I am finding that these derelict ships are simply floating out in space in no close prximity to asteroids.
Right now I am using the GPS system to place probes in an ever-expanding 3D grid-system around the origin (0,0,0) point of my very-system friendly "world". It is open to "friends" who wish to see my continually growing "museum" of ships.
-Cheers
This was actualy the third ship that I have found in my exploration attempts (thank's to Midspace's "/scan" (and "/scan2" mod). The first two, I forgot to blunt. One was a fighter called the Longsword (something) and it was right next to what looked like a troop transporter called the "Coockle Monster" (both were small ships, but the transporter was huge). I accidentally damaged both wingtips of the Longsword (thruster damage from my hauling AEP ship) and will need to download it to restore it. I think I can go back to and blue-print the larger one, though, so keep an eye out for it.
