Basics
  • It doent matter if you do not destroy all incomming waves of Nazi ships - you will only loose some points and F22 fighters will take care of the enemies - focus on the big asteroids which you should destroy in any case!
  • Even if it is the must ugly spaceship the dundee is the best ship in the game. Invest all you money to upgrade this ship to maximum first - focus on the minigun as this one is most helpful to bring down other ships.
  • Focus on the side-quests as they will get you lots of money which you can invest in further upgrades!
  • Each Nazi ship has its specific weakness - e.g.
    • FYLING SAUCERS have their weak spot on the lower side - you will destroy these ships faster if you focus on the lower side that shooting on the upper side.
    • BIG SHIPS like the Hunding ships have their weak spot on the engine / back side - shoot them first and you get additional salvage and can stop the ships - after this you can focus on the gun turrets.
  • Fly back to space stations frequently to sell your salvage and regain energy / hull integrity - even during missions you can fly back und return to battle later.
  • Get in fights with help of you allies - try to attack these enemys where other allies also attack - most important the G.W.Bush.
  • Salvage prices may vary depending on which space station you sell them - you can check the current price in the map
  • use "z" key to change to cockpit view
  • use right mouse key to select nearest target

@dukekarl1: Just hit the [N] key when you have reached the glowing red light, the dock procedure is then fully operated without you having to maneuver at all. You just have to be close enough to the SSI.

Darn I didn't want to upgrade dundee because it looks so bad, thought there would be something better soon to stick with.

Also, look in the keyboard settings menu to check what key toggles linked fire -- I think it's X by default. This will fire all your guns at once for a bigger punch, but with a longer recharge. Also make sure you know the key for "transfer energy to shields", it will save your ass!

"Transfer to shields" operates on your current weapon only. If you're in the Dundee and using the gatling and taking damage, and start running out of weapon energy to send to the shields, you can switch to the plasma cannon and start transfering energy from it too -- it has a separate reserve to the gatling. (Similarly, if you have rockets selected you will only transfer from engines to shields because rockets have ammo not energy -- remember to switch back to an energy weapon to boost your shields up more!)

The salvage price drops as you sell salvage at a single station, but if you sell all your salvage at once ('sell all' button) you get the same (higher) price for all of it. Also, the price will go back up again after a while -- I only came back once in a while to sell and the price was always 10,000 each time.

The Dundee and Xerg are the only ships you get to keep throughout the entire campaign; the rest you only have for a few missions then have to give back. The Xerg is not bad fully upgraded (cluster missiles take out a lot of smaller enemies at once, and homing missiles have no lock-on delay), but Dundee is the best.

Valid points here. Actually, there is a hint in the message area (bottom left) during one of the first missions about the weak spot of the large saucers (specifically Hanebu class I think), but with everything going on on the screen in the heat of battle, it is easily overlooked. I only noticed it during my 2nd playthrough.
