through walls. Stacks reduce the charge needed to fire.


The Ol' Lopper
Always critically strike against low health enemies.
Effect: On hit: 100% critical chance on enemies below 9% health.
Unlock: Survive for 40 minutes.
I have mixed feelings about this. If you combine it with some Wicked Rings, it can become sorta useful, and every stack raises the threshold by 4%, maxing out at 35% at 8 stacks, but it just doesn't seem that powerful to me, at least on its own.


Telescoping Sight
Chance to instantly kill an enemy.
Effect: On hit: 1% chance to instantly kill an enemy.
Unlock: 1-shot kill 10 enemies consecutively as Sniper.
I don't know about this item, it's not that good in my opinion. 1% isn't a large enough chance for me to use it, and it stacks .5% every stack, maxing out at 3% at 5 stacks. You could use it against Providence, but the chances would be low.


Telsa Coil
Shocks nearby enemies.
Effect: Shock nearby enemies for 150% damage.
Unlock: Unlocked from start.
Great rare, and unlocked from start. It's like a deadlier Barbed Wire. You can stack it up to 3 times, dealing a total of 220% damage at the end. I think you''ll find the item... shockingly powerful.


Ceremonial Dagger
Killing an enemy fires spirit bolts.
Effect: On kill: Upon killing an enemy fire out 4 heat-seeking bolts that deal 100% damage.

This OP SOB is amazing, especially on Glass, as the 4 bolts are awesomely powerful. Oh, and stacks give you another 2 bolts. Need I say more?


Plasma Chain
Chance to tether yourself to an enemy.
Effect: On hit: Chance to tether onto enemies dealing 60% damage per second.
Unlocked: Unlocked from start.
Okay, let me start off by saying, you do not pull the enemy towards you, the enemy does not pull you, it just connects. This becomes an electric chair for Magma Worm, as it hurts every enemy next to them, as well. Very nice item, very misleading.


Permafrost
Chance to freeze enemies on hit.
Effect: On hit: Chance to stun enemies for 1.5 seconds and slow enemies by 60% for three seconds.
Unlock: Unlocked from start (Probably because it is crap.)
Seriously though, this item is awful. Probably the worse rare in the game, I do not have an upside for this item.


AtG Missile Mk. 2
Hooah.
Effect: On hit: A 7% chance on hitting an enemy to fire three missiles that deal 3x300% damage
Unlock: Unlocked from start. ♥♥♥♥ yeah, Hoorah!
Ah, one of the good rares. These fire 3x300% missiles, dealing 900% damage, nothing to complain about here. Each stack adds another 7% of rockets, so make sure to get 15 of em, 105% chance of firing, then.


Thallium
Chance to slow and damage enemies over time.
Effect: On hit: Damage/slow by 500 enemy damage% and 100% speed over 3 seconds.
Unlock: Unlocked from start.
Before I start, there is a 10% chance of it activating, which is a good chance, honestly. This is a very nice item for ranged classes and melee alike, but only one stack is allowed, so that makes me kinda sad.


Fireman's Boots
Fight fire with fire.
Effect: Walking leaves behind a fire trail that burns for 35% damage.
Unlock: Survive 1 minute in lava straight.
This unlock really isn't that hard, get some Mysterious Vials and Foreign Fruit, and stand still. The one minute will pass by in no time. Every stack adds another 20% damage to it, and it is a great item overall. Best used with Melee units.
Defensive Red Items
Dio's Best Friend
Cheat death once.
Effect: On death: Taking fatal damage revives you to 40% health. Invincible for 2 seconds.
Unlock: Die 50 times. Simple, huh?
Ay dios mios! What a fantastic item! This item has saved my ass more times than I can count, it is a great item. Revive, 40% health, and 2 seconds of invincibility, what else could you ask for? Even if you do stack it, it'll just remove the entire stack, you cannot get a bunch of revives in command.


