Introduction
A few times I've seen people asking how to change the name of their mod after they've posted it, and still be able to update their mod. Well, it's a lot simpler than you think!
Changing the Name on Steam
So, let's say we have this mod we made. It's a great, no, it's an awesome mod. So awesome that we put (1.6) at the end of our mod's name so that way everyone knows they can play it.

But there's a problem. The game updated and now we're in 1.8.

Well, it won't do to let our mod get outdated, so we update the mod to 1.8 and make it even better. But how do we let everyone know that it's for 1.8 now? It still says (1.6) at the top.
Well, it's simple. We just change the mod name in Steam!

First, we go to our mod page:

Then, we find the "Owner Controls" box in the bottom right. There's a button there we need.

Click on it, and we'll get to this page:

In the Title box we need to change the name of our mod in order to reflect that we updated:

In the bottom right click "Save", then we can go back to our mod page and see this:

Awesome! Now everyone knows that the Awesome mod is up to date.
Changing the Name in the .mod File
Yay! We've updated our mod's name so now everyone knows that they can play the Awesome Mod in 1.8.

Except, when we go to update our mod with more awesome stuff...

What? But we know that the awesome mod exists already! We just updated the name to 1.8! Why doesn't it say 1.8 in the launcher?

Well, the reason it says both of those things is because the launcher doesn't know that you updated the name. When it goes to update the mod on the workshop, it first checks the .mod file that was created in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/Mod for your mod.

There in the .mod file it sees that it says: name="Awesome Mod (1.6)", so it goes ahead and checks the workshop for any mods named "Awesome Mod (1.6)".

Well, it won't find any since we changed the name on the workshop. So, let's change it to

*It's important to note that the name on the workshop and the name in the file have to be exactly the same, so double check.

Once we've changed it we can go ahead and save the file, then close it. After opening the launcher again we see:

Awesome-er! Now we can update our mod again, and it'll say (1.8) in the launcher too!
Conclusion
So that's how you change the name of a mod that you've already posted. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask; I'll try to answer them as best I can.

Hi, can you tell me how to add a cover image for my mods? In the current version of the launcher you can upload mods but it does not upload the image to steam.

I'm pretty sure that there's a size limit on thumbnails, though it's not stated anywhere. I usually use jpegs because they're so small.

I have a question, I'm having a problem uploading a mod cause of thumbnail. What size/format is yours?