Repulsion Armor
After taking damage, reflect all attacks for 4 seconds. (Actually is 3 seconds!)
Effect:After taking 6 hits,reduce and reflect incoming damage of 83% for 3 seconds.Increases duration by 1 second on stack,for up to 8 seconds
Unlock by:Default

Great item for any classes,lets you not only take less damage for a duration,but also reflect it,dealing the damage to your enemy!Can be useful to get it.
Support Red Items
Ancient Scepter
Upgrade your 4th ability.
Effect:Upgrade your fourth ability; this is unique to each character class.
Unlock: Beat the game on Monsoon difficulty using Mercenary..
This has to be the greatest item in the game. It doesn't do more damage, it doesn't protect you, it improves your 4th ability. This effects every character differently, so I cannot give an exact use of it, because it effects everyone.

Effect on every characters below
Commando:Suppressive fire become Suppressive Barrage,shooting 10 times.
Enforcer:Crown Control becomes Tear Grenade,making it give a fear effect on enemies.
Bandit:Light's Out becomes Assassinate,making you shoot twice now.
Huntress:Cluster Bomb becomes MK7 Rockeye,dropping twice as much bomblets
HAN-D:FORCED_REASSEMBL becomes UNETHICAL_REASSEMBLY,adding a stun and shock effect
Engineer:Auto-Turret becomes Auto-Turret MK.2,adding 1 turret to the max you can hold
Miner:To The Stars becomes Starbound,doing 2 more explosions on the sides
Sniper:Spotter:SCAN becomes Spotter:ISOLATE,giving it a slow effect
Acrid:Epidemic becomes Pandemic,healing you whenever it kills
Mercenary:Eviscerate becomes Massacre,now refreshing duration on kill,jumping to a nearby enemy
Loader:M440 Conduit becomes M700X Discharge Conduit,now stunning the first enemy it hits
CHEF:SECOND HELPING becomes FULL COURSE MEAL,letting you use 2 boosted ability per use.



Alien Head
Reduces cooldowns for your skills.
Effect: Decreases your cooldowns by 30%.
Unlock: Obtain 7 Monster Teeth and 1 Guardian's Heart.
This item gets better as you improve it. It can stack up to 3 times, having 30% cooldown with one, 50% with the second, and 60% with the third, which can really reduce the cooldown time. Works well with all characters.
Uses: This effects everyone. Get it. Get it.


Wicked Ring
Critical strikes reduces all your cooldowns by 1, +6% critical chance.
Effect: On crit: (+6% crit chance) Critical strikes reduce cooldowns by 1 second.
Unlock: Collect 4 keycards on the final level.
This item on it's own isn't great. But, mix in some Harvester's Scythe, The Ol' Lopper, Predatory Instincts, and Lens Maker's Glasses, it creates a lean mean killing machine. Stacking it adds another 6% and another second removal on crit.
Use: Best used on Sniper, Huntress, and quick melee characters like Mercenary.


The Hit List
Killing marked enemies permanently increases damage.
Effect: Killing a randomly marked enemy permanently increases damage by 0.5.
Unlock: Reset your cooldown 15 times consecutively while playing Bandit.
One of the greatest reds in the game, giving extra damage for every mark. Stacking adds the ammount of marked enemies that show up on the screen, which isn't that great, but it is still a great item.


Beating Embryo
Use items have a chance to double effect.
Effect: Use items have a 30% chance to deal double the effect.
Unlock: Unlocked from start
Getting this plus Thqwibs is the most OP combo ever, and each stack adds another 30% chance. Having 4 gives you a 100% chance of doubliing, and with Thqwibs, that means 12000% explosive damage.


Photon Jetpack
No hands.
Effect: Allows the player to fly for up to 1.6 seconds nonstop; the jetpack's fuel tank quickly refills when not in use.
Unlock: End a teleporter timer with 0 enemies on the map.
This item is okay, nothing a few Hopoo Feathers wouldn't do, but it isn't bad. In fact, the two of them make a great combo. The flight time is increased by .8 seconds every stack, giving a nice fly time.


Interstellar Desk Plant
Sprout a tree on kill, granting healing fruits.
Effect: On kill: Upon killing an enemy , spawn an alien plant that heals you for 8 hp.
Unlock: Sear/Flambe 20 Sand Crabs as CHEF.
This item is an item I find useless, compared to Monster Tooth, which heals instantly and gives more health from the start. This is a useless rare in my opinion.


Happiest Mask
Killing an enemy summons a ghost.
Effect: On kill: Killing enemies spawn a ghost of the killed enemy with 70% health and 50% damage for 15 seconds.
Unlock: Unlocked from start. (Spooky.)
A great item, spawning ghosts of those you have slain. Stacks improve stats. Be careful if you have Tesla as well, as it will negate the effect which sucks.


Rapid Mitosis
Reduces the cooldown of use items.
Effect: Reduce the cooldown of use items by 25%.
Unlock: Unlocked from start.
This is a nice item, the 25% is a nice feature. For every stack it adds another 25%, but multiplicatively, so it diminishes the gain every time. So, 2 will do half the countdown or so.


Old Box
Chance to fear enemies when attacked.
Effect: When at low heath: Drop a jack-in-the-box at low health, fearing enemies for 2 seconds.
Unlock: Unlocked from start.
This description lies a bit, all it requires is a lot of damage, so don't you worry, 9999HP people. I cannot suggest this to melee, as they'll run as you try and murder them. Ranged only for this.
Orange Items Part 1
Captain's Brooch
One man's wreckage is another man's treasure.
Effect:Makes a chest appear
Unlocked by:Unlock a Golden Chest with the Explorer's Key

This item will make a chest spawn.If you rarely use the Use Items,having this one up could be useful for more items.Otherwise,combine it with Life Savings to get infinite items after a teleporter event.
Cooldown:135 seconds

Carrara Marble
Place a marble gate. Teleport back to the gate by activating again.
Effect:Using it places a gate.Using it again teleports you to it.
Unlocked by:Default

Kinda useful if you want to explore the map to get chests after you found the teleporter,or if you want to get out of a tight spot.Otherwise pass.
Cooldown:3 on placing gate,45 on teleporting to it

Crudely Drawn Buddy
Drop a decoy, attracting nearby enemies.
Effect:Drops a decoy,making enemies attracted to it.
Unlocked by:Achieve 20 consecutive perfect reloads with Sniper

This item would be kinda good for Ranged classes,but it sadly CAUSES YOUR GAME TO CRASH ON USING IT.Would be good if you could continue your run after using it
Cooldown:45 seconds

Disposable Missile Launcher
Fire a swarm of missiles
Effect:Fires 12 missiles,doing 300% damage each
Unlocked by:Default

Good item,as it fires 12 heat-seeking missiles that can't miss it's target,dealing pretty good damage.Self-explanatory,nothing much to say about this one

Cooldown:45 seconds

Drone Repair Kit
Repair all active drones.
Effect:Makes all your drones full health
Unlocked by:Default.

If you enjoy having a lot of drones but you would like having them in perfect health often,get this!
If you don't like drones,this isn't such a good item

Dynamite Plunger
Hitting enemies drop dynamite. Use to detonate.
Effect:Upon getting it,you will throw a dynamite stick whenever you hit an enemy.Then activate the Plunger and they'll all explode for 400%

Interesting one here.Mixing this with a low damage high attack speed character like the Huntress would be a good idea,because you'll get a lot of sticks to detonate.The Dynamite sticks only appear when there is no cooldown on the Plunger though.

Skeleton Key
Open all chests in vision.
Effect:It will open every chests on your screen
Unlocked by:Default

Good item for saving money,but in the late-game it really won't be needed at all.Use that if you've got money problems,otherwise don't touch it.
Cooldown:90 seconds

Gigantic Amethyst
Resets all your cooldowns.
Effect:Removes every cooldowns (Unless the Engineer's mines and turrets)
Unlocked by:Collect 30 items in a playthrough will unlock it,but "Beat the Overloading Magma Worm with Loader" is the one supposed to unlock it.

Kinda good one,especially since it has a 8 seconds cooldown,but there's way better ways to remove or lower your cooldowns out there.There's better.
Cooldown:8 seconds.

Glowing Meteorite
Rain meteors from the sky, hurting both enemies and players.
Effect:Makes meteorites fall on the ground,dealing 220% damage to players and enemies for 8 seconds
Unlocked by:Deal 5000 damage in one shot

It can defenitively pack a punch,if you're able to not get hurt from it.There is better items out there,and even though this item is kinda good,don't use it on Multiplayer or with a slow character

Gold Plated-Bomb
Drop and detonate 50% of your money.
Effect:Takes half of your money,and explodes,dealing 1 damage per gold used.

Good item if you've got a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of cash,as it can deal the most potential damage in the game (infinite,if you would have infinite gold).Thing is,it takes a long time to detonate,and requires gold to be good.Hard to aim correctly,but good with a lot of gold.Matter of opinion.

Instant Minefield
Drop many mines at your feet
Effect:Drops 6 mines around you,dealing 400% damage each.
Unlocked by:Default.

Has the potential to deal a lot of damage,especially to hordes of enemies.Pretty good item.Self explanatory,and there's nothing much left to say about it.
Cooldown:45 seconds

Jar of Souls
Summon a ghost for every enemy in the screen.
Effect:Summons a ghost version of every monsters on your screen for 15 seconds.
Unlocked by:Default

Can be strong against hordes,making a Army VS Army fight,but it might be bad on your FPS so low end computers might want to avoid this item.The ghosts will attack normal enemies (obviously) and despawn after 15 seconds.
Cooldown:45 seconds

Lost Doll
Harm yourself to instantly kill an enemy
Effect:Hurts you 25% of your health,but damages the closest enemy for 500% of your max HP
Unlocked by:Survive a boss with less than 20% HP

Pretty bad item.Not only does it remove 25% of your health,but it only damages one enemy.Might be useful against a boss if you've got high max HP,but there's better overall options out there
Cooldown:45 seconds

Massive Leech
Grant massive life on hit for 10 seconds.
Effect:For 10 seconds,every hits you do heals you 10
Unlocked by:Spread Epidemic to 25 enemies with Acrid

Not a bad item if you can hit multiple enemies and fast.You'll get some really,really good HP regen,but it doesn't inflict any aditional damage.There is better out there,unless you want a higher HP Regen at all cost.

Pillaged Gold
For 14 seconds, hitting enemies cause them to drop gold. (Not the actual effect!)
Effect:Every enemies on your screen will drop 10 gold
Unlocked by:Kill a boss using Lights Out with the Bandit

Can grant you good amount of gold,but it's overall a terrible item,as using things such as the Thqwibs to kill enemies will give you more gold than using this thing.
Cooldown:45 seconds

Prescription
Increase damage and attack speed for 8 seconds.
Effect:Increase damage by 10 and attack speed by 40% for 8 seconds
Unlocked by:Stay in Shield mode with Enforcer for 5 minutes straight (In combat)

Increases your DPS overall for 8 seconds.Not bad,but not so good as there is better options out there.
Cooldown:45 seconds.
Orange Items Part 2
Rotten Brain
Throw a bouncing brain.
Effect:Throws a bouncing brain,damaging enemies for 6x200% and slowing them
Unlocked by:Default

Really,really bad item.It's hard to attack enemies with it,and since enemies are in movement so much it most of the time won't attack 6 times.Pass your way,better items out there.
Cooldown:45 seconds

Safeguard Lantern
Drop a lantern that fears and damages enemies for 10 seconds.
Effect:Drop a lantern for 10 seconds. Fears and damages enemies for 20% damage.
Unlocked by:Default

Can be a good item for like Enforcer or Sniper,to keep enemies at bay.One of the rare items to cause Fear to enemies,which is a nice stat.Use it if you need enemies to be away.
Cooldown:45 seconds

Sawmerang
Mow them down!
Effect:Throw out a sawmerang for 500% damage and bleed for 4x100%.
Unlocked by:Default

The 'sawmerang' always returns to the players exact position, even if moving vertically. You could use this to your advantage on cliffs/ropes/ladders and take out enemies at different elevations.
Cooldown: 45 seconds

Shattered Mirror
Create a shadow partner for 15 seconds
Effect:Makes a double you,causing your skills' damages and effects to be doubled
Unlocked by:Default

This item depends of your character.A double damage Steady Aim from Sniper is extremely damaging,and 2 Epidemics from Acrid would be really nice.Use it if you know exactly what you'll use it for,otherwise take a better item.

Shield Generator
Become invulnerable for 8 seconds
Effect:Gives you invincibility for 8 seconds
Unlocked by:Stay over 70% HP for the first 25 minutes as HAN-D.

Really,really basic one.Makes you invincible for 8 seconds.Simple but so good.
Cooldown:45 seconds

Snowglobe
Randomly freeze enemies for 8 seconds.
Effect: Creates a heavy snowstorm that has a 30% chance of randomly freezing enemies for 8 seconds.
Unlocked by:Default

Has the potential to help out low DPS survivalists like the sniper in a tight spot by stopping monsters in their tracks, making fresh No Scope targets.
Cooldown: 45 seconds

The Back-up
Call drones for back up. Lasts 10 seconds
Effect: Call in 4 drones for 10 seconds.
Unlocked by:Have 4 drone helpers at once

If you already have an arsenal of drones at your back, and could use a little extra firepower for a few seconds, I could see you using this. Otherwise, there are better choices out there.
Cooldown: 45 seconds

Thqwib
Releases a bloom of Thqwibs, detonating on impact.
Effect:Releases 30 Thqwib,detonating on impact and dealing 200% damage each
Unlocked by:Default

Surely the best item out there.Do the maths.200 multiplicated by 30 does 6000%.You deal 6000% damage total if every Thqwibs hits,and you can easily aim them.Bosses like the Colossus will have a hard time,and you can easily beat up hordes with this.Extremely good item,get it if you don't want anything in specific.

Unstable Watch
Pause time for 7 seconds.
Effect:Stops time completely for 7 seconds.
Unlocked by:Complete the first stage in under 5 minutes

Pretty good item.Let's you move for 7 seconds and do whatever you want without anything else moving!Free damage,getting an item,running away..Lots of uses for this.
Cooldown:67 seconds.
Yellow Items
Yellow items are Boss Items, dropped only by, you guessed it, bosses. They are hard to get, but have great effects.

Nematocyst Nozzle
Best served cold.
Item Type: Use

This item is dropped by the Wandering Vagrant, and shoots six missile like explosives, dealing 200% damage each. There is a 30% chance that it will fire 12 instead of six.
Uses: This item, in my opinion, would be best used as a ranged character, such as Sniper or Huntress, as they will seek out targets.

Ifrit's Horn
Chance to fire a flaming wave.
Item Type: Offensive

This item is dropped by, surprise surprise, Ifrit. This item gives an 8% chance of sending a wave of fire at your enemies, which deals 220% damage on hit. For every other copy of Ifrit's Horn you get, it increases the damage by 30%.
Uses: This is best for the fast melee units, like the Acrid or Mercenary, as you'll be up close when the wave hits them.

Burning Witness
The Worm's eye seems to still see.. watching.. rewarding..
Item Type: Offensive

Burning Witness is dropped by the Magma Worm, and in my opinion, isn't that great. But, here is what it does. On kill, it gives you 5% increased movement speed, increased damage, and firetrail for 6 seconds. For every stack, you get 5% more speed, and increased duration.
Uses: Honestly, the effects of this can be replaced with permanent effects by just getting some Hooves and Fireman's Boots, which are both easier to get than this Boss item, but this is best for melee units, as you can light enemies on fire.

Legendary Spark
Smite them. Smite them all.
Item Type: Offensive

This item is dropped by the Ancient Wisp, and mimics her attack. On hit, it has an 8% chance to smite enemies for 200% damage. For every stack, it adds another 200% damage, making this item stack amazingly.
Uses: This item is best used by fast melee characters, and the Huntress, because this doesn't require you to be in the face of the enemy like Ifrit's Horn.

Colossal Knurl
Increased health, health regeneration, and armor.
Item Type: Defensive

This item, dropped by Colossus, gives you 40 health, increases health regen by 1.2 a second, and increases armor by six. Every stack adds another layer of the same effects. This is an all around great item that benefits all classes.
Uses: Usable by everyone, but should be given to the tank in MP.


Imp Overlord's Tentacle
Cut off the head of the snake and the body lives on.
Item Type: Offensive

This has to be my favorite boss item there is. Given by the Imp Overlord, it spawns an imp that revives every sixty seconds. But, there are five different imps:
  • Aetu, the golden imp who drops gold on hit.
  • Bava, the orange imp who has exploding attacks.
  • Yggo, the useless green imp.
  • Ugorn, the blue imp with the shocking aura.
  • Chir, the yellow imp who is just as pathetic as Yggo.
This gives more of a random effect to it, not knowing who will spawn. Every stack will increase the imp's health, damage and speed.
Uses: This is best used for melee units, so you have a buddy fighting with you.
Purple Items
This section shall be in only one part since there's not much Purple Items.Let's get started!

Keycard is an item found only in the Risk of Rain (UES Contact Light) level



Effect:Opens doors in the UES Contact Light ship.

Dropped by enemies and found in golden containers,those Keycards are used to open rooms found on the Bridge part of the level.They are single-use items,and will open a door if you interact with a door while holding a keycard.It'll then be removed from your inventory.




Artifacts will also be displayed as Purple Items in your inventory.No use for them,unless to remind you you picked up an artifact this run.Fun fact,the Artifact DOES Stack.I once ended up with 4 Command Artifact in my inventory,while a run for the Chapter 2 (Artifact Chapter) of the Handbook.Won't do anything by stacking though.

White Undershirt (M) is a reference to Maple Story


Effect:Boosts your Armor by 3 points.

Not much items boosts your Armor,and this one is one of those.The stat boost is simple but still makes the difference between death and life sometimes.It's dropped by only the Armored Boar,which there is only one inside the Boar Beach zone.It's a 100% drop chance,too.The Boar Beach is a secret level found inside of the Ancient Valley,and we'll clear how to get inside the Boar Beach on the Map chapter of the handbook.

Small Enigma is a item exclusive to Enigma Artifact users

Effect:Reduce Cooldown of Use Item by 5%.Everytime you get a new one,it'll give you another -5% cooldown.

Those spawn at the place of any Use Items you'd get normally,and on the long run it can make use items have a cooldown of about 4 seconds!You're never controlling if you're getting it or not,so while it's a nice adition,it's also a free one.

At 16 Rapid Mitosises, the "Cooldown" on items like the Disposable Missile Launcher is literally 0, and you can just hold down H to win.

Add a crowbar recommendation for glass sniper, as a glass sniper heavily relies on instakilling enemies, so the crowbar is extremely useful.

Soldier's Syringe stacks up to 8 but for commando it stacks up to 13.
Meanwhile Lens Maker's Glasses give 10% crit if no other crit chance items are in the inventory, otherwise it gives 7% up to a maximum of 14 with 100% crit chance.
